I have been toying with a huge project recently, and I would like some feedback on the base ideas before I go all in on it. The project is developing a YEAR of Hearthstone, 3 expansions, with a coherent theme running through them. This would be the Year of the Demon, and essentially cover an invasion of Azeroth (exp1), gathering weapons to fight the invasion (exp2) and the final battle (exp3). I'll list my ideas below, I'd love to hear your feelings on it.
Expansion 1 - Invasion
This would feature the initial invasion by the Burning Legion. Rather than being demon focused, it would be focused on the defenders of Azeroth, and each class would have a variant on that feel. The secondary class Legendary (we all know that's how Blizz is going forwards anyway) would be an Ally. This would be a replacement hero, like Lord Jarraxus, but would only last for a set number of turns, or until defeated. They would have low health and a high cost, but significant benefits if you can sustain them for a turn or two. For example:
In this case, Rogue gains Van Cleef as an Ally for 3 turns, including the turn played. This essentially replaces the hero with Van Cleef until a) End Turn has been hit 3 times, or b) 10 Damage has been dealt to Van Cleef, who can be healed through any normal ways, like a regular Hero. Technically, it acts as a heal as well as a boost, as you are technically gaining 10 Health for 7 mana, but that is a side effect of the way this is created, and is relatively weak compared to other heals in the game.
Adventure:
I really enjoyed the Dungeon runs from K+C, and wanted to build on that. It might be a little bit close, but I think I can make it different enough to warrant it. The adventure would be repelling a demonic invasion, building your deck as you go, with help from familiar faces from HS past. 4 classes would start in Stormwind (Priest, Druid, Mage and Paladin), while 5 would start in Orgrimmar (Hunter, Rogue, Warlock, Warrior and Shaman) , and finish in their opposing cities. Meanwhile, they would (re)visit places like Naxxramas, Icecrown Citadel and Karazhan, helping past foes fight off the demon incursion. This would allow more control over encounters, removing some of the random elements, making the adventure more skill based than K+C. Also, instead of the treasures in K+C, you would be able to add powerful boss cards to your deck, which you would have a chance to play with during the battle. For example, during a battle to save Karazhan, Medivh would grant you;
which would also add this into your deck for the duration of your run:
Expansion 2 - Tools of War
The second expansion would focus on gathering Artifacts, powerful weapons to fight the legion. This would allow a break from a demonic, warlike feel, while also staying within the general storyline. Ideally I would be looking at something like MSoG, where 3 sets of 3 classes had a feel to them, while avoiding the gangs. For example, Shaman, Hunter and Priest focus on Pandaria to gather their artifacts, therefore their set has a Pandaren feel to them, with Cloud Serpents, Pandarens, Direhorns etc.
Artifacts:
I started work on this idea prior to K+C, and now feel that having two class weapon legendaries back to back is too much, therefore this expansion is delayed til EXP2. However, Artifacts would have differences to the Legendary weapons of K+C. Firstly, at the start of a game, they would break and shuffle themselves in your deck (Think Prince Malchezzar type effect). Once you draw all the pieces, they would form, and you would have the complete weapon in hand, ready to play. For example:
Adventure: The adventure would be more of a classic style adventure, closer to things like Naxx and LoE. However, you would be able to complete any of your choosing first, and that would then reward you with your free artifact. Other than that, Ideas in Progress.
Expansion 3 - Rise of the Legion
This would feature an alternate universe where Azeroth loses, and the heroes are corrupted. Ideas are still out on this past this point, although it would likely feature demonic heroes, similar to the Death Knights.
For expansion 2 you could use artifacts from the Legion expansion (Tuure, Beacon of the Naaru, Light's Wrath, Apocalypse, Scythe of Elune, etc.). The idea seems really cool and I can't wait to see the cards you come up with! Also remember that there is an entire expansion based on a Legion invasion in World of Warcraft so it'd be cool to draw characters from their and make allies from that expansion foes in the Rise of the Legion (Prince Farondis, Tyrande Whisperwind, First Arcanist Thalysara, etc.).
I really hope that you come up with the cards soon! I can't wait to see them! :)

Check out my entrant for the WCDC 9.12: Bilgewater Highroller
That third was sounds really cool, they've done that before with Ragnaros, Lightlord and the DK cards.
Looking forward to the expansions and what you to offer with them :P
I guess Rise of the Legion looks the most promising, and something like Corrupted Heroes would be kinda interesting!
Welp, also looking forward to it :3, a project that's big is a lot of work, but worth the cost.
The joke is you.
Legendary Tri-Class Cards... Then Legendary Spells... Then Legendary Heroes... Then Legendary Weapons...
According to your continuation, Legendary Allies, Artifacts, and legendary heroes 2.0... When are legendary minions going to get a turn?
(Anyway, I look most forward to the Tools of War expansion, and how you can make it interesting and uniquely different from KnC)
Wished to be pink.
Then did.
Then fired myself.
Then did again.
