With the new tools Shaman is getting, it seems control or combo oriented Shaman decks have become more viable? How would Overload Shaman do against Shudderwock Shaman given that the new tools allow it to complete its combo early?
The next interesting addition is Omega Mind, which could make this deck even more resilient against aggro and mid-range builds. The card synergizes with Electra Stormsurge too.
Finally, to increase the odds of drawing the spellstones, we have Storm Chaser.
These additions will make Overload Shaman a lot more viable in the upcoming expansion.
An interesting variant could involve using Thunderhead in place of Omega Mind to take advantage of the overload synergies while adding some defense against aggro decks.
Yes, you can see it in Kripp's reveal of Omega mind when he use Electra to double volcano. Two more overload locks are added when the second volcano starts.
The only weakness I see here is it's gonna get malygoose'd. Dunno if there will be any other OTK decks in Standard but that for sure will be one so long as Maly is still in the format haha. THE GOOSE IS STILL LOOSE
Just a note, spirit echo does not stack. Since the text is "Deathrattle: Return THIS minion to your hand", hitting it with electra wouldn't give you two minions, it would just add the one on the board back to your hand
storm caser is a huge buff for overload shaman and thus it will at least be tried by a lot of shaman players.
The deck is slow and can be overrun as well as loose to OTK. The new cards make it more consistent but they won´t save from being killed at T5 or 6. I mained overload shman successfully last season and omega mind seems weak. If you need healing you usually need it way before T10. Also spirit echo is too passive. It just lost me games wating for combo i removed it quite fast...
Also the deck looses to priest and if priest makes it T1 this one will suffer greatly.
I'm not sure about the viability of Storm Chaser. A tutor for e.g. Volcano seems useful if you're up vs. Aggro but the minions stats are still below the curve (I still miss Jinyu Waterspeaker). Here's my current take on Crusher Shaman:
### Snowy Mountain # Class: Shaman # Format: Standard # Year of the Raven # # 2x (1) Lightning Bolt # 2x (2) Ancestral Spirit # 1x (2) Bloodmage Thalnos # 2x (2) Crushing Hand # 2x (2) Loot Hoarder # 2x (3) Acolyte of Pain # 2x (3) Far Sight # 2x (3) Feral Spirit # 2x (3) Healing Rain # 2x (3) Lightning Storm # 2x (4) Hex # 1x (4) Sandbinder # 2x (5) Earth Elemental # 2x (5) Volcano # 2x (7) Lesser Sapphire Spellstone # 2x (11) Snowfury Giant # AAECAaoIAu0FnvACDu4B+wGUA/kD9QT+BbIG9Qj7DMfBAo3OArrSAsPSAvPnAgA= # # To use this deck, copy it to your clipboard and create a new deck in Hearthstone # Generated by HDT - https://hsdecktracker.net
I've dropped Mana Tide Totem as it turned out to be a liability (Combo decks are likely to ignore it or try to make you overdraw once it becomes clear you're not Shudderwock and vs. Aggro it does nothing). Since the deck is weak to early aggression I added Loot Hoarder and Acolyte of Pain to have some board presence. Far Sight was about to be dropped as well but I don't know what to use instead of it. Unbound Elemental is still as slow as it's been years ago so that's not an option, the same goes for Spirit Echo as well. Finally, Bloodmage Thalnos is a no-brainer considering all the damage spells.
From the new cards I think Electra Stormsurge is worth a try, even without Omega Mind (which I deem unnecessary as a match vs. Aggro has already been decided on turn 10+ and vs. Combo you're going to die anyway regardless of such clunky heals).
Volcano is not only against aggro and even if, geting it out of the deck is valid. Worst case you shoot it into your acolyte and get two OL ....
I used an odd version that is fun but in a normal version Storm Caser is a top pick. Takin out mana tide is good i also did it. The acolytes are the powerdrawers and far sight is great in this deck. Bloodmage fits perfect. Loot hoarders are more if you have space but then they are perfect.
Ancestral spirit is good but i bareley needed it so maybe two are to much. On the other side they can be used on anything so as long as you are not silenced ... I expect loads of silence in upcoming decks. Reason is there will be mechs and there will be lot´s of powerful deathrattle decks. There is nearly no deck without some powercards to silence on the horizon.
Spirit Echo is a sitting duck waiting for combo ...
Unbound elemental did great in my deck but will be the first replaced with Boomsday cards.
I really hope so, I like the deck but I couldn't quite get mine to work. Shudderwock is unfortunately better as you don't still have to kill the opponent with the Giants (as well as not relying on combo order), it just starts dealing damage and life gaining from the get go, but cloning Giants with ancestral spirit is just so much more impressive looking.
Last season i had been more successful with my OL deck then Shudder. I used shudder two seasons before then changed. Shudder could only hold 50:50. Very ODD what i used but it worked quite amazing getting lots of WOW.
looks good. I would replace the lich king with a second hex ;-). I pesonally also won´t use two Ancestral Spirits and put in far sight.
The more i think how to do it the lower the cards from boomsday get. In OL shaman it`s the storm chasers and electra you want but noting more. So if i try to stick to my version only electra is left XD ... Stormbringer might be a meme. I already removed Thrall.
But bloodlust shamy might come back. So lets see if we can spark oponents dead...

Some notes on the deck: Electra Stormsurge is an all-purpose card that could double the effect of your AoE, healing, or even the cornerstone Lesser Sapphire Spellstone and Spirit Echo cards.
The next interesting addition is Omega Mind, which could make this deck even more resilient against aggro and mid-range builds. The card synergizes with Electra Stormsurge too.

Let's wait for some more cards, but yes, this will be nice, especially in wild where we can unlock the crystals.

Yes, the spell casts twice and so you would overload double.

Always Hunters. Always Huffers.

Why no unbound elemental? Could possibly snowball with this mana overloads (although a bit slow)
i use them in my current OL shaman and they gave me the edge over all other cards i tried instead of them ...

Thanks for the insights guys. Your inputs are valuable. Looking forward to Boomsday.
