People say it's necessary because streamers play it. But we're just at the begining and the meta is not clearly shaped.
If you ask me it's not a safe craft. I mean the best case scenario is to play against an aggro/flood deck and to have this on turn 4 with barnes or turn 5 from the recruit cards. On turn 9 this card is as good as Sogoth the Slitherer (worse actually) and you didn't play Sogoth now did you.
Not to mention that it ruins most of your Bloodreaver Gul'dan's plays. Summoning 5-6 Voidwalkers is not good.
The irony with Voidlord is that it's good against aggro matchups, but at this point (turn 9) the aggro decks fail most of the time. So you would play 2 Voidlords just in case you don't draw them and Recruit them or summon them with the Warlock artifact? Just doesn't sound right.
I don't have a list yet, but I am pretty sure that any "Contolish" warlock that has 2 Voidwalkers and 2 Homunculus and 2 Dreadlords does pretty well against aggresive decks, if aggro is your problem.
summoning void Walkers back is pretty good the worst thing about guldan is when you can not play it because you would die.
Also sogoth is way worse it has no synergy and ist immunity is useless against aggro/tempo decks because they do not run spells that are good at removing it anyway also sogoth is so horrible against vilespine slayer
That still doesn't make Voidlord a card that would make the cut. I'll say this again. You can put 2 Homunculus and 2 Voidwalkers and have good matchups vs aggro decks. Voidlord is expensive and unless you have a fully reliable way to summon him on turn 5, it's an irrelevant card. You don't want to stop aggro decks on turn 9. You want to stop them on turn 4-5.
And yes it ruins Gul'dan. If you cast Gul'dan to survive, sure Voidwalkers are good. But if you want to extract extra value against late game decks like Druids or Priests, then Voidwalkers are a waste.
As someone above said, the good thing with these cards is that you control the outcomes. If the outcomes are random, then you lose consistency.
If you have quest you can go for handlock/quest with cataclysm. Burns a lot of cards for you, but constant free tempo after portal is definitely worth it.
you know both of those decks are weak against solid aggression right??, Warlock has become the ant-aggro god that's actually really weak against control so it's a fair trade-off.
Voidlord seems almost negligible in control matches. Yesterday I played against a Control Warlock, he summoned 9 Voidlords in the match but I still won with my classic Medivh Warlock (with Rin). So
I would say again: it isn't a necessary craft at all. It is much more popuar than how strong it is.

unless you run a deck that 100% counters aggro whose sole purpose is to summon voidlord.. that deck has 60% win rate according to HS replay BTW. and you might jsut throw in rin to fight control decks.
you play barnes, and the 2/2 summon a demon, and ONLY voidloerd as a demon, then you can ressurect those with N'zoth and DK.
if you don't want to run [card[voidlord[/card] the Rin, the First Disciple, Medivh, the Guardian package is good. You would only really want to run voidlord (optimally at least) if you have a way of pulling them via Master Oakheart or Skull of the Man'ari. This is not to say you can't use the card without these other set up's, as you can also run an n'zoth deck. just it's better if you can get more value from the card by playing it for free.

In which universe full AoE t4/t5 is weak against aggro?

Sure, and before Secret Mage, Exodia mage could also burn Jaraxxus out pretty easily, even without the combo.

Any Control lock without Void Lord is inferior. Period. It's one of the strongest cards in the game at the moment and by far and away the best demon.
There are combo or zoo locks you can try but Control Lock without Void isn't very good.
Honestly, straight up playing Void Lord on 9 >>> Medivh into twisting nether. Not to mention if you cheat out the Void Lord.
