Earth, Fire, Water, and Air. These are the elements that bind us, and what the Shaman master to both crush their enemies, and aid their allies. Through the summoning of totems, the Shaman balance the chaotic elements to deliver a diverse congregation of powerful spells to turn the tides of battle.

Thrall (birthname Go'el), son of Durotan, is the former Warchief of the restored shamanistic Horde, and founder of the red land of Durotar in Kalimdor. His parents killed by Gul'dan's assassins shortly after his birth the year the First War began,he was found and raised by Aedelas Blackmoore who gave Thrall his name. Raised as a slave and gladiator, he later joined Orgrim Doomhammer in freeing the orcs imprisoned after the Second War, being named Warchief after Doomhammer's death. After leading the Horde away from the Alliance-claimed Eastern Kingdoms, he rescued and made allies of the DarkspearTrolls and BloodhoofTauren. Thrall led the new Horde against their former demonic masters in the Battle of Mount Hyjal. He subsequently led diplomatic efforts at peace between the Horde and Alliance after the end of the Third War.
Shamans are mortal mediators between the very elements themselves. Spiritual leaders of their communities, these powerful practitioners commune with the ancestors and seek to balance the raging elemental forces, and can call upon them in battle to scorch and blast their enemies, or to strengthen and heal their allies. Shamans can enhance their weapons with elemental effects, smite enemies with lightning strikes and bursts of lava, and summon powerful elementals to do their bidding. Shamans can also grant themselves and their allies powerful elemental boons, and call upon the ancestors to assist them, transforming into a Ghost Wolf or using Reincarnation to return from the dead.
Crafted long ago under unknown circumstances on the orc homeworld of Draenor, the Doomhammer is a namesake relic passed down from father to son. It was given to Thrall as a testament of faith and honor during the salvation of the orcs. Although the hilt of the hammer has been replaced, the actual hammerhead itself has endured as a testament of the crafter's skill.
Al'Akir the Windlord was the Elemental Lord of air. He ruled over his domain of Skywall from his seat at the Throne of the Four Winds. He was once the foremost tactician in the Old Gods' horrific armies. Aligned with the corrupted Dragon AspectDeathwing and his fellow Elemental Lord Ragnaros in their efforts to usher in the end of days, Al'Akir was defeated by the mortal champions of Azeroth, who were able to enter Skywall from the breach in Uldum and destroy the Windlord within his own sanctum.
Earth Elementals are elemental creatures made of the rock, and energy of the earth itself. Their home/domain on the Elemental Plane is known as Deepholm and the leader of the earth elementals is Therazane. The Stone Lords rule Deepholm under Therazane. Each of their personalities seems to embody a different aspect of earth. Not all earth elementals are minions of the elemental lords and princes, some are minions of the elemental spirits of Outland.
Fire elementals are elemental creatures made of fire elements. The Fire elementals are led by Ragnaros in their home on the Elemental Plane known as The Firelands. While many fire elementals are controlled by the elemental lords, some are minions of the elemental spirits of Outland.
Al'Akir the Windlord - The ultimate finisher and a staple in most Shaman decks, Al'Akir combined with Rockbiter Weapon can deal 6 damage twice allowing you to clear the board, or deal the killing blow to your opponent.
Fire Elemental - Arguably the greatest 6 mana minion in the game. A 6/5 with a battlecry that can clear a 3 health minion is a huge tempo swing that can help regain precious board control.
Hex - One of the two straight up removal spells in the game alongside Polymorph. Hex zaps any threat into a Frog, making Shaman one of the strongest control Hero Classes.
Lightning Storm - A Shaman's best friend against aggro, this AOE spell by itself or combined with Spell Damage can easily wipe an entire board at the cost of Overload 2. Just remember to praise the RNG Gods before playing it because of the "deal 2-3 damage" RNG component.
Key Class Spells:
Bloodlust - A devastating finisher spell when you have board control, but can be used to clear if needed. Optimally used when you have 3 or more minions on board; any less and you're not getting enough value.
