Currently rank 2 with Even Warlock. One matchup in particular bothers me: Deathrattle Hunter. The win rate is supposedly 45% but I think I've lost every time I faced a Deathrattle Hunter so I must be doing something wrong. Is there any trick to the matchup? What do you mulligan for?
The basic game plan of hitting face hard doesn't seem to work that well due to Spider Bombs and Hunter's Mark, which are efficient at getting rid of giants and drakes. I've tried to hard mulligan for spellbreaker and AOEs instead, not very successful either, especially if the hunter plays Deathstalker Rexxar early as he can then play bigger minions and/or minions that are poisonous etc.
A bit surprised no one else has answered yet, a 45% match-up should be possible to win on a routine basis...
I've won this match-up last night for the first time, unsurprisingly it's because I drew well and my opponent didn't,
I played two small minions on turn 3 with the coin to deal with a spider bomb, into double giant, my opponent had no egg, no Rexxar and was able to deal with only one giant, I won on turn 8.
Dunno about your cardpool but control-warlock could be an option... Lord Godfrey can be a tough boardclear... I've learned yesterday an important lesson regarding the matchup vs control-lock...
The DR-Hunter setup is changing, my guess is that you'll find a few variations...

DR Hunter has efficient single-target removal (Hunter's Mark, Spider Bomb) which lines up really well against what Even Warlock is designed to do (drop 1 big idiot per turn).
You have to hope (a) that they whiff on the removal and/or (b) their draw isn't strong enough to get anything done in the midstages of the game.
I lost this match up last night as the DR Hunter because my minion draw was so bad, I had to rely on Rexxar minions to keep me above water. But once I missed on a decent Rexxar monster, I fell too far behind.
This matchup feels unwinnable. I've tried many techs, none of them helps. The entire problem is that hunters will always mulligan for Play Dead, so not even Skulking Geist matters by the time you get to play it. Has anyone figured out a working strategy?
It's very hard that you'll win as a control deck against any current iteration of hunter simply because deathstalker rexxar current average beast value is pretty high and they'll eventually outvalue you. If they don't draw rexxar you can win, pressure them and hope to end it quick and that once you have pressure on them they don't roll some bonkers op beast like scalehide+hydra to stabilize
The way you win is by shutting down their egg and controling the board so he doesn't go wild with Carnivorous Cube, then you can outvalue him with your DK. Sometimes killing egg with your minions is the right thing to do, specially if you have AOE.
I'm now at rank 5-2 on the standard ladder, about 25% of my game vs Hunter. And it is an auto-lose for me, does not depend on what deck I play (even Warlock, odd Warrior, tempo and Shudderwock Shaman, Spiteful Druid). I included 2 silent cards and remove weapon in my deck but it did not help. I have been played for 3 years, reached rank 1 or legend in every month, and have enough skill and cards to play any deck. Can anyone give me some advice?
I tech in Demonic Projects and Sac Pacts into my evenlock deck, and I've held onto my mossy horror tech in the deck. Most of the time you want to try to hit one of their cubes or their big Dino's with the demonic project, and try to limit their deathrattles on board, even if it's unfavorable for the moment. Leaving a 5/5 dino on the board is better than leaving an unpopped egg due to their deathrattle procs.
Use a deck with a favourable matchup vs cube hunter. I made it to legend with odd and even paladin. Even warlock wasn't working for me due to hunters...
2. You hard mulligan for Giants, Drakes, Geist and Spellbreakers.
3. You pray he doesn't go second, so he can't coin Egg into Stalker, If he does you drop Gastropod on turn 3, to contest 5/5 if he decides to trigger deathrattle.
4. You Spellbreaker Egg ASAP, that means if he drops Egg on 3, you coin out Spellbreaker instead of playing your 3 mana giant.
5. You Skulking Geist ASAP, This will completely shutdown his tempo and will put you ahead in the fatigue game, although this matchup rarely goes into fatigue if you play it right.
6. You put as much pressure on his face as you can, you should be the aggressor in this game.
7. You always try to remove Houndmaster Show and the big beasts, if any of them get cubed and deathrattle triggered, this may lead to bad consequences.
8. Before turn 8, he is most likely gonna have Kathrena in hand, thats hunters main win condition and a really high tempo play, that can swing the boardstate into hunters favour. Thats where you want to play your Gastropod, it completely denies him that high tempo turn 8 play and he will be forced to do something else.
That's pretty much it.
Here is an example of a game, I think a fair game considering rng, he got lucky at some things, I got lucky at others, both with strong opening hands.
I figured it out. Skulking Geist. It kills Play Dead. The main issue is that they play cube and play dead in the same turn. But without PD, you can just silence the cube. EZ games.
Even warlock is still a thing? what does it look like now?
Is it the same as it was like 6 months ago, or use any current set cards? (genuinely not seen many warlocks lately)
Pretty much the same build. Some people are playing around with Mojomaster Zihi in one of the tech slots. I've also seen Cheaty Anklebiter run which can be quite nice to buff your spellstones or set up defiles against a board of 3 health guys.

yep, that's how it's supposed to be :*, but it's not that easy anyways
only losing to evenlock if they are drawin nuts 8/8 into 8/8
sometimes a bit hairy if lock changes to dk, but i.g. 2x 4/4 and 2x 2/4 taunt isn't that big of a deal
Rushing him down seems kind of legit and like a plan, do it
Thanks!

Spellbreaker is your best card in the matchup, silencing the egg early is crucial. Twilight Drake or Vulgar Homunculus + Lesser Amethyst Spellstone is also a keep.

Here is how you win against deathrattle hunter:
1. You stick 2x Stubborn Gastropod, Skulking Geist and a The Black Knight into your deck. This is actually one of the best evenlock builds in current meta.
2. You hard mulligan for Giants, Drakes, Geist and Spellbreakers.
3. You pray he doesn't go second, so he can't coin Egg into Stalker, If he does you drop Gastropod on turn 3, to contest 5/5 if he decides to trigger deathrattle.

The main problem is you can't play Nether and silence a Cube in the same turn. Idk how to get around this.
I like to make cards and discuss game balance.
I enjoy when "No similar decks were found."

Hit him in the head til he dies.
