This change was being experimented with a while ago but now im starting to think its the new evolution for CW seeing as so many lists are picking it up and you see less of acolytes and a lot less taskmasters. So is this the CW of the future or will people go back to the usual lists with the taskmasters and acolytes?
I think it is meta dependent. Cruel taskmasters are better in an agro meta where there are a lot of minions with 1 health, and if you add in taskmasters then you might as well add in acolytes. If the meta is mostly paladin (or control/midrange decks) where you have things like shielded mini bot then you are better off using slam and bash.
The change seems focused on increasing survivability in a meta where you can't rely on your Taskmasters killing anything or your Acolytes drawing more than one card. The increased popularity of Priest with double Cabal may also play a factor, though that's probably a minor concern all things considered. It's certainly an interesting change, and I'll be curious to see if it becomes the standard.
It is really dependant on the deck and what you are trying to achieve... for example i have 2x Slam and 2x Bash in my warrior deck. This is because it focuses more on dragging the game out till turn 10 and aiming for Varian Wrynn. Taskmaster i mainly viewed as a trigger for patrons and grommash, but slam serves that purpose just fine imo.

Nothing doing, traveler.
