Admittedly this has been somewhat spurred on by the Mega-Nerf to STB which has made this deck so much more viable. In any case, I've found this deck to be pretty solid and good for the mid-game win in particular.
It will often lose out to Miracle Jade in the late game if you haven't board controlled it by that point - stupid Jade mechanic overpowered pile of poo! XD
Aaaaanyway - feel free to try it out and leave some feedback, thoughts for improvement etc if you like! :-)
a) if that deck is so anti-pirate why does it run Rend Blackhand which is arguably one of the most situational removal minions ever? Especially considering that there aren't a lot of decks running big legendaries at the moment (Raagnaros at best and even that guy's rare).
+i don't see how the Buccaneer nerf affected this deck in any way. You're a priest, so you don't ahve access to a 1 damage ping anyways. Would be a different story if this deck ran Wild Pyromancers.
The only thing in this deck that benefits from the nerfs are the museum curators and anything that would usually die turn 2 to spirit claws.
This isn't a bad deck (except for Rend, just put nefarian in there or something) but I fail to see how it's any better at ealing with pirates than other Teched control/midrange decks.
Jade Druid is probably my best match-up playing Dragon Priest.
Ah, I should have stipulated - yes, Rend and Entomb are by far the most useless cards against Pirates in this deck. They are there for the other decks I come up against that I need spot removal. :-)

Litterally anything that isn't Rend Blackhand would be better than Rend Blackhand though.. DOUBLE conditional proc... One of it's kind, and even when wallet warrior was still a thing it wasn't playable as a counter.
Well you know, you say that - but he has single-handedly won me games! I don't think many people realise just how strong he really is. Sure he has a conditional - but it's easier to fulfil than, say... having a weapon for STB... (Ooh! I went there! Hehe!)

Potion of Madness actually counter STB & Patches now. It's not in >this< deck tho, so you're right. Pyro's would indeed be a good anti-pirate pick. Need a bunch of cheap spells to go with it tho, so not sure how well it fits the Dragon Priest.

Fair enough! Seemed odd choices considering your thread title :-) What good targets do you tend to hit with Rend?
You had me at Rend Blackhand lmao! I think he is one of those cards I insta-dusted. That being said if it works for you then keep on keepin on my man! lol :-P

Actually I was able to play my turn 1 Northshire Cleric with confidence now. And it also meant that if I had a Wyrmrest Agent in hand with no dragon kicker, I could still play him on turn 1 (with coin) or 2 knowing he would deal with STB no problem. Not to mention the Museum Curator, but that wasn't often a play I would want to consider unless I had no alternative.

There's good arguments for either. I could find a dragon with the Historian, sure, but there are also lots of useful options to me with the Deathrattles: in particular, the most useful ones being: Sylvanas Windrunner, Abomination (Great anti-Pirate card), Infested Tauren, Sludge Belcher
I tried running the Historian for a while in this deck, but just found that she didn't ever present me with the sort of options I was looking for. But that's just personal experience and I'm sure others have had some better times with her.

Oops! Posted the wrong deck! Lol! Updated with the right one!
Rend Blackhand, Ysera and Entomb to counter pirates?!? I suggest you consider Twilight Guardian, Potion of Madness and Kabal Talonpriest (buff your taunts health...)

I tried having fun once. It was awful.

i think he mean counter control. Many player starting play greedy deck after stb Nerf. Entomb, black hand hard counter control
