I really don't understand people saying they beat zoo with this deck... I'm rank 5 right now, and I win almost every matchup EXCEPT zoo.. I'm must be unlucly with the draws, or very bad at this game
I think you are right, that 20-22 cards are already chosen for you in any Shaman deck. I have been playing a variation on this and doing quite well. For every card I think to swap in for a situation, there's already something else that takes care of it. This is a good balance of utility and finishing power. Well done.
Hey Nuba. I'm totally a fan! I used this deck to go from rank 18 to rank 8 last night without a problem. I probably won like 14 games in a row. However, I did switch out one unbound elemental for a blood knight. I did this because I feel that it can provide a huge tempo advantage over a paladin or zoo who love to run divine shield, but more because I don't ever feel like I use two unbound elemental's to their fullest potential. I even struggle to make use of one most of the time. I just didn't notice any difference without it, and feel like the blood knight can win so many games at turn 3 vs zoo and paladin. Let me know your thoughts.

Hey man! I like your idea yes, its always nice to put in a tech card of yours into a pre-built deck to obtain good results versus different enviroments, your idea was ideal given the fact you were facing a lot of paladins and Zoos, good job! Keep up with the good work, who knows we could be seeing you in Legend next season!
Awesome. SO, one more question! I hit rank 7 tonight... I was doing really well until I faced like 10 hunters and it was 50/50 with your deck exactly. I'm just curious, what would you do if you were me? would you tech in some taunts, or just concede vs hunters and move on to the next game. I'm just trying to figure out if I'm playing the deck wrongly or just need to put in some other cards. Thanks a lot. Night!
So i am at rank 3 currently, playing your deck, and i am only having problems against mid-range hunters and i really want to hit legend before season end!
I have 90% winratio against any class except for hunter and rogue, but i meet allot of hunters so thats the main problem.
2 out of 5 matches are always hunters when i queue with my shaman, whenever i play another class they come 1 out of 10! my rng .
What cards would you suggest switching specifically against hunters? Right now i am trying 2x harvest golem instead of argent squire and also 1 lava burst instead of 1 flametongue, but its not enough
Ganja, I feel your pain dude... Granted, you are lower than me (Rank 7 atm) but I'm experiencing the same shit. I find that hunter is the hardest for me to beat. Even if we out play them, and gain control with only 3 minions, all It takes is one unleash the hounds combo with buzzard and wolf/companion to just swing the game in their favor. I think the harvest golems are good additions, but maybe we need to put in more taunts instead? I notice that my problem with hunter usually arises mid/late game, so putting in a sunwalker, or earth elemental might be enough to swing the tempo back in our favor and regain board control. Another option would be auto conceding against hunters and just moving on. Let me know what you're thinking.
Earth Elemental is very bad against hunters , because its 3 overload and because its dead the next turn due to hunters mark.Overall taunts are not a solution to hunters. Cairne is excellent against hunters but i dont have it!
I am currently experimenting with a few changes let me know what u think about it.
-2 Argent Squire for +2 Harvest Golem- 2 Flametongue Totem for Al'Akir and Lava Burst
Argent squire is excellent when combo'd with Argus but that's the only thing it shines in, flametongue and rockbiter might be ok temporary solutions but we want consistency so Harvest Golem is the way to go. Harvest Golem is excellent early game AND late game. Argent Squire is just another useless minion so the hunter can have more doggies
Flametongue is another useless minion where you need board presence for it to work ,and its usually used for removal. So this is an useless body on the board and its used for removal as long as you have a board! not good for hunters. So why not replace it with Lava Burst and Al Akir which are both excellent removals and also finishers.
Ok, I made some serious changes to my deck and I'm currently loving it. I can link you guys the deck list, but it's no longer a control oriented deck, but one that revolves around windfury/leroy/ancestral spirit with cairne and harvest golems to make our hunter match up better. I really love this deck. I mean, I win games I should NOT win. For example, I just went against a priest who had 2 ragn on board with 2 inured blade masters and a full board. He was 30 life, I had 5 with nothing but totems. I hid my leroy behind a wall of totems, and rock biter X1 got him to almost no life. Next turn, Ala'kir for the win. I honestly think this deck is better against control matches while still being the same vs anything else.
Honestly, I don't know. I use ancestral on cairne, or Ala'kir because of their insane value and inability to be removed. Or, I use it to protect my fire ele or leroy so that they focus on using two or more removal spells. Honestly, I'm experimenting. I just got raped by a zoo because of bad draws, but I took out a harvest golem and put in a forked lightning. Also, I'm considering taking out the ancestral spirit and either putting back the second harvest or defender of argus. My reason for not adding a second unbound elemental is because you never really have the time to use two of them efficiently in this meta.... These games are so f'ing fast that I never get the value out of TWO, but definitely have snowballed the board with one. I guess it's just personal experience/preference. I'm desperately trying to make the ultimate deck. Another Idea was to throw in a second forked lightning for ancestral spirit, but I think that's way too much overload. I just hate hunters with a passion.. Let me know what you think!
SO.... I came up with another potentially awesome deck because I'm pretty awesome in rl. Let me know what you guys think, this could be potentially sick/garbage. Slight RNG, but think of the turn 6 alexstraza, turn 5 alakir, 1 mana leroy......., but also consider the earthshock pull with far sight that would blow huge donkey testicles. Anyway, I think farsight is pretty cool/fun spell that could snowball the game and very under rated.
Unbound Elemental is the most scary thing to see in the other side of the table @early turns, you'll either silence it or wste a hard removal to get rid of it as soon as possible before it snowballs. Which means its auto-included 2-of, even tho you might think its bad or weak, nobody would ever waste a hard removal turn 3~4 on a harvest golem or any other 3-drop for that matter. Different from all other non-class 3-drops in the game, its a real threat.
Yes I still stand by it. Its not just a "win-more" card, it gives you reach. I feel like the only card I would swap bloodlust for is Al'Akir, but I personally dont like him. Also this deck is very strong versus midrange hunter.
maybe wrong mulligans

Deck is destroying. atm i'm rank 3 from 7.

Too much RNG involved imo in a game that is all about RNG, and btw Unbound Elemental is amazing, even without it getting buffed

Oh and by the way, this list is still very strong in the meta, I am using this and my druid to rank up.

Hey tempting to put in an ooze because im facing allot of rogues/warrs/paladins this season, what should i sub out for it?
The card that makes you say "oh no this card again" most of the time when you draw it :P
My comments refer mostly to the wild format.
How does this deck fair without an Ooze and Earthen?
