Prior to scholomance it was virtually any 30 card deck. Priest is usually propping up the ladder, yet when they get a few good desks ppl poop themselves. Anyway, give me 15-30min games anytime over dead by turn 4 or 5. If you don't like it, concede.. like priest generally does vs aggressive decks.
This! I play exclusively Priest, I like the challenges that Priest offers and the steal/use your opponents cards and minions against them play style as it's so different than most other play styles.
Priest is a difficult class to judge. It has always been a control class, and it's hated, becuase the majority of people prefer fast games with Aggro decks. However, there are many players who enjoy long control matchups (including me), so that's why it's a difficult matter. I think, every class has it's own advantages and disadvantages, while we can say that Priests biggest advantage is that it counters Aggro. Obviously deleteing the class is not an option, just like you wrote, but it would also be fun to see other archetypes than control for Priest. I still don't understand why they HoFd Northshire Cleric and literally destroyed the only other possible playstyle - Inner Fire combo.
I don't like to play against Priest, when it obviously is the hardcore Control Type, who doesn't play anything before Turn 3/4, while you try to balance early mid and lategame into your Control Type to not auto lose against Aggro. Especially if they BM you with Thank you as you lose. Like Dude, you're playing a heavy control deck againts my balanced control deck. Get a hold of yourself. Guess thats why priest is also hated so much. Many people who play priest are utter cunts.

I think that advantage you mention is what it SHOULD be, right now slower decks are loosing to priest thanks to galakrond and other cards. I know it sounds super salty but what I feel when I match against priest is f**k this class. So going by the heart #ReworkPriest

You'll find alot of priest players including myself completely agree priest is in a bad place right now it has one style of play and that is pure survival, Its not aggro, Its not midrange, Its not even control it is purely survival, You win the game by surviving, Did you survive against a aggro player then you won, Did you survive against a midrange deck then you won, Did you survive against a control player then you won, Priest is a class with no win condition, Its only win condition is to literally survive against the win condition of every other deck type and then they finally win, You're not salty at all because alot of priest players feel the same way, We're not happy being the class with no direction at all but its what we have so we make the most of it.
I would love to beable to play a early game priest deck but does the class have the cards to support that, Hell no. I would love to play a midrange deck with priest but again it does'nt have the cards to support that neither, All it has is control and its not even regular control because it has no win condition other than just surviving everything your opponent does and beat them with stolen cards and RNG from Galakrond.
Look at the dual class cards and you will see 8 cards and 7 of them are 100% designed for the other class and not priest and the one that is actually better in priest is only better because once again it allows you to steal your opponents stuff, Warlock/Priest you have Raise Dead, Flesh Giant, Disciplinarian Gandling and Brittlebone Destroyer all of which are better in warlock than priest so much so only one is used in priest at all and lets be honest priest does'nt exactly need Brittlebone Destroyer removal is'nt something priest lacks. Then in Paladin/Priest you have Gift of Luminance, Devout Pupil and High Abbess Alura all better in paladin than priest and then you have Wave of Apathy which is the only card that fits into the current style of priest and that is because it allows you to steal from your opponent.
Priest is in a place right now where it does'nt fit in any of the normal styles of play, It cannot do aggro, It cannot do midrange, It cannot do combo anymore and it cannot do control, Priest is in place all on its own called survival mode and it is extremely frustrating to play against but its also not exactly fun to play neither, I would like to say Blizzard will give priest a direction but after seeing those dual class cards i honestly dont see it happening anytime soon they printed 4 warlock cards 3 paladin cards and 1 priest card and called them dual class cards but hey priests are used to relying on other classes cards to actually be playable so i guess in that sense it fits the style of priest to just say "Hey heres 4 warlock cards and 3 paladin cards you dont have to steal you can just put in your deck........Only they will completely suck for class so you might aswell not bother".
Let's make a list of things that players dislike in Hearthstone (keep in mind though, those are not necessary OP but may cause negative experience for most players):
RNG having too much influence on the gameplay (Yogg Box, Reno etc.).
Heavy mana cheating (not only discounting cards but in a broad sense, including too strong cards for too low mana cost).
Too much card generation. The problem here is not the power or value of these cards, but rather their number. This forces you to predict the unpredictable, because your opponent can play basically anything (just like most Rogue decks in last 3 years or Casino Spell Mage, who plays pretty much different deck each game...).
Too much pure value generation (like Jade Druid, Dr. Boom or Deathstalker Rexxar).
Too many ways to get cards from outside your own deck or even class (I think it's a separate problem because it can overcome class design limitations or create unhealthy combos).
Too many tools to stale the game and make it non-interactive for the other player (cheap and strong removals, freeze, taunts, reborns, heals, resurrects etc.). This one is also related to previous points.
Too much aggresion (like Pirate Warrior or pre-nerf DH).
Too consistent and easy to get OTKs.
But how can you tell when it's "too much"? Well, that's the hardest part. Though by looking at Priest you can tell, that this class contains quite a few points from this list...
As a Razakus main, reaching legend usually, I must say that there are other control decks that I enjoy, some even more than Priest, but with so many brainless aggro and face decks, there's no way for me to both have fun and win. I think Internet kinda killed this game before it was born, as I never (and most players) play against a deck I don't know the full list by turn 2. Everyone plays the same 10 decks, there's no creativity, and once I start using experimental decks at legend I'm losing a lot and being matched against Diamond players, who are usually playing the same shitty decks I hate, and I really don't want to help them reach progress, so I'm back to my control decks.
I remember my early MTG days, when there was ONE printed magazine in France talking about the game and providing ideas and decks, but you never knew what exactly to expect in a tournament. HS is probably doomed to stay in the same state, over several years or playing it, my experience hasn't changed much.

Great comment, only missing “when something is too OP as a deck”
This is what I think is wrong with hearthstobe standard. I play a lot of HL Hunter and decks like this is desirable at the top, lets compare to the list: 1. Not much RNG. Few discovers and then nagrand slam. Of course top deck RNG but that is a given. 2. Limited mana cheating. You have brann and dragonqueen but those are the legendary payoff cards of the archetype. They can also be countered. 3. Very little card generation. 4. Creates value with zixor prime but requires drawing both first. Uses a lot of good cards with high value of course but doesn’t generate much. 5. Well only explorer and dragonqueen plus zephrys breaks class limitations. 6. After discover change not possible for the deck.
7. Can’t stale games.
8. Aggression depends ok curving out. But that is the wincon. Don’t think it is overbearing.
9. Being highlander means it is not too consistent but it only uses good cards so it consistently has good cards in hand but maybe not for the state of the game
secrets are annoying to me, especially counterspell. its unhealthy for the game because of the small deck/hand size. add in freeze lock, infinite discover chains (not fixed)...mages are clearly the most annoying.

Priest is a lot more fun than losing by turn 5 or less. THAT is some uninteractive and non fun horseshit.
The problem with priest is that he doesnt have a counter, a player with a brain can easily take 80-90% win rate.
Yeah delete that priest.
im stopped playing wild because of priest. Resurrect priest is a damn shitshow in wild. Its really fun playing against that shit.
killing obisidian statue fifty times yeah!!!!!

Priest is the class im facing the most (EU Legend), and Im not even sure if Galakrond Priest is better/worse than Highlander Priest...

BHahahahhahahaha. No dude that's aggro get it together
lol
priest is one of the worst classes in the game right now. they need a serious buff to be honest and quicktime. any solid player can beat it.
big up myself and screw you guys.

Priest is not the problem, the problem is the toxic, roping, entitled players that play it...
Great art can never be created without great suffering.
