Played a shammy murloc deck yesterday. Well shaman murloc was a hit or a miss, but Neptulon was always useful. Provides a nice tempo swing and puts down a solid 7/7 body. Just pray there are no force tank maxs around. Or bgh.

I have yet to use Neptulon, so (if I ever do) perhaps I'll eventually change my mind. However... When you review the card, I don't see how you can think Neptulon's good. He's a 7 Attack, 7 Health minion for 7 Mana (War Golem) that is instantly copied with Faceless Manipulator and/or simply killed with Big Game Hunter.
Sure! You get 4 cards in hand from him, but they're random and they're Murlocs... The fact that people seem to think that any card (regarding card advantage), regardless of what it is/does, is a good thing, boggles my mind. Murlocs require synergy, planned synergy is preferential, in order to be an actual threat, so the fact that the Murlocs you get from Neptulon are random further makes this card bad in my eyes.
Additionally... Neptulon has Overload(3). I would like people to note that this does NOT make the minion "10 Mana for a 7/7 and 4 cards", like so many seem to think; it's 7 Mana and Overload(3) for "a 7/7 and 4 cards" meaning that you lock yourself out of 3 Mana for the subsequent turn. Meaning, if you play him on turn 7, you only have 5 Mana with which to reply to your opponent's reply to you playing Neptulon, which likely won't be enough. This also prevents you from playing cards such as: Ragnaros the Firelord, Al'Akir the Windlord, The Black Knight, etc...
However... One thing I will say (positively) about Neptulon, is that if he's not dealt with, him and his band of merry Murloc henchmen can cause some serious trouble for your opponent(s). Additionally. If the card pool for the Murlocs that Neptulon draws from is limited like Bane of Doom is (if I'm remembering correctly), Neptulon's validity increases significantly. Because this means that the randomness isn't so random and the Murloc synergy can flow, allowing for a lot of fun to be had.
In conclusion... Shaman needed and still needs reliable card draw in order to deal with what's currently going on a little better and I just don't think that Neptulon's it. But, if you enjoy Murlocs, have at it! :)
This dude is amazing. I mean the only murloc I never wanna see is the coldlight oracle, every other murloc just does serious work. Granted I'm not at rank 10 yet, but so far he's yet to disappoint me.
UglyBastard said it best. I used to think of Neptulon as a joke card from Blizzard until I got him from 3 free packs and played him. I think Neptulon fits well with control-shaman (not just murloc decks), less burst but more solid minions.
Most of the times the murlocs synergize really well, chargers can be used as finishers/removals, Warleaders and health buff murlocs give u a solid board next turn, the new epic murloc can sometimes draw a few cards and Coldlight can give your opponent fatigue (a bit far-fetch though in control matchups, other classes tend to draw more cards than shamans), the rest can be tokens for flametongue. And I think Neptulon right now is a bit of a wild card that most ppl don't expect it and hardly save any removal for it.
I also run Rag instead of Alakir so Neptulon can be fodder for Rag. Currently at rank 7 EU, hardest matchups are probably Hunters (sometimes just die too quick) and Handlock (draw no answer for his threats or not enough burst dmg to finish the game).
yeah, neptulon is easily one of the better cards from this set. the overload is really high, and that is pretty bad. but even still, the murlocs cost are cheap. I think people severely underestimated this card. I got him and Bolvar as my first legendaries, and was actually pretty pleased in the long run with both. paladin is in a very nice place right now, and shaman received some great cards (crackle, mace, nep)

Neptulon alone gives you around 20 mana to spend [7 + 3 + (4 x murlocs)] which makes him amazing in a low costed deck like mine.
Do not forget that the 4 murlocs you get help you in winning fatigue wars, as you're effectively playing with 34 cards worth of stuff.
I'm actually considering Gazlowe while running the full set of 1 mana removals to get additional "card draw" without pulling from my deck. Now if it's worth running a few mechs to get spare parts too, i don't know.

Had lethal because I got 2 coldlight oracles.
Lol, how so? Fatigue lethal? Or drew into lethal because of them?
It was a really close game against a secret paladin, but the first oracle put him into fatigue. I actually missed lethal the next turn because I opened turn with storm with a lava burst in hand, but playing the second oracles did fatigue damage and then after his draw step he was at 5 hp. It was a very grueling game where he had 2 ragnaroses for 3 turns before I finally cleared them. Would've won at 1 hp had I seen it sooner.
I said that just after the cards were revealed so I never had any real experience with either of them and that was my first reaction. After the cards being actually released and played/playing against them my opinions have changed on both of them. I don't think that a first reaction to a card that was not even available for play yet that ended up being wrong upon release makes my opinions on cards invalid, if you read my full post a day or two after GvGs release I wrote an update saying that I was wrong on the cards so I knew that there was probably going to be a change in my opinions once the cards were available for play.

If you had no experience with them, why would you post a thread like this. Maybe if you always are right about the playablity of cards it would be a good idea. But posting a thread with this title and then changing your opinion makes you look ignorant. As well as comparing Neptulon to Malorne and saying Malorne is a good card.

Not really. You make it sound like changing your mind is a bad thing. While he may have been premature in his judgement, it sparked debate which is intended to bring people from one mindset to another. And, knowing what we do of the card, we can look back and at initial reactions and learn from them. You don't have to be some amazing meta predicting genius to have an opinion and then change your mind, and by doing so a person shouldn't be shunned as ignorant. Yes he was without knowledge, but he gained knowledge and is no longer ignorant. If we had your way nobody would every do anything that helps them grow.

I do agree with you, but that is not the point if someone names a thread so harshly "I hope Neptulon is a joke or something." and then says it is bad and says bad cards are good, with out even playing with them it is just dumb. I do like debates, but people also just read these forums and if they read about how a good card is bad they will think it is bad.
by the way I made this thread before Neptulon was even officially released by Blizzard and was just leaked on this site, the title saying I hope it is a joke is because the card was not even official so who knows it could have been a joke or the actual one could have been different from what I had seen leaked. Also my post has an edit saying that I had changed my opinion on the card so those who do read it shouldn't get the concept that it is bad anymore because if they read the whole thing it says otherwise. I didn't even expect this thread to get so large either it seems the things you do quickly without thinking much of get more publicity then a well thought out thread.

The irony is that your rank is BGH.
The I must not be meant to play that deck, unless my forum rank increases >_>
got him in a pack... 400 dust amiright?
For no-murlock Shaman deck Dr. Boom > Neptulon...
