If you don't have an immediate way to deal with it you have to trade into it with your hungry dragon, which totally negates his extra health.
Or you could let it live since the dragon would do more dmg than him, i do know that they gave tips about "board control" in the tutoral, but you don't have to go brain dead tard mode every single turn to keep a board clear.... Just let it live.
Let's see how that works out for you against aggro or token decks, just give combo druid another minion to roar. But clearly your opinion is correct, which is why this garbage card in ran in a total of 1.75% decks. Such a great card bro.
Low usage =/= bad, necessarily. I've cut it from my deck now that I'm getting better at dealing with secret paladins and I'm almost never seeing tempo mages but I hit legend with it in my deck last season.
It's a card that occasionally can have a massive drawback, usually is just good, and occasionally can have a massive upside. If he deals with an Effigy or a redemption (or allows you to pop an avenge when you have a way of dealing with it, or a bunch of other situations) then his value is HUGE. Obviously on those times when he summons a dust devil and you've got no board he's insanely negative value but I still think he holds more value than something like Dragonkin Sorcerer, who is being used a lot. Kibler practically threw a party on stream when he actually managed to finally activate his effect with a power word: shield yesterday.
Currently I've found that my early game is good enough that I don't need him - I think I cut him for some high mana card a few days back but I'm constantly tinkering so I don't remember what for specifically.
I'm not arguing that he's a must-include or anything, just that the dragon power starts to drop after about 8 (2 whelps, 2 guardians, 2 azure drakes, ysera + one other dragon legendary) and many want 9-10 activators considering 4 of the dragons require activators themselves to be good. There are very few good choices and I think hungry dragon might be one of the better choices out of a bunch of bad ones.
Hmmm....I was wondering about him, he works as a board clear which can be nice though he kills your own as well. I had "Rend Blackhand" at one time but it felt like I was always holding onto him just waiting, waiting, WAITING, for someone to drop a legendary minion so I could kill it. It's funny you mention Chromaggus because I was considering him the other day, I can't remember why I didn't drop him in. I've had Chillmaw pay dividends a few times when facing all these "swarm" decks that are in the meta currently but I'm a new player, I've only been playing since April so I'm on here genuinely trying to improve my play. I'll have to fit Chromaggus in and give it a go.
I wouldn't use rend - he becomes your only BGH target and gives opponent value. Rend is a great choice if you want to go the route I have and add in Nef/Boom as well for 3+ BGH targets but running just 1 is generally a mistake. You either want to run 0 and make them sit with a dead card until they play it for tempo or you want so many big cards that they eventually run out of answers. I think Chrom should work out nicely for you :D
I don't know if it's been mentioned yet, but the first thing I thought when seeing Hungry Dragon was that his 5/6 body is Lightbomb-friendly. I'd run 1 Hungry Dragon and 1 Dragonkin Sorcerer.
The mana cost is my only issue with running Chromaggus I'm in the low is ranks so I face a ton of low cost low HP minion "swarms" Chillmaw stops them dead in their tracks. As I browse through the deck I am having a hard time looking for an expendable minion. I have "Bloodmage Thalanos" in there mainly for the card draw but I did once combo him w holy nova and board cleared a Druid. It's a tough call, chillmaw's death rattle is essentially another board clear in some cases. Usually when I'm playing this build I'll purposely hang on to minions in effort to avoid my opponents board clear. Once they use their 1st I start to take risks
