Been playing ladder all day since the set came out. From diamond 10 to diamond 4....i have not encountered a single Shaman. I think that says alot about how bad it truly is. Maybe people are afraid to experiment with it. Maybe it will get some love after the DH nerfs that are surely coming soon.
I've been having some success against Demon Hunter with my Evolve Shaman. It's only at Platinum 6/Platinum 5 rank and I haven't played too many games, but Shaman seems playable.
I’ve been playing some galakrond control shaman, and it’s been pretty fun. Mainly because I’m F2P and I packed The Lurker Below in my 11 packs.
Not viable, but pretty fun and strong against hyper aggro DH, where control tools can help to outlast their burst capacity. I’ve hovered around diamond 10-8, not many games. I think the evolve package is pretty interesting though.
I slapped together a control deck and it's held its own at the middle ranks at the very least. There are some really nice individual cards in this set, but there's not really a win condition other than outlasting aggro.
The Lurker Below is pretty legit, and I've found that Serpentshrine Portal tends to line up pretty nicely. Shattered Rumbler tends to be a little bit awkward based on the board states you're usually seeing at that point, but the pure numbers on it are solid and I think there's potential there. It's something to build on for future expansions, at the very least.
It's waaaay too early to tell. But, if you'd like an early analysis, Shaman is far stronger than anybody would have predicted. I'm having a blast and winning. Serpentshrine Portaland Torrent are nuts. I have beaten just about every Demon Hunter with Shaman because of how quickly I can refill my hand with cards like Marshspawn and Cobalt Spellkin.
Control spell with or without Galkrond package is okeish. Not great but you can win some matches.
I haven't tried evolve. Can you share a good evolve deck maybe?
I've not played through the past 3 sets, so |i can't make a deck for you unfortunately. shaman was my bag last I played, but the last decks I made were for an expac over a year ago.
I'm most likely just going to wait a few weeks before making a deck.
I was into shaman when I was last playing, they even had some pretty strong decks. seems like we got the shitty end this time? ha ha.
been on a hiatus for a while. am I best off playing another class for a while?
Impossible to say which class is good at the moment because DH wrecks everything and the meta is totally biased

Shaman is shocking right now. If they fix the DH problem then yeah may be ok.

Plot Twist lock is pretty good against DH to be fair.
yeah sorry guys. I had not realised a new expac just dropped.
my bad, ha ha.
EDIT: I don't have any of the new cards yet really. I got the mage deck for free as I got those highlander cards with it.
I have loads of wild stuff to dust though, so can pretty much build whatever I want (well within reason. can probs build a couple of decks)
I will probs just wait it out a few days and see what happens, as I don't wanna go sinking dust into stuff that can became obsolete with nerfs.
I do not think I will have anything particularly playable without some investment in newer cards though, so a catch 22.

Ok I have experimented a bit with available decks. It seems we have a few options:
Galakrond control
Galakrond evolve (also on HSreplay)
and aggro totem does pretty OK too but you need to learn how to use it
i faced one shaman as a priest, he evolved his whole board turn 4 or 5 into big minions with this new epic weapon, that was insane.
I had luck with shadow word ruin draw, but otherwise, i was super dead.
Evo Aggro Shaman with Bloodlust and Doomhammer might become a thing, reminds me of the old days.
Control Shaman ? Neah, let's burrow that Dream..
I reached legend on wild yesterday with shaman, so I don't know what you're talking about.
"wild"
OK.
we are talking about standard maybe?
I haven't seen any particularly good Aggro and/or evolve shamans yet, but I still have some hope.
Otherwise, it seems like Shaman is relying heavily on Highlander, but it's a worse Highlander deck than most others.
kinda and i felt sorry to those who cant use their lady vash hero
