Card Design Competition Mid-Season Event: The TWILIGHT'S HAMMER enters the Grand Tournament!
Hello, Fan Creation Forum! We're going to take a little break from our normal Weekly Card Design Competition to celebrate a few things. The first is that we're half-way through our second competition season, and we're still going strong with ever more brilliant and innovative submissions every week! The second is the spectacular success of our first ever Class Creation Competition, where we somehow ended up with a tie that left us with two Class Creation Champions! And the third is that TGT is finally out and so now we can stop with the TGT-hype competition themes... After this last one!
This week is going to be run a little differently than usual. You may have noticed that we have two submission topics up right now, yes? Well, that's because this week we have two different competitions, one to honor each of our Class Creation Champions. You may enter both competitions, and we will crown one winner from each, so you have double the work this week and double the chances of becoming a Card Design Champion! This topic will be for Arkasaur's Twilight's Hammer class, so if you're going to participate, I highly recommend checking out the Twilight's Hammer's class's card set by clicking on the Hero Portrait for General Vezax below (be aware that a portion of the collection is in the second post of the topic):
Entry Restrictions: Your card must be a Twilight's Hammer class card. To see the existing Twilight's Hammer class cards, click on the Hero Portrait for General Vezax above (be aware that a portion of the collection is in the second post of the topic). Your card must use the Twilight's Hammer class's card border. In Hearthcards.net, you can find this by clicking "Custom Classes" (directly to the right of "2. Choose a Class") and selecting "Demon Hunter" on the bottom row. Your card must be a Grand Tournament card. In Hearthcards.net, you can mark your card with the Grand Tournament emblem watermark by looking to the right of the "Card Text" section and clicking on "Swirl, Vanilla Set" to bring up a drop-down menu where you can then click on "Tourney, Inspire, Joust".
As a reminder, here are what some Twilight's Hammer class cards look like. Again, though, if you're going to enter the competition, please click on the above hero portrait for General Vezax to be linked to the full collection (be aware that a portion of the collection is in the second post of the topic).
Competition Rules
We, the Fan Creation Forum Moderators, may edit and/or disqualify your entry if you neglect the competition's rules, so please read carefully. These measures are designed to ensure everyone has a fair and enjoyable experience during the contests!
You are allowed to submit one (1) entry per submission topic. Your entry must be a card of your own creation. You may add minimal comments to explain your card's design, balance, and/or qualities. You may not significantly alter your card once it has been submitted. (Although minor tweaks, such as to adjust balance or correct spelling errors, are acceptable.) You may not delete your submission post. Manipulating votes in any way is strictly forbidden. Any violators will receive a warning and a possible ban / disqualification from future contests. Any discussion of entries, ideas, and so on should take place in this week's designated Discussion Topic. This is the Submission Topic, and it is for submission posts and up-voting only. Recent New Rule - So called "troll entries" can be submitted but will not be able to advance to the final. Fun entries are OK, but outright, unbalanced parodies are not. If you're unsure, check with a moderator before submitting. Recent New Rule -You MUST upload your submission to a site that stores images, for example Imgur.com, Photobucket.com etc. This is for your own good as Hearthcards only keeps your image for a limited time and sometimes has problems resulting in lost images.
Competition Process
Entry Phase and Early Voting (Starts 20:00 UTC 3/September/2015, Ends 18:00 UTC 8/September/2015) It is during this Phase that you may submit entries to the Submission Topic. You may also, of course, feel free to give early up-votes to any submissions that you like!
Voting Phase (Starts 18:00 UTC 8/September/2015, Ends 18:00 UTC 9/September/2015) During this Phase, the Submission Topic will be locked, so no more entries may be submitted. Instead, use this time to browse the submissions and up-vote your favorites!
Final Phase (Starts 19:00 UTC 9/September/2015, Ends 19:00 UTC 10/September/2015) During this Phase, the Discussion Topic will also be locked, and a new Poll Topic will go up. Discussion will be allowed to continue in the Poll Topic, and it will also include all the qualifying finalists and a 24-hour poll to decide the winner of the competition!
How do we determine the qualifying finalists? First, we'll take the highest-voted entry on each page of the submission topic. Then, we'll fill in the rest using the formula detailed here...
