So after I saw the stream tonight I had one thing in mind.
Control Rogue got never such a huge boost in any set.
First off it got a one drop with the new Burglar, that doesnt lose to hard on value. And its verry important for a Rogue to have combo aktivator early on that doesnt lose card advantage. It trades even with Bat and other 1 health minions but more importantly gives with backstab +3 reach post turn one which is crucial vs Manawyrm/Trog. Also not to shaby with cards like Brann and vanish.
Sekond Card is the Ilusionist which is a 3/2 for 4 that summons a 0/5 Taunt. This is a great devensive tool with Shadowstep, Shadowcaster, Xaril Poison and Vanish.
The 3rd card that realy makes this set up verry Strong is 6 Mana battlecry destroy a minion deathrattle resummon it.
Basically that card turns my shadowstep into a 4 mana assasinate and its a heavy combo with raptor. Also again a card that doesnt make vanish lose out in value.
Im actually hyped over these cards as a person that wanted a control rogue for so long. Share your contruktive ideas!
The main problem with control rogue is the lack of healing, not the lack of good board control plays..
Thats true but if you can put up taunts youll need less heal. But i think people are highly underrating the 0/5 Taunt token.
I can generate it with Shadow Step,Shadowcaster etc.
If enemy plays removal the token alone was like a Tazdingo, if he runs into it with minions it was basically a 3/2 for 4 Restore 5+ health maybe more if he has 2x3 damage for example. Also instead of heal this can be played proaktive which is a huge deal.
I would rate a 3/2 for 4 mana that restores 5 health about on paar with healbot imo. Since i rate a 0/5 taunt as better than 5 heal i cant rate that card as less than just amazing.
but i guess people miss the fact that this is not neccessary a on curve drop (which it can be) but also coul legitimately be run on a healtech slot.

How can you make a control deck around random cards?
The base would not be random. Its just that even slow control decks need early game plays and a random card to get is better than none imo. In control you still want to put thngs on the board but not lose out to much value.
To clarefy this nobody wants to build a control deck around random cards and i didnt say anything like this but RNG is sadly a part of the game.
Maybe youll try to be at least in some way constructive because otherwise just spare the produktive people some space so well dont have to scroll later on :)
No... zoo is going to be faster than ever, noone really got any tools to handle aggro shaman and rogue still has no lifegain. Tempo tempo tempo will be the only way to go.
Aggro usually goes 50/50 vs pure control (that's why they are so popular, no real counter), how on earth can you hope to survive as a control rogue? Big fail.
The issue control rogue has is that it cannot beat aggro. It simply cannot. Until a board clear takes the place of blade flurry, a control rogue will never be able to beat an aggressive deck. They will simply zerg you down, and use their reach to finish you off. The combo deck gets around this with very proactive plays, being able to control the board and having enough burst to finish the game before that point, but even then it's sometimes a coinflip.
Now, don't get me wrong, control rogue is insane. In terms of raw value and tempo it has the highest potential. This is why Valeera is often considered the arena queen. Because of this, control rogue is amazing as an anti control deck. Go to the late game against a cw with Anubarak. See how well they do against you. This is also why people are enraptured with control rogue, because it has such a high potential to be good. However, until we move to a control meta where we will actually be able to build decks to counter each other, control rogue just won't be good. Additionally, I doubt anything less than the rotation of LOE and another round of nerfs will be able to create a control meta, so don't expect to play control rogue in standard. And with the treatment priest got, I wouldn't expect a good board clear next expansion either.
When I saw it, I was like "Whoa, finally a good "Rogue" card. I wish it was 3/4, because as now it dies to Trogg after wolves, to any buffed minion and most turn 2 creatures. Plus it doesn't really fit Rogue current mana costs. 2 mana weapon is your hero power (kill that Wisp lol) so you can't use Deadly poison without coin, Perdition blade is already 3 mana costed (forcing you to coin) and there is no 4 mana weapon to profit from even it it survives.
Gotta try a Violet themed deck, but I don't expect any Miracle from it -hohoho-
I thought the same, like, it was really so difficult to make it a 3/4?? Basically it dies to buffed token minions, and that sucks.
Think in Saboteur for example, that could be an amazing card but the big downside is having it with 3 health, even in Arena this guy is just above average because of that. And that gets me thinking if Blizzard really wants to push new type of cards and making them playable and enjoyable.
My point is that this card might see play, but never beeing relevant, not even in Renolock, because this set proved that what works in Hearthstone is ''Summon a 1/1'', and ''Give a friendly minion x/y'', ''Deal x damage'' and that's it, the rest goes to the village of experimental 1-day decks, and that's what pisses me off.

without a heal and aoe clear?
not even close.
HE TRAAAAAADES!
Is this a joke or a troll post?

The lack of heal is what has prevented Control Rogue. The hero power really doesn't help either.
This card might help Rogue a bit,

Oh, the 6-mana Destroy + Resummon is gonna be pretty sweet with Shadowcaster.
So many synergies, man, I'm gonna need a few days.
