reason why shaman is a combo class by design, there is an argument for tempo aswell I agree but the tempo is based around combo's, anyways nothing is black and white, other than my opinions ofc
shaman is a class based around explosive power turns, these turns are often set up over time with cards such as Far Sight more than that, the cards in question are often worth very little without each other to activates their full power, think mechanic cards and the target cards primarily in these sets... don't agree and think it is tempo? sure buddy, when was the last time you saw a Desert Hare in any other tempo deck? or Derailed Coaster for that matter. when was the last time you even saw a revole shaman (/spit) attack with Boggspine Knuckles without minions on the board (if not in dire need or close to lethal ofc)
what I think confuses people is that revole shaman (/spit) is half tempo / half combo (imo) and that is what makes it so deadly. Cards like Inara StormcrashStormstrikeLightning Bloom are examples of what I would call tempo cards
this is as close as you guys will get me to write a wall of text so I hope you guys are happy with it
It's a big tempo / swing turn play, it's not a combo. That's like saying that paladin decks with level up and silver hand generation are combo decks. If I had to peg a deck that is closer to combo that revolves around tokens it would be druids dropping tokens and giving soul of the forest to set up assured lethal (which doesn't always work if there's a double clear, mass silence etc). Obviously shaman can lethal you next turn with their board but there is still possible counterplay.
I am not familiar enough with the paladin class (I find it very boring) but the dude mechanics is combo, in the same sense that trent and totems are combo... (worst type of combo)
Actually, interestingly enough... there is actually the Corrupted Combo deck in Shaman now that hasn’t been mentioned. Guess that kind of proves me wrong. But in that case OP should stop whining because he has the combo deck he so desires. 😂
Ironically I dont know why this one also didnt come to mind since it is literally the one Shaman deck I am actively playing at the moment and it is stupidly powerful. (I love it) - I refuse to play Evolve Shaman on principle, because it just feels like cheating, lol.
On the subject of what constitutes a "Combo" deck, there is a misconception that it somehow has to involve the ability to deal at least "X" amount of damage and/or one-shot kill the opponent. Neither of these are true requirements of a combo deck. (I've seen a huge discussion on this previously in fact).
A true combo deck takes a number of key cards that work together in such a way (that cannot be achieved by them individually) to pull off something more powerful than the sum of their parts. This is why most (if not all) the decks I listed are classified as combo decks. Some could technically be cross-classed as Control as well - as it's worth mentioning that the two deck types are not exclusive.
Lastly, Mogu Shaman attempts to make this card work. (And it is only a meme / barely Tier 3 I think):

I dunno, sounds like synergy to me. Like if I drop a bunch of one drops and play bloodlust, is that a combo?

Combo Decks are Mecha'Thun, Malygos and so on, where a combination of cards OTK's your opponent
evolve shaman is a viable deck not all the decks supposed to be tier 1 and win every game I think this is what wrong with this community seriously they nerfed bottom tier 2 mage deck because of the complaints.
