Playing standard. Priest by turn 4 has discovered about 4 cards, and gotten discount on whole hand twice (palm reading). Two palm readings, 2 renew, 2 draconic studies. Plays 6 cards and still has more cards then started with. Meanwhile in this time I've 3 minions and he's at full HP. Drops a nightmare amalgam then a spell to give it extra HP and attack for free (because cost reduction based on # of spells in hand) then somehow duplicates it next turn and there are two like 12/14 or some ******** stat nightmare amalgans. My board is zixor and 2 other random beasts.
I don't feel like looking up the other card names but this is ********. Only class that ends up with more cards in hand after playing cards. Discover is ******** and once pally and mage get nerfs priest is going to be even more cancer
So many things wrong that I don't know where to start.
Discover does not increase your hand size. You can use one card and get one card back. Hence there is no way a priest played those 6 cards and have more cards than started with.
Nightmare amalgam is not in standard. Circus one is.
If you left a minion on board untouched for a class which is famous for buffing minions, then it is entirely your fault. The priest is just doing what he is supposed to do.
Priest is pretty much the worst class right now and if it is broken or OP, then the rest are beyond broken.
When Priest is OP, people complain. When Priest is weak, people also complain. Regardless any meta, people always find ways to complain about the class.
And rightfully so, shit's boring as hell. And I don't even think the class is OP, in fact, after giving it a try a couple times I concluded that despite having some insane and indeed OP cards, the class is ultimately doomed to keep doing the same thing it has been since the game lauched. I have genuine pity for Priest players, so much so that I give every single one I encounter a free win, because I prefer lowering my rank than facing a Priest.

It wasn't so boring until Blizzard decided on its class identity crap.
It used to have northshire and circle of healing draw combo, so you can play fast combo decks like cthun.
It used to have direct damage spells, so you can play otk decks relying on valen and malygos.
It used to have divine spirit and inner fire which resulted in super big minions or even otk charge minions.
They removed all these then what else can priest play but control?
"I don't feel like looking up the other card names but this is ********."
Traduction: ME go face and to lazy to learn the game.
The community IQ is getting worse every year.
This.
There is a salt thread for this kind of topic.
Priest might feel shitty to lose against but it is anything but OP. It is the value class with zero draw so it needs discover effects - it just so happens that the pool is fairly strong right now particularly for heal spells.
Also to all those saying Sethek Veilweaver is OP, have you seen the card pool? There are far fewer targetable spells now so it kind of got nerfed with rotation.

Every class has OP cards. Just because you don't like the play style doesn't mean others don't - controlling the board and discovering/managing resources whilst generating value is fun.
Giving every priest you face a free win is either (a) total BS or (b) the most pointless thing I've ever heard.
Why is everyone complaining about these decks that don't win, and no one is complaining about the deck that is favoured vs literally every deck in the game (ok it's even vs warlock).
Now that Palm Reading has been around for a bit, and Animal Companion is out of Standard, I think we could move on to "always Palm Reading". Not a complaint, it rarely turns out to be a problem, but I can maybe count on my hand the number of Priests I've played against that didn't play Palm Reading by turn 3 since it released. Pretty crazy - but that's just my singular experience.
Let Priest be good. While it is my least favorite class, every class should have its time in the sun regularly. They specifically are usually pretty low winrate in lower ranks, getting better the higher you go - and go long times between really competitive lists.
My issue with Priest isn't really with a card or anything, Priest wastes my time lol. I would just auto-concede but they always trick me into a false sense of "I can end this before they really pop off" and I almost never do haha. Oh well! My comeuppance for something in a past life perhaps.

Of course people can find it fun playing the class, I just said I don't find it particularly engaging playing neither as or against a Priest. And I don't need to be rational if all I want is too have fun playing a game, that's why I concede against every Priest, even if I win the experience will most likely not be woth it.
Also, I never complained about the OP cards, I simply stated that they exist, but as it turns out, most of them are very similar: board clears or value generation.

