I have been seeing a lot of Quest warriors on ladder and I must say, I do like it. I remember saying that there will come cards that will revive QW, back when people were discussing how bad it is and I am glad that I was right.
However. I saw (literally) all of them use Fiery War Axe instead of King's Defender as their weapon. What possible reason do they have to use the War axe over King's defender, other than pure nostalgia? King's Defender is just objectively better and I thought it would be a no-brainer to use that in a deck that is hecking built around Taunt minions.
I suspect this is another case of unoriginality and lack of inspiration when it comes to HS players. One guy probably figured out a good deck for QW after the expansion launch, maybe forgot all about King's Defender, posted the deck online and lazy, unimaginative people mindlessly copied the deck. I don't like net decking but I can understand why people do it but in this case, it anyone using this build of QW just outed themselves as completely lacking any imagination, when it comes to creating HS decks and that has come back to punish them.
If someone can actually make a case for Firey War Axe over King's Defender in a quest warrior deck, then I will eat my gosh darn hat, I tell you hwat
EDIT: I am talking about wild, forgot to clarify, my bad.
Well, King's Defender is Wild only, but I'm assuming you're already playing Wild, in which case, not a valid point.
Anyway, King's Defender costs 100 dust each.
Yeah, sorry I did mean Wild. Well the quest costs 1600, if you can afford that, you can probably afford to craft 2 weapons that are superior to the one you have.
Maybe they forgot it existed because of how terrible it used to be compared to the fiery win axe
Possible but it got a lot of buzz around it when Firey War Axe got nerfed and people were using it just in pirate warrior decks because Firey was so bad. I don't play warrior and even I remember the card lol
Phantom Militia is great for the archetype, however every Quest Warrior I am coming across is playing Baku.
And I am asking myself...why?
They use their hero power like, 3 times on average before playing Sulfuras. That's 6 armor more than using the regular Warrior hero power. Pretty much a free Iron Hide. Is that really worth handicapping your deck by playing only odd cards?
I've played Quest Warrior myself (minus Baku) since the release and it is amusing watching Aggro Paladins/Hunters/Mages bash their heads against the taunts and armor and get nowhere.
Wouldn't worry too much about the Shudderwock, seem like something already happened to it. Now though, taunt druid and taunt warrior will get eaten up by midrange decks and thus the meta fluidity continues as expected.

I never understood that either but oh well, they can handicap themselves and give away wins if they want. I too am having a blast killing aggro but I’ve been using whirlwind/rush to do it. Very satisfying and viable against everything aside from cubelock.

Well Tank up hero power was the ultimate CW weapon in the past. As you can see, some guy even dont play Quest when they go Odd. The feeling of building unbreakable wall is what make CW fun for a lot of players.
Now with deck like otk shaman or cubelock, this is not enough but when you paladin for example, you will hate the tank up hero power
With the older decks that were created pre-Fiery War Axe nerf, I can definitely see why they'd run that card over any other 2-3 mana weapon because the 2 mana 3/2 was just strictly better.

All late/control decks are dead. Unless Shudderwock gets disabled and changed.

Quest warrior is terrible against Shudderwock - infact any warrior is terrible against Shudderwock!
The quest can't do anything for you when you've 7 Shudderwocks against your face! :o

All Control/Value type decks will lose to Shudderwock (infinite Value) duh. It's Jade idol all over again.
