The reason I suspect the first combo is prefered over the second is because Charge is a wasted slot at pretty much any other time, especially in a control deck. There are few if any cards that really need charge so badly that you would put a card in your deck specifically for that purpose. Sure both are combos, but one has pieces that work on their own, while the second has a much more narrow use.

I make it super consistent with Grim Patron+Battle Rage, drawing whole deck in a breeze. I cut most threats while doing this, leaving only those I really need.
I may post decklist if you want.

Is there any reason warrior prefer
Axe; Alexstrasza into Grommash Hellscream + Inner Rage 2turn combo
against
Axe; Alexstrasza + Charge + Inner Rage OTK?
Yea, you need to reduce cost on both cards, but is that that hard to pull? I mean seriously, it's OTK against TTK. No healing can break a combo.
Am I the only one seeing this?

Nope, not them. You need that against decks that can remove all of your wincons and heal up after alex. Priests can do that, for example.
Priests can counter Alex + Grommash combo, killing Alex and healing face.
Priests can't counter OTK (well, they can taunt at best).