1 million % agree with you and of course the trolls here are all priest players, so they obviously dont see the problem. The potentual toxicity of discover mechanics and card producing cards has been a topic of discussion in hearhtstone for years now and its not just the discover mechanics, its the RNG mixed with the fact that the player that never runs out of cards usually wins. Its fucking broken. No wonder heathstone has been dying over the years.
also, why the fuck are there so many creatures that have discover built into them now?? the 3 cost 1/3 scorpid with poisionous and discover for example, there is no way in hell that would exist 3 years back, its fucking stupid how busted that is and now the game is filled with bullshit like that. Couple years back only 2-4 classes had discover cards and they have like 2 or 3. Now every class has at least 2, but priest and mage have like 12 and that is not including neutrals either.
So yes, its gotten out of hand.
And for all the "Oh quit your crying, people always complain about priest" its losers like you that only play the most busted class regardless of what it is because you cant win a game any other way.

Priest is not the most busted class by any measure so... what?
Priest is weak right now but if it gets any good spells to discover next expansion, it will be the sooooo annoying. The strategy isn't good yet but I agree with OP that it's whole strategy feels really lame to play against. It can discover copy after copy of board clears and it competes with mage and rogue for the most bullshit cost reduction. Luckily, they currently don't have any good value cards to take advantage of.
I'm by no stretch a priest main, but I play it from time to time and I cannot believe I'm hearing people complain about it. By no stretch of the imagination is priest in good place right now. Control Priest a tier 2/ tier 3 deck that has decent matchups against some of the major meta decks, but is only heavily favored versus hunter. It also, BTW, is one of the only decks that can keep secret pally under control.

It just feels bad to lose against because it feels like the Priest has all the answers but more often than not they don't.
Saying it is busted and OP is clearly not true given where the class ranks. Typically it straight up loses to any class that plays on curve and generates threats BUT it should be favoured against decks like Face Hunter because it is has control tools and the class is based around HEALING.
Saying that I think better and more invested players gravitate towards it because of the value and the challenge it offers. Thats probably why you keep losing and have such a salty response 🤣

I don't know what to say to this. Its a dishonest post from the get go, you are just writing off any possible motivations for people disagreeing with you and have made it so that in your own head, these people must have the specific motivation you have concucted. I'm not going to slam your intelligence but it's a really short sighted, ignorant thing to do.
You're literally just ranting at this point, you don't seem in control of your language, you've just vommed onto the screen basically. You are acting and speaking irrationally, so I have zero way of discussing this with you. Irrational people don't do conversation well, I've learned this over the years.
I hate to bluntly just say 'you're wrong' (you are) because one should generally explain their argument and I should point out why you are wrong. But you've made it clear that you will instantly assume I am a priest player (I do play all the classes but priest is certainly one of the lower and I haven't played it properly for a good while). I certainly don't have the Bias you have convinced yourself that I must have in order to disagree with you.
So I'm honestly left with the assumption that you're a low rank player. I don't want to 'get good' you but in this case, I think you would benefit by being open minded and looking to learn, rather than abusive and short sighted. I suspect you don't want to learn though, you just want to rant.
Let's stay with what rank are you and what's giving you trouble? There might actually be some help and advice that gets you over the bump.

I mean, they were bad before rotation too and were still bottom 3 so unless Blizzard prints another Mass Rez they still aren't going to be that strong

Give back Northshire and print more proactive cards like High Priest Amet etc and Priest will be good without any Rez effect.
It's a unique playstyle. In principle, I think that's a good thing, and the problematic part in your experience is the cost reductions, not discover.
However, I think it's problematic that each new playstyle seems to push traditional smorc and control further out of the meta, and the fact that rogue, priest, mage and warrior all have way too much card generation and even neutral discover/card generation tools are viable is a problem.

By traditional smorc, you mean aggro decks that run out of steam at some point, right? I don't understand that point of your post otherwise because Hunter smorc still exists, but I agree with the rest.
I also see cost reduction as the main problem, looking at Palm Reading and Still Broken Spring Water. Imo Discover effects are frustrating because many people compare it to drawing and then assume that discovering is so much more random and undeserved, but it's just you getting a card out of thin air instead of drawing it. If I play Runed Orb and find a Flamestrike or if I play a Cram Session and draw it, the result is the same. Does someone who naturally draws into it deserve the win more?
And honestly, people complain so much about Tickatus, but discovering additional resources is much better against Tickatus than drawing yourself closer to fatigue before getting ticked. So control decks kind of need the discovering to not get down to 5% wr against the Tick.
