It's not really dificult to solve most of hearthstone problems with people feeling it stale and in-game economy if you really see it from my perspective at least.
We lack really interactive and good events and just this because:
1.People always will complain about some deck so this is not really a problem.
2.Really interactive events(who require you to do something and not just log in) can push you out of the ladder for a while.
3.Offer actually new cards as event prizes(not to much cards) can shake things up a little.
They can even have common rarity.
4.With some crazy event only prizes on it's top prizes like gold uncraftable versions of the event cards , Special hero portraits and cosmetics also.
This way we put people to actually play for new cards a little and collectors for be crazy with a big amount of things that they will miss if they not take on the event in time.
And also add option to buy the event prizes during the event time because the most important is make the game not feel stale and help F2P a little so there is no problem in people have event things in other ways if they support the game with they money since they need time to work for it.
So we can have a slow event who take some time for be did but also give you the feel that you're not only grinding ladder.
We need to reward who actually play hearthstone and not who act like it was playing because If you have Always new things to do you not feel stale.
Packs ARE also expensive in this game but they are not the main problem for people feel stale and we can life with it if we have something fun to do that is not open packs in this game.
Just on the top of my head I can think of something like: Common quest for all players that instead of giving out Gold, would give either a special edition card (obtained through event- but that you could also craft it afterwards in case someone needs it for a deck), a special card back, hero portrait, even emotions to taunt your enemies... Anything like that would improve the staleness of the game for sure!
The quest would be something like:
Win 25 games - reward: "special name" card back (7 days left to complete quest)
Play 100 Battlecry minions - reward: an epic exclusive minion that has a cool Battlecry (4 days left to complete quest)
Win against 20 warriors- reward: an exclusive "sorry" emote to use when playing against warriors (12 days left to complete quest)
Craft a golden "specific card" - reward: another copy of that golden card (5 days left to complete quest)
Really what they need is just to add a couple new play modes to the game. If they were to make Heroic Tavern Brawl into a permanent feature with the same entry fee and reward system as Arena, that would go a much longer way to improving the gameplay experience than dropping the occasional event, which would not only be more work but also would offer only a temporary solution.
I wouldn't be opposed to better cosmetics and a more engaging event/quest system, though, because right now quests seem more like chores to help fund my bad pack opening addiction.
I honestly don't see how they can't just do Tournaments. That would literally be amazing in every way. Going through Third Parties for Tournaments just suck, in my opinion. I don't see how they (Blizzard) can't make this happen. Charge a buy in and Winner or Top 3/5/10 get packs of cards and special promo gold cards for winning. Why not?!

Description: Once in a while a new boss battle will appear in adventure mode where you will need some tickets itens to enter it that you can drop when you play in other modes.
The more you drop less likely to drop they will and they let you try one time on any difficult level of the boss.
Every day we give you one ticket when you log-in.
Levels:
Normal:
You win some dust every time you do so they help you craft any card you want instead of only the new ones.
Nothing really big.Just some 40 dust that even if you do once a day will mean something.
Heroic:
Here we will have a real challenge that is made for who want the exclusive things and now the prizes:
Beat it first time:
golden versions of the cards launched in the event(golden ones are not craftable but normal ones still like ETC).
Beat with 3 diferent classes:
Special card back
Beat with all classes:
Special hero portrait of the event.
Important questions:
1.Why do the same boss with more classes have rewards?
It's a really diferent experience than first time even if most never tried.
Most classes have they own way to play so most of they will have to figure diferent ways to win the same challenge and also almost always will have classes who have really bad times against the boss so the dificult of this is really bigger than just do with the easiest class EVEN IF PEOPLE NETDECK.
2.Why golden cards are the first time heroic prize?
I don't want to reward normal ones in the normal level because a dust prize is more flexible to new players.So i'm want to keep it easy to have the new cards even if NOT THAT EASY as karazhan for they also.
3.Why hero portrait is so dificult to win since it is only for one class?
So you can show your friends that you did something insane in PVE with style.
Because hero portraits really have that impact more than a card back when you see a new oponent the first time because they are more flashy.
It also will be just a question of time to all heroes have atleast one event portrait if did since we can have diferent event bosses.

some great ideas in here. new 1 time quests, tournament mode, some small cosmetic things. all possible.
the game is sorely missing more game modes. by now we should absolutely have:
a sandbox mode where we can set match rules like card sets, class restrictions, more/less hp etc
tournament mode with a few options for brackets, rounds, buy in etc
HISTORIC brawl mode, where EVERY former brawl is listed in a menu and can be played vs friends.
let's hope for hearth 2.0 refresh like hots and diablo 3 received
