Sigh, it's really painful how not viable C-Sham is right now. It really makes me wish this game managed itself like LoL and took into account the archetypes people want to play and adjusted yhe meta every two weeks so at leasts there is *some* opening for fans of certain decks to be able to play them. As it is now, it's "face and play these decks if you want to win for 4 months (unless the cry out is so bad and a nerf occurs)".
The Awakening minixpac is promising going into the future. However it was far too conservative with its Shaman cards. As a dreamer, I hope it is going to become the standard to EVERY expansion: a chance to slide in tools some decks need to compete. Unfortunately, the 10 mana shizbang and the legendary weapon do very little to assist an already dismal winrate. Fist could have been 3 mana with 1 less durability taking into account how Zephrys hard counters it. The ten mana spell is cool but has no home when you cannot get to a point to play it when you have less than 10 life.
C-Sham is decent but relies on total luck of having the tools that will line up to the busted crap your opponent is bound to be playing so you can stabilize to the late game. It just doesn't work sadly. If you know of a deck that is doing well please post it because I cannot come up with one that reliably wins 50% : (
I totally agree with you, since Hagatha came out in Witchwood I was hoping Control Shaman could be viable but until now it hasn't happened and in April most cards rotate out so I don't know if it will ever be good. I tried some highlander versions and they are fun for sure but they are not great when it comes to winrate but sadly it's all we have.
It’s because there isn’t a solid support for an archetype with shaman. There are middling support for glakrond, dragon, elementals and murloc, mostly because they have been nerfed to obscurity.
I used to play a lot of control shaman, but after rotation for year of the raven, quite a few good elementals, board clears and healing left and weren’t replaced with something that could fill in. RIP 0 cost snowfury giant followed by greater sapphire spellstone.
Maybe this couldn't help you at all, but the only way to play Shaman right now is doing it in Wild format. There you could just grab all the Tunnel Trogg and Totem Golem cards to make everybody mad until rank 10 at least. I do play a lot of Big Shaman as well, in step with Concede Shaman; obviously, these are pretty much meme decks but I can get to rank 10 with not much problem.
(I'm really curious about why you write it C-sham lol)
yea its frustrating, you have so many answers and yet any luckor like rogue or Hunter or Treantdruid beats you easily while you have those 30min games to come back :/
LOL my last match vs treant druid. I had legendary weapon and literally vomited all my highest cost spells against him, earthquake, the 10 mana taunts, frogs, you name it.
He removed all my threats with his stupid tokens and infinite buffs and he still managed to build a whole buffed up army on board after I ran out of answers.
Now if I stil llose despite the fact that I managed to play all my best combos, you tell me what game this is
What you think about the new cards coming out? So far they not really fitting into C-Shaman if you ask me. Zephrys is just way too strong so it needs to be a Highlander deck.
Replacing a Shudderwok is impossible and Hagatha is also difficult. I will try Quest to benefit from double battlecries in late game.
Eventhou it weakens early game, but so far thats the only way to go. All shamans I faced so far Ranks 5 and up are Aggro (either murloc or plain Quest/Gala)
Major problem is still Hunter putting out easily 30 Dmg by turn 7 while controling the board is just insane and the reason why its played so often.
Priest should be the easiest once you draw into Frog/Murloc plague.
**Any card suggestions to fight hunters or rogues? I ve tried a lot 4 Mana taunts, Witches brew of course, Boompistol Bully? All not working. The necessary shaman spells are all too late like Earthquake. Once you survive till late game you have fair chances of coming back and wining but Im usually down to 10 HP and any misplay is GG :(
# 1x (1) Earth Shock (would include after rotation for now no real target, better use Hex) # 1x (2) Sandstorm Elemental # 1x (2) Witch's Brew # 1x (2) Zephrys the Great # 1x (3) Electra Stormsurge (dead combo card, we cant afford to wait, we need answers now) # 1x (3) Far Sight # 1x (3) Haunting Visions (so so card, hardly gave me what I want and use on turn 3-4) # 1x (3) Lightning Storm # 1x (3) Mind Control Tech # 1x (3) Plague of Murlocs # 1x (4) Bone Wraith # 1x (4) Hex # 1x (4) Hoard Pillager (waste card we dont need a win more card) # 1x (4) Storm Chaser # 1x (4) The Fist of Ra-den (can't affort to play a useless weapon on 4 and hope for the boardclear spell on turn 5? No rather get something more consistent, something you can always play on 4 or 5 like charge/heal/taunt minions) # 1x (5) Bandersmosh # 1x (5) Boompistol Bully # 1x (5) Dragon's Pack (hardly usable if drawn early and everybody can pierce through 2x5 hp taunts, plus not needed if you leave the weapon out) # 1x (5) Hagatha's Scheme # 1x (5) Zilliax # 2x (6) Corrupt Elementalist # 1x (6) Kronx Dragonhoof # 1x (7) Earthquake # 1x (7) Galakrond, the Tempest # 1x (7) Siamat # 1x (8) Hagatha the Witch # 1x (8) Walking Fountain # 1x (9) Dragonqueen Alexstrasza # 1x (9) Shudderwock #
I wrote my comments on the cards I replaced above. So far Im having much more success using Lackeys or Lackey generators (1 Mana Slurper or Totem or BogSlosher to return my Zephrys) Also tech against certain classes, a Black Knight is great against Embigg Druid or Rogue)
Honestly highlander shaman just doesn't fly. If you want to play control go spell and fatigue, maybe with C'Thun. At least it got me to D3. After that it was impossible to advance any further.

Control shaman is going to be very strong in AOO... jaja sorry, bad joke
People get ready. Next expansion is going to be even worse than this one for shaman. RIP
Control anything sucks. I feel like the idea that control beats aggro laughable at the moment. At best it's a fair match up.
