Alright this is gonna be a of a niche little rant but quite frankly it's something that supremely bothers me of just how inconsistent rules with overload are. FYI Shaman is one of the classes I enjoy the most which is why I bothered on this. So i'm just gonna go over the one little issue that has caused me to look over this Electra Stormsurge. She has this neat little thing of you can only have a negative spell interaction considering she will still overload you extra if she cast the spell Ex: Lightning Storm it will overload you for 4. However if you have Omega Mind or Hallazeal the Ascended active only the spell YOU cast will heal you which proves for a very annoying interaction. Which is since she cast it she won't give you the benefits since it says YOUR spells but directly stated on how overload works "Overload is only charged when the card with Overload is successfully played from the hand." (taken from the wiki) Since it is played by the minion (or a similar case with The Runespear as it is casting the spell you just get to choose what) it shouldn't overload you since it isn't from your hand yet it does essentially being Blizzard only allows us to get a negative interaction with an already pretty bad mechanic, though I do understand it's purpose of playing cards more powerful than the mana cost you're playing it for so you have to deal with it next turn and considering there are only 2 cards in the game that remove overload and both of which are in wild I really think Blizzard should do something with this and go either one way or the other with cards that cast spells for you and overload considering it pushes in 2 polarized directions of they don't give you effects that would have triggered if you cast the spell or they still give you the effects anyway. I would like to know how you guys feel on if they should go back to the way it was of no overload and no benefits either (which ultimately would be better since it would only require an update to shaman) or keep the overload but it also gives you the bonus from say Omega Mind or Violet Teacher. (Also another inconsistency is if you play a card that destroys mana crystals you keep the overload even though visually it seems that the mana itself is overloaded and it isn't a separate counter)
I agree. The standard was set when they decided that Yogg should go from not overloading, to indeed overloading, in a Nerf. Proves that they balance takes priority over uniformity
If it has the downsides like overloading, it should also balance with the upsides eg. Double healing from Halazeel and double spellstone activation (wich I think also has inconsistencies).
I fear for more inconsistencies with the new champion, but damn is he gonna be fun
Indeed, it better not be what kripp said in that say you use lightning bolt on 1 minion it overloads you for 3 because that would be bullshit considering it's not being cast anymore times, it should just be cast once and have an added targeting but most likely they'll make it that way but still ultimately we'll use him
Whenever a card says "you cast" or "your spells" it only counts spells being cast from the hand. Overload is just part of the directions on the card, therefore whenever it is cast by you or any minion like Grand Archivist, Electra Stormsurge, and Zentimo, the Overload should apply.