Feral Spirit - 3 mana for 2, 2/3 minions with Taunt is insane value, but it comes at a cost - Overload 2. This means that next turn you will have 2 less mana to work with. Luckily, Shamans have a lot of 1 mana spells so your turn 4 play won't be completely dead (remember, you can always use Totemic Call).
Lava Burst - Commonly used in burst Shaman decks, x2 Lava Burst is a 6 mana Pyroblast. Your opponent won't know what hit them. Also useful against Turn 4 Chillwind Yeti type minions as removal. Just remember there's Overload 2.
Lightning Bolt - Low cost, high impact. 3 damage for 1 mana is incredible value at the price of Overload 1 for next turn. Throw down an Unbound Elemental on the board beforehand, and you can easily seize back board control by removing a 3 health (or less) minion and putting a buffed 3/5 Unbound Elemental into play.
Rockbiter Weapon - Deceptively game changing. At it's core, this card is low mana removal or burst that can be played on your Hero or on a minion. Play one on your Hero while you have a Doomhammer equipped, and you have 10 damage. Play x2 Rockbiter Weapon on a Doomhammer and you've got 16 damage. x1 on Al'Akir the Windlord is 12 damage, while x2 is 18 damage. That's a lot of burst.
Flametongue Totem - Totem activator, and damage engine. This card's potential is endless. By placing Flametongue Totem next to your other totems, you can sacrifice them all into your opponent's board to clear their minions. Coupled with Al'Akir the Windlord you'll have 10 damage at your disposal. Throw in a Rockbiter Weapon or 2 on Al'Akir and the legend of your damage output will be sung by the bards of Azeroth for years and years to come.
Mana Tide Totem - A card drawing machine. If this minion stays on the board for multiple turns in a control matchup you can expect a victory in the near future. Card draw is huge, but at 0 attack it falls short against aggro. You'll need the help of Flametongue Totem or Defender of Argus to give this minion some teeth.
Unbound Elemental - Combined with the many Overload cards at the Shaman's disposal, this minion can get out of hand fast. Turn 2 The Coin, Unbound Elemental into Turn 3 Feral Spirit is one of the strongest plays in Hearthstone.
Argent Squire - Helpful against early Zoo pressure, and extreme value when coupled with Turn 2 Flametongue Totem to clear a 2 or 3 health minion for free because of Divine Shield.
Azure Drake - A staple in most Shaman decks because of limited turn 5 plays, the card draw and Spell Damage +1 is huge because of Shaman's plethora of spells.
Bloodmage Thalnos - Another staple. Since Shaman's don't have a ton of card draw, the Deathrattle helps you get deeper into your deck. 2 mana Spell Damage allows you to surprise your opponent with a 4 damage Lightning Bolt, 6 damage Lava Burst, and a game altering 3-4 damage Lightning Storm.
Defender of Argus - Totem enabler and invaluable defense against aggro decks. You'll almost always have minions on board to buff because of Totemic Call.
Wish they did this for some of the other classes, very nice
I believe some of the other "Class Mods" are currently working on their individual Class Info Threads also. Just have to wait till they finish and post in on their class forums. This kind of work takes a while to do, and set up properly. xD

Yes, our Class Mods are hard at work making their Class Stickies something to behold. I've had a look at them, and they're coming along quite nicely! Expect them to be published in the coming weeks.
Could you please explain what the differences between Control and Mid Range Shaman is. They all look way too similar to be be separated into 2 deck types.

Great question, solvikaaber. A Control Shaman's goal is to do just that, control the game. Midrange Shamans are typically more aggressive than a Control decklist. If you notice under the Midrange decklists, you'll see cards such as Spiteful Smith, Lava Burst, and Bloodlust. These cards turn a typical Control decklist, into a more flexible one that can be aggressive on a whim. "Midrange" is the middle-ground between Control and Aggro.

Just pointing out, "Tsafy's" decklist requires less dust than "Shamtrol", while only the second one is put under budget section.
Details aside, great article , hope other classes catch up to it.

Not devoted enough to spend money/lots of time , but still like being somewhat competitive
Peaked at rank 3 couple seasons ago, usually around ranks 10-5 at the end of seasons (unless it's been a busy month irl)
