im currently rank 20 after playing around with whiz learning to play other classes, not exactly the best player as my lowest rank is 16. I've currently been running the meta zoo with soularium etc. is gul'dan a viable add for late game to survive? i've had several losses where if i had an extra turn, had lethal with doomguard, etc.
Honestly, guldan is a good card in any deck . Only issue us possibility of drawing him early or with soularium since he can then be made unplayable. But I've got him in my zoo deck at rank 7 and he's doing just fine there, so go ahead
Didn't Keleseth zoolocks run Bloodreaver Gul'dan back in the KotFT meta after the nerfs? Gul'dan is a very strong late game tool even for zoolocks so if that's what you need go for it. Of course there is the anti-synergy with the soularium as people have already stated but it might still be worth the risk.
so far, i've saved soularium as much as possible to attempt to draw lethal with doomguard, and thats about it, unless i need to heal to survive for next turn lethal
Don't play it, you need to pressure your opponent a very often the game is decided before you can even play guldan. The thing is, you play soulfires and doomguards (at least one usually) and the chance that you draw them together and discarding the guldan is very big. I suggest playing soularium, its a very good card, play if after turn 5 and it will be a card of a big value.

Guldan is a great card and zoo is a great deck again..
But in my experience I never had good luck with it. With a doomguard and 2 soulfire has well as a solarium... your just asking for it to get discarded. Plus, your zoo games shouldn't even last til 10 mana, its an aggro deck, my average games were never more than 8 or 9 mana to finish him... fatality!!!
Ignoring the fact that you will discard him most of the time. Let's say you draw him as the final card in your deck and you play him. If your opponent is still alive and you are playing Guldan, you have already lost that game.
I wouldn't recommend running him in the current Zoolock lists, but it's definitely a must-have card in a slower, more midrange list. Another user mentioned that Soularium and Gul'Dan are bad together, which is probably reason enough, but also like you said OP that a Doomguard or Leeroy generally closes the game better.
I've been having a blast with a Spiteful Summoner home-brew that plays like Zoo in the early game, gets value from Witch's Cauldron, and finishes with Gul'Dan (and/or Spiteful swings).
As for the meta Heal Zoo type of lists, I think Gul'Dan is unnecessary; Soularium/Leeroy/Doomguard are all better options since turn 5 wins are the goal.

I don't have much experience with Zoo but I don't think running Soularium and Bloodreaver Gul'dan together is a great idea.
As an aggro, you should push lethal, turn 10 is a lot..
Control deck break you at turn 10

oh yeah i suppose that is true
I remember the old days:
Use soulfires with more than 6 cards in hands, discard gul'dan.
