Yes, I have thought about the old wait-until-the-meta-settles argument, and discarded it, because reasons. I have a decent chunk of cards, meaning I don't *need* any of the strong legendaries urgently. However, my Whispers packs was kind enough to give me Xaril, Poisoned Mind, as well as N'Zoth, the Corruptor, and suddenly I'm playing around with rogue decks and wondering if Edwin VanCleef might be worth a deck slot in one of them.
I haven't narrowed down to a specific archetype/decklist yet, really just wondering if anyone has been playing with VanCleef recently enough to give input regarding him. Worth 1600 dust as a tier 2/3 craft?
It's a weird card...it doesn't really have any great effect, it's just a good minion to play. I don't think he's a must have in Rogue decks but if you play them a lot you might as well craft him
There has been word that with silence effects nerfed, VanCleef gets better, and it makes sense. Also, without relying on blade flurry for strong burst, rogue becomes more of a tempo deck by default, and he fits quite well there too.
If you don't want to wait and feel you have everything else in terms of neutral legends, yeah, I'd say it's a safe bet.
He is definetely worth it! I crafted him for my new miracle rogue and have not regretted it for a second! He is insane because how flexible he is and with nerfs to silence and bgh he is a tier 1 card for sure
Rogue has become much stronger with WoG, and that means both Thalnos and Van Cleef are terrific & very useful minions to include, not to mention that they will stay in both Standard and Wild forever, so they are not legendaries that will sonner or later be phased out, like others that people are thinking of crafting right now.
I have a very limited amount of legendaries (other than adventure legendaries, I have Sylvanas, Y'shaarj (yay), and Boogeymonster (double yay)), and I don't really dust cards that I don't have more than 2 of... As a result, I find myself very hesitant to craft a Legendary that isn't an absolute must have or straight up game-changer in a match. Not to say VanCleef isn't great or a potential game-changer under the right circumstances, he is still a minion that revolves around hitting people. Nothing wrong with that, but I personally feel like I'd save my dust for a legendary that a deck simply cannot do without.
As a 2/2 for 3 Edwin is not automatically valuable, but with Rogue's cheap spells, Preparation, and the Coin (which you might already have, or you might manufacture through Tomb Pillager) he quickly becomes a valuable minion. I like to play Edwin early, say, on turn 2, Coin, Prep, Eviscerate/Sap something, play an 8/8.

FTPer here and I don't have EVC or BMT. If you only had dust for one, which would you choose? Thanks in advance.

Without Edwin, you have to replace him with another finisher, which are almost all just as expensive.
Without Bloodmage, you can just replace him with another cheap drop like Kobold, Undercity Valiant, Undercity Huckster or Journey Below.
also Bloodmage Thalnos is a great card, and a real boost in a lot of mage and rogue decks, but it is often pretty replaceable
I have been playing more rogue lately and was actually thinking of crafting BOTH Edwin and the new bug, but have not quite wanted to spend all that dust.... will probably try to save up for gold for another big set of classics and hope for some good cards...

I play for fun. I don't rank very high.
Kripp said it's good.
I got lucky and got him in a pack.

I tried having fun once. It was awful.
tier 1 card. completely worth it.

Thanks for the replies.
When I refreshed the forums screen, I saw someone else made a similar thread a couple of minutes ago, so sorry for the double post.

Sure he dominates in this meta of no BGh and owl

Proud creater of 'hand' rogue
As a 4/4 or a 14/14, Van Cleef rules. Craft him!
He was one of my first lgdrys. I never play Rogue, but now that BGH and some silence cards have been nerfed I do regret dusting him.

Yes, he is great legendary. One of the coolest looking too

Absolutely. If you plan on playing rogue to a high rank, then then having him is next to essential ^.^
Lost access to my internet for over a year - glad to be back :3

Make the Card: The biggest thread on the site!
My mandibles which are capable of pressing down and tearing, my talons which are known to intercept and hold.
Question is should I craft it in Golden? 🤔