(abc) / (de) = x
Where, a = The total number of up-votes in the entire topic. b = The total number of submissions on the same page as the submission. c = The total number of up-votes that the submission received. d = The total number of pages that the entire topic spanned. e = The total number of up-votes on the same page as the submission. x = The submission's final score.
It might seem a bit complex and convoluted, but the bottom line is that, although entries on the earlier pages of the Submission Topic are much more visible and thus receive many more up-votes than entries on later pages, you don't actually have to rush to get your entry in as soon as possible because the up-votes end up being weighted by what page your entry ends up on in order to determine its final score. It will be the ~15-25 entries that receive the highest final scores (depending on the popularity of this week's competition) that move on to the Final Phase. The spreadsheet showing the final scores of every submission will be released after each competition.
But wait, there's more! Each Fan Creation Forum moderators (plus Arkasaur, creator of the Twilight's Hammer class!) will be given a Wild Card, which they can use to advance any one entry that they feel was initially overlooked or under-appreciated to the Final Phase, regardless of its final score. Wild Cards are our way of spicing things up a bit, but please don't ask to be given one or be upset if you aren't given one. These are just supposed to be fun.
Rewards
To encourage your competitive spirit, we do of course offer a few rewards to competition winners: Their card forever immortalized in our Winners' Gallery! The card may also be featured as part of the official Twilight's Hammer topic. A unique Avatar Border & "Card Design Champion" Title, as depicted below!
(Note: As this week's competition is not part of the normal competition cycle, winners will not have the ability to help us choose any future competition themes, as would normally be the case for a standard Weekly Card Design Competition.)
Synergizes very well with Lunatic Gaze (class card) and can screw over Handlock pretty badly, wich I guess could be a bad matchup for this class (considering it is very slow-control oriented).
Firecaller Radison:(artist: unknown) I love this idea and hope u will too :) The thought came from the General Vezax'es hero power ("Despair: The first card the opponent plays next turn cost (1) more."). I wanted to make a 1 mana cost minion, that would allow u to snowball tempo from turn 1, not for 100%, but in a flavour of the class.
U see your opponent can still play 1 drop like u would, if u played this on T1 (if the card had exactly the same text as hero power, he would not be able to play anything, not Coin, not 1drop nothing) ... but if he had Coin and wanted to play 2drop on T1, he would not be able to, since the Coin would be for 0 mana, but his 2nd card would cost 1 more ... so his 2drop would cost 3 mana :) If u dont draw it in your starting hand, the effect is still usable later on to just disturb your opponents play on any given turn ;-)
Balance: its a legendary, so u can only have one of these and since it is a class legendary, its 2/2 not 2/1 ;-)
Vezax makes it already hard for the opponent to play a lot of cards, but with this legendary the opponent will have really hard choices to make on what to play. I think it is the most interesting concept of Vezax.
The idea behind it is that the copies are illusions of the ennemy minions, so really weak (1 health).
My entry to the Twilight's Hammer portion of this week:
Fits the Twilight's Hammer theme well in that there are many cards and their hero power that alter mana cost, and the Grand Tournament theme in that all classes except Paladin got a 2 mana minion, and that it has hero power interaction.
Edit: Note that for the hero power (that adjusts the first card they play) the damage will be dealt after they play that card, even though to them it would appear that all their cards had their mana costs altered.
To be clear, he doesn't die, so KT wouldn't summon two of him or anything like that. He just leaves and is summoned again. This does mean that if a Knife Juggler was on the board it would trigger a knife throw. Also since he is re-summoned if there is no open spot for him, he is just gone.
Possible cards your opponent can get from "Oblivion":
Twilight Empowerment works on both players, if you play it as the last card of your turn it will go over into your opponent's turn and his minions will cost (1) more and gain the buff, good if you have a BGH in hand.
Thanks for upvoting my design last week! Here is for this week, Twilight's Hammer submission:
It's basically a free hero power. The RNG makes me think it's balanced. It could make the opponent miss a 2 drop if coined or play a 2-drop on turn 3. Which happens a lot anyway.
EDIT: remember Despair: The first card the opponent plays next turn costs (1) more

Went with the whole inspire theme in boosting your hero powers. Not sure how useful this might be but it's something.
