I love the Clockwork Giant. Not that I'm believing that they are viable, but since the meta is actually made of a lot of control decks (which tend to hold quite a few cards in hand over the course of the early/mid-game), they may be a tech choice that is kind of debatable but I see the point here.
The list is however pretty standard. Lifecoach probably bringed this to a competitive tournament where he expected a lot of Handlock (a matchup he knows well). Double BGH + Double Clockwork Giant seems to a way to counter this on the Legend outpost, where I saw a vast amount of Handlock there.
No, I don't believe this deck would do good in a starting month where you can expect a lot of fast decks.
But at a higher elo and under a specific meta (where you see control enough)... this deck can actually outshine them with their solid mid-game, some ways to deal with pesky creatures thanks to Hex and a good amount of board/face damage...
The lack of early tends to be compensate by the Mid-Range heavy focus that Lifecoach made. And some late-game as well.

How viable do you think his deck is for ladder play?
