I really wish this wasn't the case. I feel like decks that wanna play dragon can only do dragon-in hand cards on turn 3(except priest with their 3/4s). It just leaves their early game kind of weak since you have to force mulligan for a 4 drop or higher that you may never get to use. I hope by the time year of the kraken ends and they introduce the next set, it will be a major dragon overall since we lose basically every piece of dragon archtype with the leaving of grand tournament and black rock :(
Maybe some sort of
"The Rubble of Black Rock" esque expansion to follow our own hearthstone lore. As black rock gets sent into the oblivion that is wild in our hearthstone universe it crumbles from the shear amount of destruction that has happened over the last 2 years resulting in Dragons escaping out into the world allowing for another reboot to what it means to play dragon decks in hearthstone. Obviously adding cool cards like "battle cry: destroy a dragon then draw a card" to give a bit more depth to the expansion instead of just redo blackrock mountain.
Yeah, pretty sure Dragons will majorly stop being a thing as of April 2017. The dragon cards added in the newer sets aren't nearly as good as in BRM and TGT and are not enough to keep the archetype alive on its own. They'd need to put a lot of support for it in the coming expansion.

I just edited in a possible idea in the main post if you want to comment on that.
I mean, if they want to make a Dragon-based expansion they can do it without just using the Blackrock theme over again. There's other Dragon-y things in WoW, and they've shown before that they really don't need to rely on the lore to make something. But, I don't think that something like a Dragon-based expansion would be something they would do. For the same reason they won't do a Pirate expansion --- specific classes would just have too much of an advantage / disadvantage.
I think we will get new powerful dragons as Standard rotates: if you read the Patches related tread you can see they waited for some Pirate-sinergy cards to rotate to release that and I believe the same thought process is being applied to dragons. However I remember reading that is intended to not have cheap powerful dragons and have priest to be the only exception with Twilight Welp (or Faerie Dragon) to not overload the archetype -you want your early game minions to be good? You have to keep mid-late minions in your hand. Not sure about that as things may change with the next set but I think it's very likley that we will get good Dragons to replace the others that rotate out
I think netherspite is perfectly fine on 2, and they don't need much on 1. But turn 3 is such a core spot to most decks. Its the decks sweet spot for the early game. If you don't have something strong to play here, you tend to lose the early game. And most dragon decks do not have anything to play here unless you're priest or want to use the 2/4 (3/5) if you have a dragon in hand. Actually overall, a lot of decks don't have amazing cards on 3, some do, but often times a lot are currently lacking if you want to do an archtype deck.

True, but if they don't add at least 10-15 new dragon cards next expansion, then everything dragon that just came out between this expansion and the last adventure will be dead in the water. And still i think it could be cool if all decks could play dragon effectively to some extent. Yes some decks would be stronger and others weaker but thats just hearthstone. even if they gave 3 dragon cards to each class and 10- 15 neutrals that would only be 1/3rd of the expansion just to keep dragon afloat :p
With no new releases for dragon (obviously there will be more cards for priest that will probably over take my choices) this is probably the closest i can think of for a viable dragon deck. Sadly its only able to play 9 dragons + netherspites picks. It doesn't seem bad, just really doesn't look nearly as viable as current dragon priest.
for some reason i only have 1 operative my b ill change that
Instead of blowing it out of the water and making a cheaper rarer azure drake, why don't you guys just make it a 3/4 for 3 that draws a card if you're holding a dragon? That seems much easier to use.

Imo it probably would have to be a 3/3. spider tank was a 3/4 with mech family. this could only be a 3/3 with dragon family and a situational effect.
Although, its not out of the question to have it exactly be a 3/4 dragon draw a card if holding a dragon, it just would mean dragon decks would be really really good at turn 3 whether you got the effect or not xD
^essentially it would be 1 attack weaker than tinker town with a better draw(since he adds spare parts). but its trading 1 attack and spare part for dragon typing and draw if you have the card in hand and not just on the field.

Ty guys, I love dragons too so hopefully they implement a similar card sometime in the future. Also, KitsuneRTC, I was also initially thinking the same thing about Spider Tank, but then I remembered that Mechs were much faster paced than most dragon decks, since it was set in a time where big bursts, big buffs, and windfury was still huge.
Dragon Priest is one of my favorite decks, so I'll hopefully be able to run it in Wild successfully, at least.
I don't want it to completely die in Standard though, as we've gotten some good dragon cards in ONiK and MSoG, unlike mech which seems to have totally died out in Standard.

mech was flood board aggro. dragon is tempo-control.
why would they ever want to bring back straight aggro when no one wants it lol. dragon can be timeless like beasts as long as they don't make aggro dragon like warrior was going towards.

After GvG rotated, we got a miniscule amount of mechs released. I expect the same to happen to dragons when BrM is rotated.
After a quick search there was Gyth... somehow I think people would complain if a card like was released.

Nah man legendaries have to be SUPER EPIC.
Like this: 3 mana 3/4
Play a random minion, discard a random card, lose a random amount of life, gain a random amount of gold, delete a random card.

What an amazing card you just made! I hope blizzard will make a dragon card just like this one.
Thats how it starts. The fever, the rage, the feeling of powerlessness that turns a good men...cruel.
