So, I played some Zoolock these days and it felt pretty meh, sometimes even awfully weak.
I know how to play Zoolock, it is one of my most played archetypes in HS and I went with it many times to rank 5-3 (yes, not "top", but not bad either). I especially love the Midrange Zoolock back in the old days with Creeper, Nerubian Eggs and POW, because of all the synergy between the cards you can make.
But the current Zoolock doesn't feel smooth at all for me. Yes, if you draw perfectly a big Lightwarden or early Happy Ghoul is very nice - but most of the time the synergies don't come together and every of these cards are rotting in my hand or I have to play them for their full cost, because I have no other cards left and a vanilla 3/3 for 3 or vanilla 1/2 for 1 is totally bad.
This deck is so weak, it even lost me a game against an Bomb Hunter and an 100% Rush Warrior in the Heroic Brawl. :D
Yes, Zoo should be good against slow decks, which just hero power + emote like 3-4 turns. But against other decks which have some fast openings, Zoolock fells pretty fast behind and has no real chance to recover, when you have a slower start. In the past you could at least have a chance for a comeback with Voidcaller pulling Doomguard or Mal Ganis from your hand. But now, if you are behind at one point, you have lost.
Blizzard should make a special stream lessons or youtube videos in which they explain the the only way hs should be played is with supa dupa 1000 IQ control/combo homebrewed decks and 30 minutes long match is a minimum time period that proves you're not braindead blah blah something etc.
Sounds like you're playing Wild to me. Of course one of the best standard decks can't compete in wild.
As for brawliseum, every deck is being teched against yours, so that could explain it. And if you can't beat a bomb hunter with this deck, maybe its not just the deck's fault ;)
Its cheap-ish and easy to play, these kind of decks have always been popular. Besides that it has its counters like most other decks, but also the possibility of beating its bad matchups through highrolling the first couple turns
It's a cheap, efficient aggro deck that can get you to Legend but only if played correctly.

I don't like the heal version of Zoolock either. It's OK if you can cheat out a Happy Goul early, but otherwise healing isn't exactly impacting the board of killing your opponent.

I laughed.
I mean he isn't wrong. There are plenty of people who will fail to even reach rank 10 playing zoo. The aggro hate boner is obnoxious in this community.

OMEGALUL
People want autopilot decks that misplays aren’t punished. Cowards imo. I play controlock and shit all over them.
i agree that it is easily countered. After 3-4 AOEs they concede. That’s OMEGALOL!
Maybe you just don't know how to play Zoolock. I think that's more likely.

Because it's a stupid easy, stupid cheap deck that is a 60% winrate 40+% of the population plague on the ladder?

I don't think it's a great deck. It mainly punishes weak decks and gets countered by strong one's
