Why is betrayal considered a bad card by many. It's fairly cheap so removing even one minion is good enough and has great synergy with shadow reflection to potentially deal with a big board. Is it because there just isn't any good control rogues around?
Mainly just due to the fact that it is 1-2 card slots of your 30 card deck and there are always better options. It's not the most awful card in hearthstone, but shiv, evis, and sap are all better and those don't even always get included.

Well I brought up this card because this is like the only semi-aoe removal rogue has lol. The cards you mentioned are all good single target removals/stallers but rogue already has a bajillion of great single target removals. Imo, this card could justifiably be included in rogue decks over the cards you mentioned just for the fact that they have no good way to deal with wide boards. Another bonus is this is like the only way rogue can almost cleanly deal with the popular emerald spellstones atm (except when it summons 4 wolves lol).
betrayal is a dead card against one minion and against a wider board an experienced player can place their minions to minimize betrayal's effectiveness thus all other alternatives that are either always live against one minion and immune to minion placement are strictly better.
I m impressed that after so many changes to make the game more straightforward to the new players, this card has not been changed yet. Similar wording to Shadowflame but spell dmg does not affect this card.

The wording is not similar. Betrayal is not affected by spell damage since the minion is dealing damage, not the spell as with shadowflame.
I use Betrayal fairly often and it is indeed a decent card. It's main problem is that when playing rogue you don't normally like to leave anything on your opponent's side of the board because the class' sub-par AoE and defensive tools make it dangerous to leave things up. Since Betrayal both requires multiple minions on the board and is guaranteed not to clear off everything, it can be good but only half a solution.
On the bright side, all positional cards are much better when they are not expected and played around. Consequently Betrayal often ends up being a good card precisely because most people think it is bad.
it is a decent card. and good in arena. but people tend to place their minions accordingly so they wont get betrayed. u can use the surprise element and get some good results.
sudden betrayal on the other hand, is hard to use. i wish they made more secrets for rogue. ( instead of paladin...)

Out of topic sort of.

Its not very good for constructed but yea its underrated in arena.
It will see play after Blizzard pushes "no minions in your deck" Rogue for 3 consecutive expansions in 2021.
