This week's theme comes from Wailor and wooder, whose cards were the joint-winners of our Theme of the Year competition!
Competition-Specific Restrictions:
You must make a card that causes someone to draw a varying number of cards.
To clarify, your card must include a condition that prevents players from knowing exactly how many cards it will draw in all situations. Arcane Intellect will always draw 2 cards, assuming you have that many left, whereas Jeeves could draw 0, 1, 2, or 3 cards.
Preview Phase (Starts Now! Ends 21:00 UTC 14/2/2019) During this Phase, the Discussion Topic is made available, previewing this week's competition theme. Entry and Early Voting Phase (Starts 21:00 UTC 14/2/2019, Ends 21:00 UTC 18/2/2019) During this Phase, the Submission Topic is made available for your submissions. You may also, of course, feel free to give early up-votes to any submissions that you like! Voting Phase (Starts 21:00 UTC 18/2/2019, Ends 21:00 UTC 19/2/2019) During this Phase, the Submission Topic will be locked, so no more entries may be submitted. Instead, use this time to browse the submissions and up-vote your favorites! Final Phase (Starts 21:00 UTC 19/2/2019, Ends 21:00 UTC 20/2/2019) During this Phase, the Discussion Topic will also be locked, and a new Poll Topic will go up. Discussion will be allowed to continue in the Poll Topic, and it will also include all the qualifying finalists and poll to decide the winner of the competition!
Discussion Topic Rules
To make sure that everything runs smoothly, we need to reserve the Submission Topic for submissions only. Everything else goes here. What is everything else, you might ask?
Rules or Process. Do you have a question about the competition's process? Do you need clarification about one of the entry requirements? Are you not sure whether your entry adhered to the rules? Ask here!
Feedback or Ideas. Do you have some ideas you'd like to run by others before settling on one? Do you need help balancing or wording your entry? Do you need help finding art that will fit your card? Or do you just want feedback from the community on your entry? You're in the right place! Remember, although you are allowed to make minor tweaks to your entry after you've submitted it, you're only allowed one submission per week, so make sure that you've settled on your card for sure beforehand.
Discussion! Do you have thoughts on other people's entries? Are there directions you don't like that you're seeing too many people take? Or directions you'd like to see more people take? Would you like to help others and contribute to a greater community understanding of Hearthstone card design and balance? This is where you want to be!
All of that said, please refrain from the following:
Posting TONS of Ideas. Discussion topics become an absolute mess if everybody is posting a dozen different ideas. Please post not more than 3 distinct ideas at a time. Any more than that and we'll have to delete your post.
Advertising Your Entry. Please don't pop in here just to advertise your entry only to never be heard from again. This includes only asking short, generic, or insincere questions like "Thoughts?" or "Do you think this is interesting?". Yes, getting feedback on your entry is one of the purposes of this topic, but we're not just here for other people to help you. We're here for you all to help each other. 12 hours after this competition begins, there should be plenty of other posts here for you to give specific feedback or for you to comment on a trend. If you post your entry for feedback after this time and do not also offer some form of substantial commentary, critique, or praise of others' work, you may find your post deleted.
Plagiarism. Many people post their ideas here before finalizing them in the submission topic. Directly plagiarizing those ideas to post in the submission topic yourself is absolutely not acceptable.

Behold, foolish interlopers! I am commanding this mortal to spread the will of the Scourge throughout the interwebs, encouraging you to seek out me, Archlich Kel'Thuzad! Now coming to you as the tenth class of Hearthstone!
I am a finalist in this Class Creation Competition, so if you could give it a look I would be greatly appreciative <3
I know this is a weird question, given I suggested the theme... But would this count?
Yes, it should count. "Filling your hand" is conditional and will result in a varying number of tokens - and by extension the number of cards you could end up drawing from those tokens.

I made a card that fulfills the conditions in my Trials expansion:
This was supposed to be my replacement for Divine Favor. The Paladin's archetype was about defending oneself with quality over quantity, so you would be very likely to get the 3 cards.

Is there a limitation on the kind of card it can be( minion, spell, weapon or hero), or is anything open game?
Unless the rules specify, "open game" is the usual standpoint (as it is with this theme). You're good to make whatever you can think of :)

Is there a better way to word the condition? The idea is to exclude the draw at the start of the turn, while allowing for everything else, from two cards from Arcane Intellect to one card from Loot Hoarder if they proc it on their turn, to decking out from Myra's Unstable Element if your opponent wants to go for an out-there super punish.
Additional:
NVM, according to the mods, the "add copies" alternative would not have been within the rules.
Would "add a copy of the cards drawn" be within the rules, or does it have to be specifically your cards from your deck, even if it's technically their drawn cards?
I would say No, that is not in the rules. The variable lies in how many copies you're receiving; you're not actually influencing how many cards are drawn.

Was wondering would my valentine fitting entry count since it draws specific cards and therefore the number may vary? Asking since all the example cards draw any kind of cards and are not tied to any specific types.
Would this qualify? The amount of cards will vary, but you will know beforehand how many you'll draw when you look at your mana.
This will certainly count towards the competition, because the drawing effect has a condition. I think the card will be better, if you rename it "Forbidden something".

ihascorn: Reminds me too much of DOOM!. Dunno how to fix it though
CecilHoshino: "Whenever your opponent draws cards after the first one/additional cards... ?!
GnammyH: LotJ: Quite good! I like how it can turn into a downside. Considering UI is leaving, something like this could be necessary. The other 3 cards are just insanely powerful. The pirate could enable a Mechathun rogue...
Laurendor: The effect seems quite random. Tie it all up to make your card narrate a story. Right now it feels more like spawning spark elementals than card draw to me.
Kingdoemi: Straight forward design, but wouldn't it make more sense for weapons? E.g. attacking makes you steal a weapon...
Sinthuja: Love the flavor of this one! Could also be shared keyword or tribe.
Thezzy: Forbidden Foreboding, that is all...
YouthThunder: Fits more to Paladin in my opinion. Something like cast Blessing of Wisdom on all enemy minions.
I like the different directions so far. The theme is tricky, but looks like we will get nice results in the end :)
Would that qualify? Feedback is welcome as always :)
1) I think this counts towards the competition, though I'm not 100% sure. According to Linkblade91 Wailor's card is acceptable, although the minion itself doesn't make you draw cards.
2) I think Blasting Experiment should cost 2 (just like that Death Knight spell). Mechs aren't a common encounter in some MUs, that's why I think this condition is a good excuse to reduce the mana cost of the spell. Not to mention, in control vs control MUs fatigue matters a lot more than a 1-mana cost reduction.
3) I think Dr. Boom needs a better art. The current one is too dark.
4) The perfect flavour text/attack voice line of your card would be "Ooh, what does this button do?". If you don't use it, I will hate you forever. :D

I'm not sure I will use it because it looks too similar to Halazzi, the Lynx, but I'd still like to know.

I wonder if Talking Cricket counts...
I would go with Law of the Jungle, what do you think?

So... do cards like Acolyte of Pain count as well?
What do you guys think about this?
