So lately I have been playing a lot of Even Shaman. Disclaimer: I'm not playing it at high ranks/legend, but between ranks 10-5. I have had a number of good win streaks with it.
According to HSReplay, it's a T1 deck, with a w/r of 55.7%. According to VS Report #102, it's either a T1 or T2 deck (depending on Rank). It has + match ups against popular meta decks like Cube Hunter, Burn Mage, Combo Druid, and Zoolock. But also according to VS, it has one of the lowest frequency scores in the metagame right now.
It differs from the Standard deck list in that it omits Knife Juggler in favor of Ghost Light Angler. I feel like if you are running Arcane Dynamo, which is only good with wide boards, then you should play the cards that give you wide boards. And since I feel like Arcane Dynamo and Hagatha are the reasons you can beat control, then you should run Ghost Light because it synergizes with both of them. Plus, Juggler has often felt like the weakest card in the deck to me.
Unfortunately, I mostly play via mobile, so I don't have replays or stats to share. But I have won multiple games against Control Warrior, Control Warlock, Big Spell Mage, and Mind Blast Priest, even after those decks stabilized because of Ghost Light + Dynamo.
Why isn't anyone playing this deck? It has all of the powerful options for tech (Swamp Ooze, Zap!, Spell Breaker, Beakered Lightning Geist, Mossy, etc.) , and I think you can beat grindy games through the combination of Hagatha and Dynamo.
I can't say why others are not playing it, but I can say why I'm not playing it. I played even shaman and found it to be on the weaker side. I think the good winrate on hsreplay is probably boosted by the fact that the bad players who copy all of the top netdecks are playing something else. I was still able to achieve a positive winrate with it, but the winrate was much lower than what I was seeing with other tier 2 decks (I generally play mostly tier 2 decks because I hate playing mirror matches all day).
Nice, i`m defenetily gonna give this list a try, cause i always like Even Shaman - and it is still strong!!
Is Kalimos needed ? he's the only card i don't have - any replacements?
Thanks! Much appreciated. I also want to add how fun the deck is, with the handful of random effects - most games feel different.
Kalimos is not necessary, but you won't really find a comparable card.
You could replace him with a tech card or another late game type card. Some people have toyed with Runespear. Al'Akir is a very popular choice. Argent Commander saw play in the past. Bonemare seems like it would work.
I wish I could try this deck but I'm missing Genn and double Sea Giants. Not looking for replacements, but once I can get these cards, I will for sure craft this deck.
It is weaker than Odd Rogue, which is very prevalent in the meta now. It's hard to get any of your totems or poorly-statted minions to stick vs Valeera's 2-Attack weapon and Fire Flies/Dire Moles/Argent Squires.

Yeh - the HSReplay stats are definitely inflated, which is why I also made sure to add the VS stats.
I do think Even Shaman feels weaker than it is because it doesn't have any blowout match ups - just a lot of decent ones. And I do think that Ghost Light tech should increase winrates for the reasons in my OP.
I have the same feeling with Even Shaman, every matchups seems winnable if you know how to play against them, even if the opponent is playing control or aggro.
Still, it hurt me everytime I see a list with Arcane Dynamo since it's always the weakest card on the deck and 6 mana 3/4 is huge tempo loss everytime. Card like Mossy Horror is a better tech in this meta due to Giggling Inventor running everywhere
Come to wild, it's one of if not The tier 1 aggro deck there at the moment :p

I've seen a lot of even shamans running around with a Corpsetaker list, using Al'Akir to go and power it up. That being said, I don't think it sees a lot of play despite being really good just because it's expensive and you can get better results by just using any odd rogue list or odd paladin list.

I don't have something witty about this deck, I just like it because Malygos is fun.
Used Even Shaman myself til rank 5 so far, and it was one of the smoothest climbs I have had so far. Agreed that Hagatha is one of the worse cards if included - still dont think Arcane Dynamo is an auto include, maybe as a one off. Only matchup where Stormbringer truly shines is druid. Bloodlust can be useful, but since you cant play the spell the turn you play Stormbringer, I dont really think its worth it.
In general I find Even Shaman to have really good matchups, as long as Hunter, Odd Rogue and Zoo stay popular. The only decks that are hugely favoured against us are Odd Warrior and Big Spell mage.
I think Hagatha is a better inclusion over Arcane Dynamo.
Hagatha by herself turns the Warrior matchup from an terrible to even or even favored, depending on the list. Arcane Dynamo doesn't swing any matchup in the same way. that alone warrants an inclusion.
I've actually switched away from the Even Shaman to the Midrange Shaman because I think it gives you better game overall while providing a similar playstyle. Being able to Have multiple Corpsetaker Shudderwocks is crazy good.
I've been using it at rank 5, got me to rank 2, dropped to rank 3 last two games. I have been trying other decks when I get to a new rank and they're the more successful deck at that rank, but usually I take losses and drop a rank, so I switch back to even shaman. It's remarkably consistent. I don't find odd rogue is necessarily the worst match up, Druid is far more problematic. Or even warlock, which is a nightmare.
I don't know about standard, but in wild so far I'm 30W - 2L with even jade elemental shaman. Super solid deck, with crazy board presence
The power level of the deck in wild is INSANE. Just went from rank 10 to 3 in a few hours. Added some tech cards like Windfury to agressively kill big priest and druid decks and it worked flawlessly. I even beat a reno warlock deck in the late game because of Hagatha and big jades.
It's a great deck to play though - probably one of the most fun working with positioning and on board tactics, having early drops, but also running bigger threats, elemental synergy, some tempo tools like earthen might and the direct damage dealers, hagatha for late game value, etc. Far more fun than odd rogue or pally. I don't run dynamos, I think if your board sticks then you are probably winning anyway. I get the knockout punch with bloodlust is good against something like priest but the tempo loss and losing an activator for corpse taker just seems problematic for me and I win less with it.
If a deck generally plays out the same way, it eventually drops in winrate, even if it's strong, because people get sick of playing it. Pirate Warrior suffered the same fate

This seems wrong, right?
For what it's worth, this is what I'm playing.
