This is a bit of an interesting Hearthstone mechanic, but basically they die at the same time before their deathrattles trigger, so each one is counted as dead for the other's deathrattle and therefore both will activate.
This effect also occurs if the one player runs Feugen into an enemy Stalagg (or the other way around). Each player gets a Thaddius.
Here's a thought, what would happen if you had a feugen and a thaddius that both got killed off by the same effect while Baron Rivendare was on the field.... Four Thaddius...

Sometimes things go your way...
Had both Stalagg and Feugen on the board and my opponent cleared them both with a lightning storm. Next card I draw is Faceless Manipulator.
I didn't even realize that if the both die at the same time you get two...

I had two feugens and a stalagg on the board then Poison seeded, GG trees and thaddiuses.
