Why is that both of the Priest alternate hero are/were behind the paywall? It's clearly unfair. When they launched Tyrande Amazon prime wasn't available in my country back then. Now this one comes from pre purchasing 80 packs.
Not that I care about cosmetics & my love for Anduin hasn't decreased either. But this one is unfair.
Before anyone jumps in saying Mage, warrior & hunter also have their alternate heroes behind the paywall, my point to them is that they are not for the limited time. With priest one it will be up for limited time. Which adds some extra salt in the wound.
To be honest I think they should at least make one free (and available for everyone) hero for each class so that everyone would be satisfied. But why make more free heroes when you can make more money right? It's interesting that they didn't make a hero for Year of the Dragon (which makes me wonder if there even will be more free heroes in the future). Even though I have Tyrande and I don't really care about the new one, I think it's unfair that the new priest hero is for preorder especially since they realised that they fucked up with Tyrande before. It makes me think that they did it on purpose so more people will buy the preorder.
The heroportrait is for free. It’s like a Baloon you get for free if you buy a new car. A unique Baloon, but only a Baloon nevertheless.
This. Exactly this. People getting pissed over not getting cosmetics for free in a f2p game are the kinds of people who will find a way to complain about literally anything they don't like. It's a purely cosmetic thing and NOT an advantage in any kind of way, so there's no reason to be upset about it.
I used to help organize a semi-regular FSG in Toronto. A couple folks who were pack-a-day smokers would often complain about how Magni, Medivh and Alleria were "locked behind a paywall". They decided to "fight the power" by not purchasing the cosmetics, and frequently bitching about it to anyone who might listen. In Toronto, a pack of cigarettes is locked behind a $13 paywall.
If anything, it's surprising that the HS store isn't crammed with purchasable cardbacks, emotes, hero skins, game boards, alternate card art, and any other cosmetic you can imagine. It isn't. You can buy packs, and some four-year-old hero skins. Shockingly, whenever there is a new expansion, they offer a couple promotions . . . and some idiots pretend it's the end of the world.
Really and truly, they need to give Tyrande another gracing. Totally ridiculous that I couldn't get it due to Amazon's relationship with my location.. :-/
I've never bought the ones in the shop, and I missed MechaJaraxxus, but I don't like being denied things that are free for other players.
Anywho, I get the new priest one at least :-)

My guess is that Blizzard knows that Priest has perhaps the most hardcore base for any class in the game and I wouldn't be surprised if also the highest average player age (jobs, money). Before the Hearthstone forum got rid of the Class forums, Priest had the most threads of any class. Same here on Hearthpwn.
Control, slow, complicated play tends to side on age in my experience. Where as faster, easier play is more attractive to younger, less patient people. Not always for either, but as a rough average that's what I've seen.
If that is true, I can understand why the two priest portraits are behind "tougher" paywalls.

I own both skins and I'm still using Anduin lol

I agree. I feel really sad not to own Tyrande, one of the most beautiful Heros.
Feel you, bro but this isn't a rant. Move aside and let the man go through...
Soul Cough
I enjoy.
Tyrande wasnt behind a paywall, but a location wall. Worst Blizzard fuckup so far, that and Khadgar.

Miss Tyrande :(
What?

Every game makes you pay for cosmetics. Be gratefull for the ones we got for free. After all, blizzard is a company with financial interests
I have all the alternate heroes except for King Rasthakan and the only two i use is kadghar and mechajaraxus.
It's just a cosmectic thing, i would be more pissed if they put something really important behind a paywall.

That's Incredible!

But Tyrande is not behind a paywall, you can't pay for it (and could not in many countries), so Blizzard is not making what they could.
