Control warrior has always been my favorite achertype. But since getgezan a lot changed. On the one side we have the aggro decks stronger than ever before, pirate warrior, aggro rogues. But that's not even the biggest problem. In my opinion Jade decks, especially druids, are the pure death.
I remember the good times when your goal was to get past turn 7 or 8 with CW. But now there is no future for CW. What warrior achertypes will be played? Of course pirate, or maybe midrange.
The problem of CW in the last expasion is not Jade druid. Its because Reno deck with kazakus totally out control CW. Its ok to have 1 very bad match up and decent to godlike in other matchup, but the last expansion, CW nearly auto lose vs Reno, vs control priest, and ofc Jade druid. Thats why CW completely fall out of favour.
However in this expansion, Reno rotate out so 2 of the stronger Reno deck: Renolock and renomage basically dead. PRiest lost Entomb and all most their dragon package. So I dare to say that even if the Druid matchup still unwinable, CW will comeback. And with the quest being Control , I have quite a lot of hope.
As a long time control warrior player i don't think there is a particular reason to hate jade mechanic. Control warrior used to be destroyed by good control priest players or midrange paladin. And believe me, it was a really slow, exhausting, painful death.
If your goal is to sit behind armor, removing everything from a board and be 100% passive until fatigue/golden monkey - you have to expect that it's extremely annoying for some players and they will try counter you with jades.
On the other hand - Jade druid is beatable for control warrior if your deck is more proactive. Play frothing berserkers, some sticky minions like cairne, ysera, maybe include some buff mechanic or add n'zoth - and suddenly - impossible becomes possible!
I would rather lose to jade druid(at some point i know that i can't win and just concede) than to old control priest thoughtstealing and entombing all of my late game until fatigue or to midrange paladin who force all my minions to play with fire and follow the rules.
Yes, and despite what everyone says it is currently playable. Just not how most people like to play it.
You now will need a win condition because just waiting to fatigue your opponents to death isn't a good option against jades, or reno decks. Jades are beatable, but it's just a class that you are unfavored against, just like how you are favored against pirate warrior. Also most people say jade druid makes the deck COMPLETELY unplayable, this is wrong for one reason. Not every single deck you will ever come up against is jade druid. it is the same thing to say Pirate warrior is completely unplayable because Reno Jackson exists, so stop whining and learn to make new strategies for your decks.
Nah, even running cards like Ragnaros and Grommash you will have a rough time against all the jade decks, especially jade druid. Justicarr is rotating out and at the same time we're getting a crap load of Elemental decks that work in a similar fashion to jade decks, flooding the board with more and more power turn after turn. On top of that we're gonna have new archetypes like the crazy looking Discardolock, which will get completely out of hand if you don't kill it fast. Turtling, multi-answer decks are going to have a really hard time in hearthstone for the foreseeable future.
I think there is hope, the new legendary already looks promising with a whirlwind this becomes a sort of deathwing, sleeping with the fishes is also a overlooked card in my opinion. Also the new Elise is a neutral which can give some durability. The discover spell could be a replacement for golden monkey, tag one in your deck and look for big threats, al though it is not as stable as the old Elise. And of course it depends on how the warrior quest is going to look, most of the quests give a big late game minion or effect, so hoping that this is the same for warrior.
CW is not dead because Jade Druid as Freeze Mage was not dead becasuse CW.
Some decks have an unwinnible macth up.
Jade druid is unwinnible, pirate warrior is not so easy how much people think, the shield slam is useless because you never have armor left, dragon priest steal your best cards with OP Draconid, Reno outvalue you with Brann + Kazakus and shaman with jade just make you run out of resources because they need only two of this OP and undercosted minions in board, etc...
The only deck CW is really strong is freeze mage, sometimes you see one, but it is almost impossible to play CW in this meta, for me is sad, CW is my favorite deck.
I play control warrior in standard and there are two cards I use in my deck that have really helped improve my match against jade.
Blood Warriors allows for the chance to win the value race against your opponent and never even get to that unbearable fatigue state. I see people use it with giants alot but I prefer to use emperorthaurissan and big value minions like Ysera
[card]alexstrasza[/card This allows you to put yourself into a position to burst your opponent down quickly before the jades ever get to be a threat. Use this with Gorehowl and Grom for a quick finish.
These are not going to make it a slam dunk but I have found that Jades don't cause near the headache they used to. I really only have trouble with Reno mages. But even then its all about how well you draw and play around their potions.

What do you think will be the future of warriors?
Jade will get rotated out.

for now I cannot see any future for CW until jade will be gone since they also did not bring out any supporting cards for this archetype with ungoro.
will be tough with justicar leaving as well.. I'll try it in wild and see what happens
Renounce Darkness

Golden legendary cards opened: Ragnaros the Firelord, Auctionmaster Beardo, Kalimos, Primal Lord

CW was a favourite for me too but it won't work until sh!tty Jade Idol rotate out. All kind of control play ruined by a 1-mana card.
Hearthstone is a game of "copy and pasting"
As long as Jade Idol is in the game, control warrior wont be.

let's wait for the warrior quest and reward, I bet it's gonna be for control style play, especially that all the quests are quite slow

Maybe, if they release an infinite value tool with immediate impact like Shadowverse's Ouroboros
I really hope they don't continue to push Taunt Warrior. Especially with Bolster rotating out.
