I have been experimenting all day with new ideas and decks nothing serious mostly casual and abusing that sweet diamond 5 rank floor before beginning the long road home to legend. However one thing I keep coming up against with all my ideas is that outside of priest there doesn't appear to be a direct counter deck for Warlock specifically Galakrond Warlock at least not that I can see but I am not a great player so I thought I would call upon you lot to take part in a discussion thread to counter Galakrond warlock.
So when I want to counter a deck or class I usually look for its weaknesses and tech cards that mess with it but my problem is I cant seem to find a weakness to this deck except for playing priest or galakrond warlock so instead I will list its strengths and maybe we can bounce ideas around or at the very least you can call me a scrub, tell me to git gud and point out the obvious deck that I have missed lol.
Strengths
Draw - This is by far the main reason this deck feels broken to me it never runs dry it always has answers mostly due to Veiled Worshipper I'm not sure why more people aren't up in arms over this card, its a 4 mana 5/4 already decent stats with an incredibly easy to fulfil stipulation. This along with plague of flame I predict will render warlock a galakrond only class for the next year at least in terms of mid-range and control archetypes.
Healing - Early pressure was my initial go to for countering this deck and then I went for late game burn both are countered by a 3 card package that allows them to heal between 8 - 16 health in one turn. Nether Breath on a minion while Mo'arg Artificer is on board allows them to clear 8 health and heal 8 if they do this twice in a single turn they can heal 16 damage and clear two significant threats for the low low cost of 6 mana leaving them 4 mana to draw 3 more cards and develop their own board lol.
Swing Turns - Galakrond, the Wretched his battlecry is actually fairly balanced its the rest of the deck that makes it hard outside of a nuts draw rogue I don't think there is a deck that invokes quicker or is able to drop galakrond on turn 7 as consistently as warlock and a turn 7 drop wouldn't be so bad if that was all you have to contend with but once you clear the demons, you have to worry about Dragonqueen Alexstrasza and finally if you have made it that far...
Odd Paladin - So you have survived to the late game, you removed the demons you got lucky there where only 2 Priestess and then you slew the dragonqueen and her minions, but alas poor non warlock you're running low on cards but hope abounds because so is your opponent and then it hits you, your heart quickens with fear, your forehead moistens in terror and you have the sudden urge to go fetal you're not playing hearthstone 2020 you're playing hearthstone 2018 and your'e not facing warlock but odd paladin and they have a card that the moment you slip and lose momentum will guarantee him lethal, a never ending army of 1/1 imps march toward you along with the rag tag remnants of the opponents deck, you hack and slash and kill countless imps a netherwing here and that keldan they have in their deck for no reason but alas you top deck a pesky albatross and now you face he who shall not grant silence or hex but will always grant Bloodlust, Savage Roar or having slain the imps this card will ask you to put your faith in the light Tirion Fordring the one the only Zephrys the Great, to be honest most of the time in a lot of decks zeph is decidedly average but they couldn't fit that on the card art.
so if you have a deck that beats galakrond warrior or some ideas for tech options that might fit in any deck to counter some of the above please comment below, Oh and no I don't play demon hunter actually so I'm not just on here whinging because warlock counters my face deck :P
I've been playing Galakrond warrior (with a small taunt package) and I've gone 2-0 against Galakrond warlock so far.
It's kinda frustrating because, as you said, they keep removing your minions, playing decent sized stuff and healing themselves without ever running out of cards. Despite that though, I felt like I had the upper hand the entire time, I just had to pump threat after threat and keep hitting them in the face until they went down.
Edit: this is the deck in case you're interested (I can link the replays as well if you need)
Really spell druid? I thought with all the clears warlock has it would be 50/50 or unfavoured but I haven't looked into it thanks!
Stats show 60% winrate for Druid. It's by no means a cakewalk, but it's favourable. With Godfrey's rotation, a Soul of the Forest board is usually game over.
Also, Nethering costs 5 and needs another dragon in hand to be active, so it's not something they actually keep, so it's surprising the amount of times you can jam a Glowfly on T5 (or earlier with coin/innervate) and have it stick.
You also go really wide, and can go so multiple times, which makes a full clear Plague of Flames difficult to achieve.
Druid also has a lot of draw, comparable to Warlock's, so it can constant reload boards, which other classes can't really do.
Galakrond Warlock has many good removals, but not that many offensive tools, and he's also lacking straightforward win condition, other than beating you to death, using whatever in his disposal. He has Dragonqueen Alexstrasza in very late game and obviously Galakrond, the Wretched but that's about it. On average they are both pretty strong cards, but not very reliable due to RNG (even if you pull them off smoothly, they still can screw you with low roll, weak minions).
Pressure him as much as possible with constant threats and be prepared for his two big turns. It's not that hard, since he runs out of steam pretty quickly. Couple Druid archetypes (Spell, Big, Embiggen, Token) have good matchups against him, because they have more threats, than Warlock has answers. That's the key to success.
Hey guys,

Removal - Plague of Flames, Crazed Netherwing, Dark Skies,Sacrificial Pact and Mortal Coil all crazy efficient especially the first 2 the rest are actually really well balanced imho.

Spell Druid, Kael'thas Demon Hunter, Face Teron Hunter, Bomb Warrior all do very well against Warlock.

If Spell Druid manages to stick a Soul of the Forest, it's GG for Warlock most of the time
You can't stop the signal.
