I recently created a Fat Priest deck, which I christened "Concede Priest", meaning that whoever plays it will concede a lot. I was jokingly saying that it can bring you from rank 1 to 20 (wow, a 19 ranks increase! kappa). It was based on Prince Malchezaar, Yogg-Saron, Hope's End, Elise Starseeker and a bunch of spells, except for some tech minions: Justicar Trueheart, Sylvanas Windrunner, and a single copy of Wild Pyromancer.
The idea was pretty simple: survive aggro with cheap spells until you can play Yogg. Do nothing against other control decks that will also do nothing. You have 5 cards extra in your deck, so you will win the fatigue battle (and you have Elise to save your butt against CW, which will have 5 cards less, most of the time, but also something like 40 armor before getting into fatigue). Since most of your deck is spells, you can answer pretty much every threat.
Of course this deck will lose most of the time against aggro, and can't stand a chance against Murloc Paladin (unless you can entomb both his Murloc Warleader and you'll have no answer to Tirion Fordring, except Shadow Word: Death and pray that Malchezar gave you Harrison Jones. Ok, but I digress too much.
Today I played 4 matches (low rank) with this deck. I find it fun, even being non-competitive. The first game was against an aggro shaman. He Doomhammered me to death. The second game was against an aggressive overload shaman. I was able to survive until I dropped Yogg and won.
The third and fourth matches, however, were really slow. The third was against a fat warrior, who also carried Malchezar. A fun 20-minute game, with lots of control and strategy (I won by making him burn his two Executes and then dropped the Golden Monkey). We both went into fatigue, and I ended up winning by having minions on board. The fourth match was against a Yogg priest, and we both played 2 yoggs (thoughtstolen) and it was really fun. Both mine and his played DOOM!, I burned all the remaining of my deck, but he lethaled himself of fatigue. I laughed out loud, people on the street would like to know what was so fun, it was a happy day.
But yeah, I talked a lot. I remember playing other slow games recently. Did you notice something similar?
Played 5 matches earlier ranked 15 to 14 and it was Resurrect Priest, Dragon Priest, Tempo Mage, Resurrect Priest, C'Thun Warrior. Was playing Dragon Paladin myself. I think most of the aggro decks are probably better ranked by now. I've been taking it slow this season so far playing around in casual making new decks. I'm sure i'll run into a bunch of them around rank 10 and up when I get there. So no I don't think it's slowed down. I think we're both just lucky today. That and people are experimenting.
i've played a lot of hearthstone since the release of the old gods and karazhan and i think that with all those aggro s*hits in the ladder the meta won't slow donw so soon. Of course you can see that there are some other decks going on (ressurect priests, malcheezar decks and stuff) but the thing is that agrro decks are, actually, a lot better in ranked play, even if their decks are ridiculous and without any sort os strategy they manage to win a lot
Also this new Zoo(?) with discard thing. Just fills up the board so fast.

Betrayer... In truth, it was I who was betrayed. Still, I am hunted. Still, I am hated. Now, my blind eyes see what others cannot: that sometimes the hand of fate must be forced! Now go forth... unleash the tides of Doom... Upon all those...who would oppose us.

prepare to meet a lot of this new zoo in the future.... cause its propably the next shaman-secret paladin after the rotation. it was the same with tunnel trogg now malchezaars imp then TGT followed with tuskar and totem golem. this discard mechanic will continue to get support propably for the next 2 expansions. now its kinda clunky if they add like 2 more good cards that do something after you discard them this deck will be easily tier 1
No everyone plays to rank up or to collect gold or hit face every turn. At least I don't. I like to have fun; play different decks and high-quality cards. But alas, no room for that most times.
And no, I cannot play on casual mode, because the casual mode is also filled with net-decking idiots who just smorc like there is no tomorrow.

Well, people are still trying out the new cards. So the meta right now is half experimental decks, many of them slow, and half cookie cutter aggro decks that pray on aforementioned experimental decks. As soon as the few good Karazhan decks are found, the meta will settle into those + whatever older ones that still work well. I expect aggro Shaman, Zoolock and midrange Hunter to still be good, along with several versions of Warrior.
Midrange hunter is slightly slower than aggro-shaman, so I guess it is slowing down slightly.
And, this "fast" meta has been very midrangy for a long time. Does anyone remember those Leeroy Jenkins+Soulfire lethals that could hit you for 4 mana? THAT was aggro, and there were way less taunts and heals in the game...
It's somewhat slower because a lot of people are testing the waters with new cards, such as it always is in the few weeks post-release. You should enjoy it while you can; I'm sure the face-obsessed babies will be back to their own soon enough.

Look, I want to tell you something because you're very dear to me. And I hope you understand that it comes from the bottom of my damaged, damaged heart. You are the finest piece of ass I've ever had and I don't care who knows it. I am so glad that I got to roam those hillsides.
But I, for one, very much enjoy all the value/reno mages I'm seeing around.

70% of my games end before round 7(they concede or i am already dead) and 90+% end before round 9.The meta is faster than ever and that's because the blizzard designers had the amazing idea of making the most aggresive minions also the must bulky ones. Before aggresive minions had less life(more damage=easier to remove). Now more damage+hard to remove. That's why we face the new form of aggro:Super snowballish tempoish face....That with the fact that our neutral anti aggro tools are non existant....Yeah all hail our aggro overlords....

1: I bet you that those statistics are pure guesswork from your side, feelings if you wish. Try counting 100 ranked games and tell me then.
2: Hell no, aggro has been a lot stronger, especially before and after nax. Both hunters and aggro-locks have been retardedly broken on a whole different level than you see now.
3: Go to youtube and watch Kungen play hunter in the spring of 2014. That is an actual face deck. Nowdays, the best aggro decks always fight for board dominance the first 4 turns. That was not always the case, guys!
Not calling you stupid, but playing a deck that does nothing but 'go face' doesn't require much thought. If you're like me, you like to make dumb decks to try to pull off some ridiculous combo or test a new deck archetype that requires control and anti-aggro.
Kind of, I myself don't climb ladder with a freshly created experimental deck. Some people might though, but non ranked and Wild are the places you wanna be for slower decks.
Meta not slowing down at all. In fact people are either playing aggro decks (face shaman, zoolock, cancer hunter) or curving aggressive decks (dragon warrior, midrange shaman, midrange hunter). Karazhan was a successful expansion including cards that support existing decks and I just can hope that we will get a brand new archtype with the next expansion. Hopefully we will get some nerfs then as well as some balance changes...

TL;DR: go to the last paragraph.

I honestly hope they slow the game down some. I'm sick of games being over within 5-10 minutes.

Main priest and hate aggro
I wish. Huntards everywhere man.

why do you people like slow games ?
Faster games = more games = more ranks , more gold etc .
= less strategy = less fun.

beast druid may become the new fast deck.

Is it true that in non-ranked mode there is more slow decks?
