Looking for ways to improve my midrange paladin deck. Currently at D2 (39-21 overall), but struggling to hit legend. The meta seems to be DH, Quest Hunter, Control Warrior, Mech Mage and some Ramp Druid. Worst matchups seem to be DH (4-6) and Mech Mage (2-4) because they can have very explosive turns. Shockingly Quest Hunter (8-0) is my best matchup.
What are some ways to deal with DH and Mage better? I was thinking of going back to City Tax or Bunker Sergeant, but they still don't deal with Battleworn Vanguard. and that seems to be the biggest issue with Multi-Strike and Dreadprison Glaive. Would Consecration be a good add since it deals with most of their early power card, though 4 mana seems a little slow when they can easily have dealt 15-20 damage by turn 4. I was also thinking Spammy Arcanist could be valuable, but its also too slow in a midrange deck with no guaranteed healing.
Below is the deck I'm using. Overall its been very solid, but looking for ways to maximize it.
Hey, I am also trying to refine a Paladin Midrange deck, I will let you know :)
Thanks. What decks are you running into? My meta seems to be either DH or CW and am struggling to find a balance where I have a chance against both. When I skew the deck to beat CW I have almost no chance against DH, and if I build it towards beating DH I don't have the damage to beat CW unless I get a huge Mr. Smite (which is tough with Brann + Mutanus) and 4 board clears + 4-6 single target removal from shield slam, dragon and discovers.
you are missing clears, as you correctly identified. be it equality, city tax, consecration or wild pyromancer combo.
looks like you want to achieve board presence with your deck so i ll pick city tax and consecration yep (pyro is too controling and clear yourself), and remove knight of anoint and ring of courage (you ll most likely own the board)

i ended up hitting legend with it, but will have to see how it goes since the nerfs (or played hearthstone in a few days since i got married over the weekend). curse warlock already felt like a challenge pre nerf, so it might be more so now. murlock wasnt too much of a challenge before because once they lose the board they only have gigafin for recovery, but I will assume its much faster now.
for board clears city tax might be useful again with lots of murloc tokens, but i would usually look for those on school teacher and battle vicar anyways.
yeah guessed so. thats the power of discover, patching decks :) love or hate it. id prefer certainty over random tho but thats up to debate (non discover vs discover). sure the deck is already good as-is.
