I feel like nobody is really talking about this... but I'm seeing tools for a big paladin in this set. I mean, maybe it still won't be efficient, lack game ending tools/value and other decks will OTK or burn you out before you can do anything... but am I crazy for thinking this could be good?
I think you'd be better off with a sticky minion than centurion, but otherwise not a bad idea. Not a top performer but I think you could get a decent wr after some refinement :)

That's a good point. I guess I'm living in a fairy world where I'm expecting to close out games by killing my opponent's exactly 8 health minions :P
The 8 cost dragon that summons a 7 drop is probably better here...
Just want to mention that Paladin is probably the best class to use Vandar since they can tutor him out with Call to Adventure if you are playing wild.
Also, I've found that Guild Recruiter is also a great include since it can recruit minions that were previously 7 drops for 2 mana.

Just my two cents.

Those are some fun interactions. If I decided to dip back into wild, that could be a great idea. I'm currently just looking at standard for now.
I have been mulling this over since reveals started, and I think you’re on the right path. I like pally decks that are heavier on minions and buff instead of reactive cards. I am going to try to brew a big pally deck that includes prized protodrake, scrapyard colossus, abominable lieutenant, humongous owl, frantic hippogryf, brass wing and Templar captain. That’s backed up with the cavalry horn, commencement, baradur bridge and protect the bridge. I think you are on the right track with the early game support in first day of school and blessed goods. I’m not as sold on the healing package, city tax and equality. I think buff spells and divine shield will be a better fit for keeping up with aggressive early game boards and getting the most value out of your big threats. Gift of luminance, shield of honor and noble mount are going to be crucial. Cheers to your deck list though, let’s see what happens in a week.

Thanks for the comments - I think that's the big thing with theorycrafting: sometimes it looks a lot better on paper than it is in action.
Often times we finally play the deck and find that the flow doesn't feel right, or some cards remain unused in hand or are too clunky in practice and get cut.
This is the time before an expansion I'm most excited about the game, because my hopes and dreams for a cool deck I've thought up haven't yet been stomped on by the inevitable wave of pro-players and their meta defining decks that get loose on the internet.
Still, looking forward to trying out lots of new stuff :)
Troll centurian definitely has to go. Probably abomidable lieutenant as well. If meta is aggro you would put in Mo'arg forgefiend. If you face a lot of control you could even consider turalyon, but mist likely plagued protodrake.
Lightforged cariel looks like a natural fit in big pala. But the weapon has such anti-synergie with running 4 weapons yourself.. It would feel too clunky and top decking cavalry horn when cariel has been played already would suck so hard..
I would even consider dropping both commencement for vanndar and anotger big drop. But I might be really wrong :p

This might be overthinking it, but I am pro-horn because it’s not only a decent weapon to get big minions out free, it is a bait for opponents. They have to judge whether destroying the horn now is worth having to fight the hero weapon later. Or they trade/hold on to the viper and let you drop free big minions and get hit in the face. I think the horns are a big part of this deck’s central strategy.
I doubt that the opponent would choose to use their weapon removal on the horn, that would just be giving the paladin's big minion the opportunity to attack when their turn comes around. They would be better off letting the paladin break it themselves and having all their mana available to try and remove the minion.
I'm pretty sure they wouldn't use their weapon removal :p
Also, the hero power from Cariel will probably not get that much value in a deck like this. Since you only have few minions to use it on and you are trying to cheat them out before turn 7 anyway.
It will depend a lot on the meta if this deck will be viable or not. But I honestly wound't get my hopes up too much :(

All the minions get full value from Commencement, some of them come pre-loaded with rush and can summon more or deal more damage.
You got your board clears, healing/survival tools and a hero card that does it all.
Thoughts?
Missing vandar?

He would have anti-synergy with Commencement and the Cavalry Horn, so I left him out of this list. I think it's probably better this way.

Well, those are all fair points.
As far as weapons go, I like the synergy between Lightbringer's Hammer and Protect the Innocent, but Cavalry Horn just seems like it needs to be in a big deck... but maybe it doesn't need to. I'm being baited!
Certainly multiple avenues to take with this. I think adjusting the minions and taking out the horns is appropriate.
I appreciate all the constructive comments.
