I have played hearthtone since beta and my favourite class is Priest. Why? It has somewhat chaotic game play and you can change gameplan on the fly. It had multiple win conditions and so on...
But this season. Omg this fffin season priest is literally dead. I have tried nomi, zerek, res, silence nothing works. You get overwhelmed, brawled to extinction, hit in the head with 7 giants. We have nothing to counter them. Every deck is too slow. Every deck is just trash.
Look at metastats, not 1 deck is listed there as viable. Also same thing can be said for warlock.
Next expansion we need some good stuff. This is the worst season for priest since launch.
Yeah well that is strictly because of blizzard moronic policy, where they are pretty much splitting archetype into 3 or so expansions. So right now you have at least ressurect and buff(i guess?) priest in development and either in the next expansion or even next one one of these will be complete and most likely very powerful.Until that point sucks to be priest(and warlock and paladin)
The problem with priest is that it's basic and classic cards are for the most part pretty underwhelming. This is especially important regarding boardclears, where priest and shaman are the only two control-leaning classes without efficient ways to clear the board in the "core" sets. So Blizz has to print on a regular basis powerful removal tools or it's not possible to make a control deck. I guess priest struggles most with this as shaman usually has some sort of token / midrange thing going for it at the very least.
As a wild player this bothers me a lot, priest is freakin OP in wild and that's because all of these powerful effects blizzard keeps giving the class to make it viable end up being funneled into 1 really powerful wild control deck (Big Priest) which is the scourge of the meta.
Warrior has Brawl, Warlock has Twisting / Hellfire, and Mage has Flamestrike / Blizzard / Frost Nova, so these classes already have some good things going for them removal-wise in any meta.
I'm a priest player too and rocking a control and a ressurect priest at the moment - it is working wonders most of the time - the only weakness is control warrior or giant mage, which is fine in my book.
Priest might be bad right now, but it isn't any worse than during Old Gods and Karazhan, or during Witchwood after the nerf of Spiteful Summoner. It wasn't good in Boomsday either.
You can be unhappy about Priest in Standard, but if you play for as long as you claim, this should be nothing new to you. I'd hesitate more to call it "the worst season since launch", because there have been very many where Priest was pretty much unplayable.
Mark my words: Priest will be shit tier again after this expansion.
I basically play only priest and I really can't avoid saying this: priest is not going to be good in the next meta. The class is simply unable to put together a deck that is the best in something: there's no way that priest will have a good control deck (if compared to warrior or shaman classes who HAVE A FINISHER), and the aggro way is just a dream. In the midrange, it will simply be crushed by the ton of better decks around here .
I think Team 5 is going a good healthy way with priest pushing into more board focused teritory. Also i think Priest is in a better Spott than during unicorn meme days.
I can't agree with the optimistic flow in this thread. The effort you need to put to play a priest deck is simply not rewarded. Too many situational cards and a great dependency from drawing the cleric AND the pyro.
I'm sure the only playable deck will be an inner fire variation.
The other classes are more likely to have best turns during the whole game.
I actually have high hopes for Priest this expansion and I think the average power level of their cards is absolutely bonkers. However, I think they might be edged out of Tier 1 territory by some of the other just incredible cards being released for other classes, mainly shaman. That shaman quest is just.....crazy. I'm half afraid it's going into pre-nerfed Quest Rogue territory good. Lackey's just bring the overall power of Quest Shaman to obscene levels, effectively doubling lackey generation with double the lackey effect for dirt cheap. It's also just stupidly easy to activate (the quest).
So while I don't think Priest will be unplayable (and if we're being truthful, with the exception of pretty much vanilla HS, it's always been in a relatively playable spot) I'm not convinced it'll be top tier this expansion. However, I think Priest will be in a good spot once the expansion hits, probably one or two solid Tier 2 decks and I think that's definitely good enough for now.
I have barely played HS when the previous expansion came out. We lost our most powerfull board clear when the rotation hits and priest was dead at that point. Due to not playing I dropped back from rank 3 to rank 16. Since the last expansion came out I started playing again and am now back to rank 6. I'm not playing all too much but priest is definately back in the game.

Nah, still gotta pay back for the Machine gun days.
And the class will comeback imba as fcuk at the end of the year. As it is always. So dont run around and scream like headless chicken
Priest deserves to be dead tbh. It is the most annoying class to play against.

Play wild then. Even though my deck is trash tier it is still more enjoyable than ones I have in standard.

"I don't know how to play against this class so I shouldn't have to."
Sound logic, lad.

Where did I say I don't know how to play against it? It is just the most annoying class out there. Better read carefully before posting next time lad.
I love playing Weasel Priest in Wild. But in general I dont like this disruptive ultra control class. So it is fine to stay weak

Seems that Blizzard really hates the class.
Sad but true.

Well see were priedt ends Up in next meta.
You can always go BIG.

Just my 2 cents.

These people complaining there aren’t any viable priest archetypes like they aren’t just playing Divine Spirit + Inner Fire and calling it a day.
This thread was started before the latest expansion. The conversation doesn't pertain to the current meta game.
