I hate Kingsbane for the same reason I hate barnes. It's just an oppressive card that's extremely polarizing and extremely unfun to play against. It's the antithesis of poor design and really detracts from the game. It's not that the deck has no skill but it just auto wins certain matchups to such a degree it's cancerous. If their was a fair counter to kings bane or if it was a 1/2 instead I wouldn't complain but the degree of polarization just isn't fun. It feels a lot like jade idol but even worse. I just hope the card is nerfed and these cards with this level of polarization are nerfed and won't be printed in the future.
I dont understand whats wrong playing "brain dead" aka easy to pilot decks? I sure loved playing odd pala rogue warrior evenlock now i enjoy shudderwock and in wild jade druid and even shaman. I rly like just playing cards and trying to do what my decks i build to do to see it happen regadless of the thought needed for it as i dont find any reason as to why to burn my head using sth rly hard to pilot and likely not be fun to play just cuz its "skilled" and most importantly i love WINNING so if a deck wins more ofter than it loses then is an awesome deck that alot ppl will use it.Ofc i hate kings bane(not rly the ppl playing it unless they bm asf) but there nothing to discuss here as to why it is played which is obvious....it wins alot so just make discussions about nerfing it that might lead there
I'm not going to go so much into the debate on fun since it's completely subjective, but imo facing opponents that have enough meaningful responses to your plays in order to actually give you a challenging game are more fun.
Some people like to watch people carnival vendors 'win' customers' money that the participants usually don't have much chance at winning, but I can tell you that the sentiment falls more on the end of the one earning all that cash.
I'm f2p. I make decks around whatever legendaries I draw. I drew Kingsbane a while ago, so I play it. I don't netdeck - I just made up a deck for it. It's fun but not great.
I also drew Dragon Soul, and I play that awful card. I've been playing Harbinger Celestia (funny against spell hunter). I just play what I have.
Players play what is fun to them. Who are you? The fun police?
Decks that are too strong filter out what is fun to other players. Are you to say that only Kingsbane players' definition of fun matters? I know scores of decks that aren't even viable anymore solely due to that one deck.

Nice try but I never once mentioned fun decks. Do I really need to spam an exhaustive list of competitive control & OTK decks that get trashed by the deck now with a staggering 10-20% win rate? That is far from healthy. I believe certain decks/playstyles should naturally be unfavored in certain match-ups but that awful of a discrepancy is atrocious. Giants were nerfed because many decks had the same stats when pit against Giant Hunter & Giant Lock.
I just started Wild this season with it and have been having a blast. Using oracles and managing your hand and making decisions based on milling is super cool. I’ve wanted to try it for months but didn’t want to make the dust investment because it wasn’t great in standard. Now that it’s good in standard I crafted the couple wild cards I was missing and it’s so cool. It’s the same deck but honestly feels totally different to play in wild than it does in standard.
This isn't WoW, the rewards for high winrates is pretty barebones compared to other games. What are you even wanting to obtain with a high winrate using this deck exactly?
You’ve just asked, “Why do you play a reliable deck with a high win rate?”
This is a salt question really.
I was already transparent that I am tilted, but it also has a serious topic behind it as well. Playing one deck that is similar in disastrous effect to the old giant decks is very harmful to the game. In the long run it doesn't help the game yet players still keep jamming the deck onto the ladder.
A high winrate... Means you ladder faster...
Are you seriously wondering why someone would ladder with a strong deck?
I tend to play only Standard. I've looked at Kingsbane for a year, played against it now and again, thought it was kinda cool. I finally pulled the trigger. This is the last set it'll be around, at least in Standard, and I wanted to give it a shot finally.

Actually I am wondering why so many players who apparently enjoy the game and generally speaking love to see the game improve and be semi-balanced instead to opt for a deck that is the exact opposite of that. There is more than one strong deck and T5 doesn't force players to use just this deck in mass amounts.
It is entirely up to the players if the meta consists majorly of a deck that highly discourages the use of any slow deck.
Hey Johnny, not everyone is a Johnny. Deal with it.
Cute Broseph. Have an intelligent post to add or do they not teach you that on reddit?
What are you going to do with everyone who is a Spike? Deny their ability to play wild? Or what about every f2p Timmy who just opened Kingsbane in a pack and creates a budget deck? Who are you Johnny to deny their fun.

It's called creating a tech that is a soft counter to to Kingsbane, as opposed to having to chain multiple cards together just to maybe counter it if you survive or rely on wild rng to counter it. Timmy's deck shouldn't dictate 90% of what you're able to use for competitive play on ladder simply because a drooling ape can toss out multiple board resets/removal and then herpaderp half an OTK at your face per weapon swing.
The playstyle has the exact same effect on slow metas as giant decks did so it absolutely confounds me why it hasn't gotten the NSW treatment. It turns the meta into a hyper aggressive smorc race or bust, exactly like what giant decks caused.
YES! this exactly. But with a bit more salt..
Bc its fun? DUH
Why u hav to be mad? is only card gaem.

Was crushed few times in a row by big priest. Had all components to build Kingsbane Rogue. Built it and called it “Big Priest Bane”. Having fun.

Do you think people play decks like odd paladin and odd rogue because they're fun?
