I never really thought of building a control warrior, because it's too expensive and requires a lot legendaries+epics. I decided to give it a try now, because I already got 2x shield slam gorehowl and of course armorsmiths/shieldmaidens from packs and I have solid base of neutral legendaries either crafted or from packs, like Sylvanas, Dr boom, Ragnaros, Alex or Iron Juggernaut so I thought I'd give it a try. I have built a little more midrange version with piloted shredders for better midgame trading since I don't have brawl reset opportunity. Grommash is a popular finisher I don't have too, so I tried Iron juggernaut for slower games that will eventually go to fatigue. I play my version casually and it sometimes works sometimes not.
Do you think it's worth trying it competetive without these 2 cards? I don't think so, but in casual my version is playable, so I can play it sometimes.
By the time you win enough matches in casual ranked isn't much different honestly, and barring possible frustration of losing ranks there's never any harm in playing it. I would just go for it, and make any possible card swaps if you feel your deck is lacking after playing for awhile. You should probably craft Brawl as soon as you can at least since you'll most likely find you need stronger AoE clear, and while Grommash Hellscream is a powerful finisher if Iron Juggernaut works for you I wouldn't worry until you get higher ranked.
I would say without gromm the deck loses a LOT but brawl is not actually a requirement. I usually actually choose not to use brawl even though I have both copies. I have recentally subbed a brawl back in for the current meta but its certainly more of a tech card then a requirement and something that gorehowl (I actually dislike this card but hey many love it and find success with it) can help mitigate.
Gromm is really a required card in many cases though and probably wouldnt play the deck without him. The only true saving grace is the fact that people are still going to have to play around him and assume you do have him. I guess leeroy could do in a pinch though as its still decent damage on a charge minion but the deck will lose a lot of consistency when it comes time to close out the game.
Thanks for answers, this was probably my main question if control is worth playing without these 2 cards seen in almost all cw decks (for a good reason ofc) And I tested it in some games in casual, it can work, but I'd rather try ranked with a full deck including brawl+Grom. So I'll just let my version for playing some quests/games for fun, so I can try to learn playstyle of a new archetype for me and eventually I'll complete the deck if I'll like it.
