long time ago tempo warrior was really strong. There was a 10 mana card which draws 3 cards and puts all drawn minions on board. I also remember tempo dragon warrior, super strong as well! Now these decks are only playable in wild though.
Since when was Varian Wrynn a good card? LOL
To be fair i never heard Varian Wrynn is good back in the days of TGT. Perhaps he is referring to a Wild meta long time ago, I think Varian Wrynn is a good card in WIld too.
Recently I've been using the list below and came to a few conclusions.

Countess Ashmore, even when you get to tutor three cards off her, is a questionable card to include. At turn 7 onwards she does no good for you by drawing e.g. Woodcutter's Axe and a random Rush minion (assuming Zilliax was drawn regularly before which you should). That's because unlike The Curator she doesn't impact the board when played so your opponent might just ignore her and take advantage of your tempo loss by going face really hard. I'm tempted to replace her with 1x Battle Rage which nearly always draws between 2-4 cards and is just so much more efficient. Especially given that you get to tutor multiple Rush cards anyway via Town Crier and Akali, the Rhino (which seems somewhat underwhelming every now and then but that's a different story).
As you can see I've tinkered with the deck so that it's ready for the upcoming rotation (with the exception of Blood Razor). At first my plan was to go for a more aggressive route (e.g. Raging Worgen instead of Rabid Worgen) but I found that Festeroot Hulk is a surprisingly good card if you have a sufficient number of Rush minions. It's quite resilient and can quickly spiral out of control if left unchecked, similar to Frothing Berserker.
However, the MVP card is Spirit of the Rhino without question. You might play e.g. Inner Rage on your Zilliax and it doesn't even lose the bubble on its first trade! The only thing which will be missing are enough triggers for Grommash Hellscream but maybe the archetype is going to see more support considering that Scourgelord Garrosh is going to rotate out as well.
All in all, Rush Warrior definitely has potential even though that its nemesis, Odd Warrior will probably remain a viable contender too.

Tempo Warrior with Varian Wrynn had its moment of glory a long time ago, but it was for a very short period of time. I remember that very well, hehe. ;)

Does it need hard removal though? I mean there are no Execute or anything in this deck.
I have had lots of fun and decent success with vicious syndicates rush warrior list, can only recommend it as it uses a lot of cards from the year of the raven and therefore feels fresh and is surprisingly strong. Quite expensive though, I happened to have all the cards and was happy to use them in a deck that actually works (mainly akali and countess Ashmore). So if you have the cards/dust, give this list a spin!

That's where T5 need to come up with good support cards so we don't have to make use of the classic toolkit aka Whirlwind, Slam and/or Execute. The current Keleseth lists don't run any of those cards as well. Warpath is a card better suited for Control purposes so that's out of question too. The new weapon (Overlord's Whip) is just bad though as could be observed when Animated Berserker was introduced. In my opinion Rush Warrior post-rotation just needs to find a good balance between cards to control the board and cards to put pressure on the opponent. You'd still need replacement for Blood Razor and Scourgelord Garrosh (another way to swap the heropower similar to the DK would be fine, the weapon was just icing on the cake) but that's not a hole which couldn't be filled - at least I hope so.
From an avid Warrior player for 4 long years, Standard Tempo Warrior is only ever a house of cards. One thing goes wrong and the deck falls to pieces.
WIll the deck still work in Standard? Yes. Will it work consistently there? Never. In Wild there's Alex's Champion and busted legendaries to make it more consistently powerful, but in Standard there's nothing keeping the deck from losing to the slightest semblance of a roadblock. And generally speaking, if a deck can't run a combo or FLJ and isn't aiming to kill on turn 6 then there's never a reason to play it in Standard - right now, at least.
