Hear me out first. Shamans has become the mix and match class in HS. Aggro, Tempo, Control, he does it all bcuz he can and has the tools. Totem Synergy, Elemental and Murloc. Windfury, Weapon, Overload, Battlecry, Transform or even that one Mech.
Why did Murloc even became Shaman's specific (shared w Paladin) unit type? Bcuz of Morgl? With their aggresive playstle and rush, windfury or old man charge and board buff, it seems they would be better in Warrior. WOWTCG has 3 classes of Murloc heroes:Shaman, Warrior and Hunter. Hunter has his hands full w Beast and stuff so Warrior could use this unit of onslaught...
tldr: Murloc should have been w Warrior instead of SHaman, THEREFORE letting totems be their aggro, and/or tempo along with elementals and spell damage as control/combo.

If murlocs wasnt a thing, Devs would have focused more on making Totems stronger, improving their HP, focusing more on elementals or giving more love to windfury and/or overload mechanics. Shaman only has 2 draws for Murlocs , the new caravan and ice fishing (wild). So for a card draw less class to have this unit type seems irrelevant or redundant. Hypothetically IF shaman didnt had murlocs, the world would have been a better place.
tldr: I love murlocs but it only made shamans worse in theory.

But I agree in the total idea. Shaman has to much niche themes which thins their actual potential in a synnergenic deck. Spell, Elemental, Murloc synnergy in one expansion is just retarded, no class can make 3 themes work.
Has been my biggest gripe outside of no card draw. Too much of niche class, and Blizzard never focus on a singular niche each expansion it seems. Murlocs in general never were a tribe with a ton of value. You would think Neptulon would be a core card at this point if you're going to push murlocs this hard.
Id actually argue that murlocs make the most sense in PRIESTS of all classes. Half of the murlocs in WoW are "oracles" that cast holy smite on you. That and warriors who literally use warrior skills on you
ns are usually portrayed as predominantly tribal magic users and those races that are tribal (Murlocs, Taurens etc) tend to feature shamen rather than mages / priests. Murlocs are tribal, therefore...
They just need to change the caravan so you draw a murloc at the end of your turn because chances are it won't last until the start of your turn so no value will be gained from it.
Murlocs should be mostly 90% neutral with 10% specific related cards in the classes that represents them lorewise. A swarm type archetype for a class with no draw, useless HP, is a burden. Sometimes i believe paladin has better usage for murloc archetypes with a weapon that draws and a murloc HP.
Murlocs has 7 classes in the TCG and in the game, nightcrawler are rogues, shadowcasters are priest, tidehunters are well...... hunters., and tiderunners are warrios.... If murlocs are evenly distributed between 8 out of 10 classes, which means all classes has access to a standarized aggro swarm achetype, balancing will be easier, and actually unburdens Shaman...
tldr: Murlocs for everyone!!!

I would say they have been given to Shaman because a lot of Murlocs in the WoW games cast lightning bolts.
Yeah, I also think of it as lorewise. Murlocs always had shamans in their tribes. But murlocs do not fit paladin lorewise, so that puzzles me.
Cho me what you've learned

Agree, but they also had warriors and hunters too...

It could as easily became a thing for warriors.

I would also like to see a Murloc Mage who casts frost spells :)

Even less are they paladins if you ask me...
I hate murlocs because they pollute a shaman card pool that could be about elementals
YES!!! give the murlocs to some other class!!!
Or put the murlocs back in neutral where they came from. They suck anyways.

The main problem of Shaman is lack of synergy.
Shaman has elemental, murloc, overload, totem, evolution, spell specd but none of them has syneryg between each other.
