I have always been interrested in the archetype history of hearthstone. With the latest resurence of older Wild decks like even mage, even paladin and no-minion mage, I have decided to put some MMR on the line, and try to revisit some other older archetypes and see if they have any merit.
The list is long, but for starters I will try to aim for arechetypes that were VERY powerful at a certain point, but have seen no or almost no play for a considerable time in any format, including Classic.
Most of these will naturally be Wild decks, but if some archetype can be squeezed into another format then why not?
I think it is good to try to look for new support found in later sets to give them a fair chance to be viable.
On the top of my head, some starting points can be: Mech mage C'thun druid and warrior Star Aligner Druid Pirate aggro shaman Dragon control warrior Dragon tempo warrior Spell hunter
So, I am starting out with mech mage, which seemed to have less new support than expected, unfortunately.
The core strength of this deck back in the day was Goblin Blastmage, which is an obvious victim of power creep. There have been a number of good mechs released since the heyday of this deck, though. Maybe it has a chance to win a game, with Book of Specters being a reasonable draw engine.
No secrets for now, even though a secret mage with some mechs might actually be stronger than this.

This is a fun idea. If you’re looking for more deck suggestions, I’d recommend:
Anyfin OTK Paladin
Holy Wrath OTK Pally
Midrange Shaman (rather then even shaman, you could focus on totem synergy and bloodlust, hint: Muklas Champion from TGT is underrated)
Mecha’Thun Warlock
Egg Hunter
Thanks!
Inspired by an older thread, I will try to win at least win a game in ranked before moving on. I would probably need more help improving on the deck, though!
So, after not too long, I won a legitimate game against a pirate warrior with this mech mage deck:
### Mech x2 # Class: Mage # Format: Wild # # 2x (1) Clockwork Gnome # 1x (1) Devolving Missiles # 2x (1) Hot Air Balloon # 2x (2) Annoy-o-Tron # 2x (2) Book of Specters # 2x (2) Galvanizer # 2x (2) Mechwarper # 2x (2) Snowchugger # 1x (3) Bronze Gatekeeper # 1x (3) SN1P-SN4P # 2x (4) Circus Amalgam # 2x (4) Fireball # 2x (4) Goblin Blastmage # 2x (4) Replicating Menace # 1x (4) Varden Dawngrasp # 2x (5) Fel Reaver # 1x (5) Loatheb # 1x (5) Zilliax # AAEBAcz6Awb6DqX1AqCAA5+3A+DMA53uAwyID44PlA++D4IQzu8CmPsC1/4C6rAD9N8D/Z4E1qAEAA== # # To use this deck, copy it to your clipboard and create a new deck in Hearthstone
The mech package is still strong enough to win some games, and Fel Reavers can still steal games! But, I am afraid Mage simply does not have enough support for it, even with some new support like Book of Specters and OP cards like Devolving Missiles. Adding Dr. Boom was a mistake, which hurts a bit.
I feel tempted to move on to the next archetype, if I didn't miss some strong new options for mech mage.
Here and there I go back to my very very old mech mage deck (Created: 8/12/2017), tweak it a little and update. It's basically my quest mage or rather to say my mage deck for quests :) Don't expect any wonders but it can still win on ladder. Maybe you can use some ideas there.

So, first game was against a Raza priest playing Lorekeeper Polkelt on curve, and the experience was pretty soul crushing...
I'll do some tweaks and come back stronger!
It is almost hard to believe those Mech openers were once considered cancerous...
