I achieved legend rank today with dragon priest and I can also say that it is a tier 2 deck. It is decent but I won't say it is patron level kind of good. The dragon priest deck is just really good at maintaining board with all its value and sticky minions that are hard to remove.
My current list and I was top 150 legend with priest before so I am somewhat adept in this class, so try it out if you like!
Hunter destroys Dragon priest, especially using hybrid hunter as freezing trap really slows them down. And if they are running the aggresive type of dragon priest, they're fked.
Could you guys give some feedback on my version of this deck? (don't have vol'jin)
Rend is for big minions like tirion fordring and ysera which can destroy if not dealt with.
2 velens is to have a more consistent early game if I don't draw into dragons.
Confessor Paletress + Ysera seems like a bad Idea because Confessor is basically a 9 drop as well. I would choose one. Also, the Twilight Drake seems out of place to me.
Lightbomb is amazing once you have lost board control and they are threatening lethal. Especially if you hold off a turn like you don't have it and they overextend. I run 2 holy nova as well.
Also the reason I run ysera and paletress is that ysera I think is soo much better than chromaggus and nefarian because it sticks for more than one turn so much more often. I might consider running saraad over twilight drake but I love the extra dragon synergy and it actually works out pretty often having usually a 4/5 or 4/6 dragon.
i made this deck may 6 and i was trying to make a valid dragon priest since the release of BRM. i had many overwhelming wins with it back then, people viewing me were asking what deck is this and its so strong and stuff. i tried to popularise it here but you see im not reynad or popular streamer and i didnt get even 1 vote up. i made threads screaming that dragon priest is awesome and almost all from here mocking me that dragon pri4est will never be a thing. funny how things turn around eh? reynad plays it and suddenly its an amazing deck now

I don't mean to be rude and that looks like a good pre-TGT decklist for dragon priest but I'm gonna go out on a limb here and say that the 2 mana 2/4 taunt, 4 mana 3/6 taunt dragon, and 7 mana 6/6 boarddestroyer dragon have a lot more to do with all the new dragon priests than Reynad deciding to pick it up (Kibler's list is better anyway :P).
Just curious what are your reasons for not including chillmaw? I have had exclusively good results.
Chillmaw is Detrimental when ahead on board and board clears like Holy Nova and Lightbomb are better when behind. When the board is kinda in-between the deathrattle is useless. Dr. Boom outclasses this card. Noteable very strong against Piloted Shredder though :P
Good to hear that Dragon Priest got a boost. I always liked that deck and was hoping the TGT cards fit in. Didn't get Chillmaw and holding back from crafting, but I'll keep an ear out to see if this keeps up.
And yeah, the deck SHOULD be ablet o handle combo and aggro decks well, but be weak to pure control like handlock or control warrior. Decks that apply constant pressure through minions will be that way.

Saying "got a boost" is an understatement, Priest got rocketed straight up in the top tier list. Players who play hyper aggressive decks, now basically need to pray that the Dragon Priest's hand curves out extremely poorly, otherwise Twilight Whelp, into Wyrmrest Agent, into Blackwing Technician, into Twilight Guardian means insta concede. On top of that, there's Chillmaw, Facetards cry evrytiem. :'(

Definitely not because Reynad played it. It was because of these awesome new cards. Anyone interested in dragons just got more interested. I got to rank 5 2 different seasons with mine before TGT just because I wanted it to work so bad but It wasn't enough. Now it's enough because of TGT.
Isn't lightbomb just a better Chillmaw? Lightbomb atleast improves the matchup against handlock.
Not at all. Chillmaw is honestly the MVP of this deck. Not only does it act as another dragon activator (which is extremely important, having your 1 and 2 drops with no dragon to activate is the worst) but it also has additional upside while lacking some of the downside of lightbomb.
It adds a 6/6 body over lightbomb and doesn't nuke the hell out of your creatures when played - often you can make trades as a setup before throwing out chillmaw whereas with lightbomb whatever board presence you have is probably just gone. His deathrattle can also be manipulated somewhat - if you don't want it and you're able to, just play your dragons. Additionally, he's silence bait. I've had him silenced when I don't even have the activation for him before.
Obviously, there are also some downsides - getting him silenced when you NEED that deathrattle/taunt can be devastating, and having him lying around with no activator when you need the AoE sucks. But lightbomb has some downsides as well. Sometimes lightbomb will be better, sometimes Chillmaw. But I think in this particular deck that Chillmaw is the right choice more frequently than lightbomb. If you really feel as though you need an additional comeback mechanism, play Chillmaw *and* a lightbomb. But this deck has such a nasty early game that it's not often that you're behind on the board - and when you are, often a lightbomb won't save you. Chillmaw can at least be used offensively.
I found that the deck needed more combo stuff to stay ahead where minions with good stats just isn't enough.
The deck lacks good cycle and the removal of CoH weakens the shit out of Northshire Cleric. Azure Drakes are a must here imo with decent synergy with Holy Nova and a cycle + body.
Early drops are good but a 3/5 on T6+ is a total waste of life. I added beef to the top end here with Boom, Chromaggus, Sylvanas and Loatheb. The meta is slower atm so i've put in a Mind Control almost solely for the Wrynn drops ive been seeing.
I'm currently using this deck that Kibler was playing on stream. It's a little more control oriented than Reynad's version and I like it a lot more (and frankly Kibler is the dragon expert anyway :P). He made some modifications to this but I've stuck with the original version.
I feel like twlight drake is a bit weak here and like I need to slap at least one holy smite in if I'm going to use Vol'jin but I'm not sure where to subtract. I like having a lot of dragons for activation purposes so I'm hesitant to remove dragons. I'm also dead set on the shadow word: pain because of what I'm playing. A large # of my matches are against totem shaman and that new midrangey paladin and if Murloc Knight and Thunder Bluff Valiant aren't dealt with immediately I pretty much end up losing the game and both can be pained.

smorc for days...

Is Lightbomb a must? I'm currently running 2 Holy Nova instead.
Here is pro player Bestmarmotte dragon Priest deck variant (see the description for possible changes described by him) :
I use 2 Shadow Word: Death. Lightbomb can suck because you're trying for board control, but I'll put it in if I'm encountering Handlock.

Lightbomb/Holy Nova doesn't help when you're facing OTK Frothing Berserker combo or Force of Nature + Savage Roar combo. Chillmaw, on the other hand, seals the deal. Try her couple games. I'm pretty sure your opinion will be changed =).
Meta changes the moment you switch your deck.

One does not simply walk into Mordor,
unless they want to be the best they can be.

its a pretty good deck. i think CW and Pally are stronger right now though.

OH and Flash heal + Auchenai is invaluable.
this is my version, i feel like it's pretty truthful.

Anyone have some input/opinions on this decklist?
I'm pretty sure he made lots of changes to that deck like taking out the cabals and shrinkmeister but it's still probably really strong.
