I love priest. I have more than 1000 win in rank with him but this class has a major flaw. It can only be control.
All other classes have alternative decks. Warlocks are either hyper control or aggro with zoo. Mages have had control decks and aggro decks. The same with warrior, druid, shaman, paladin etc.
Some classes are also kinda forced into one deck type, like hunter and rogue. But hunter has gotten almost every expansion some cards for a potential control archetype even if it didn't work. Rogues have always been combo-ish but now they have an aggro deck and an otk deck. Some would argue kingsbane is a weak control deck with a powerful win condition.
Sadly priest has always been control. All his deck types are slow as fuck. The fastes and most aggresive decks priest had were raza and dragon. These are not aggro decks. You can't win before turn 6-7 with them. Priests game is always stall with *stuff* until you can either otk or win by fatigue.
In hs combo decks are just control with a win condition. Remove the otk, add powerful legendaries and you have a control deck.
Now, priest being inherently slow and control oriented wouldn't be bad if the meta wasn't so polariezd. If control is strong, usually warlock can outvalue priest, so peiple play warlock instead (or whatever deck is better). If control is weak, priest is weak as he can only be control while warlock can go zoo, warrior can go pirate, mage can go burn/secret etc.
Think about it. Priest has always been in a feast or starve situation. Either he is oppressive (raza), either he's on the weaker side if things.
TL:DR: Priest is only control. Control strong ->priest op or up(other control beat him). Control is weak ->priest is run over by aggro. Priest can't play aggro. So priest either oppressive or weak.
I am playing an Aggro Priest using Baku and Moth which plays similar to Heal Zoo. It can burst high damage with Void Ripper after buffing your minions health.
Ok, there have been some midrange decks, but my argument is still somewhat valid as i did say dragon was more aggresive, but it's not a true aggro deck. My problem is priest has never had a good aggro deck or any aggresive class minions. There are around 4 total 3 cost or less minions that priest received in the last 6 expansions that can be played aggresivly. Murlocks are neutral, any class can run them and win. If you base your aggro deck on neutral minions, why don't you play other classes with better burst than priest?
Thats not true actually, the combo version of priest that runs now is pretty aggressive, and spiteful priest was midrange.
Also it's not necessarily a flaw to be pushed into some archetypes, hunter for instance can't be control, but works just fine
But hunter gets 1-2 cards almost every expansion that push him a conteol archetype that, true never works, but gets support. What support did aggro priest get in the past expansions? He got more boardclears, shitty buffs, gimmiky spell cards (zerek, dragon soul), dragons and deathrattles. only the 2 drop from kotft could be aggresive
Inner Fire Priest can be adjusted to win with an Aggro clock.
Not top tier, but it is there (always been), and you also get the benefit of surprise effect.
Anyway, having a weak side of the archetype spectrum is not much of a flaw, if the rest is solid enough.
Druid has no Aggro either, at its core. It has cyclical access to Token, but not always, and it is still a Buff kind of a deck, not Aggro (you get Egg-Zoo Druid in Wild only, but it is currently out of radar in the meta).
Actually, there is no real Aggro in the meta anymore. At most, it is Tempo decks that can effectively snowball if unchecked (typical Aggro has either won or lost by turn 6-7, while current Aggro can keep pushing much longer)....

Yeah but why should priest have strong aggro decks is what i dont get. Not every class has to do everything
I don't mean every class has a viable aggro, combo and control deck. I mean they at some point they had a top tier aggro and control (and some) combo deck. Druid aggro was a thing at some point. And not in a gimmicky murloc priest that was viable for 2 days kind of way.
Every class but priest had an "op at its time" aggro deck: face hunter, pirate warrior, shamanstone, force of nature druid and tokens, odd and miracle rogue, zoo warlocj, odd and murlock paladin, burn and mech and secret mage but for priest nothing. Most classes had a control deck (and if they didn't then they had a combo deck). i find that unfair.
Force of Nature Druid was not Aggro. It was a Midrange deck.
Hunter still lacks a proper Control deck, even tho it has very good tools right now, and can fight toe-to-toe with Control. Combo Hunter has never risen beyond meme-tier.
Spiteful Priest existed for a long while, and required a nerf. And it is/was a Midrange deck.
Pre-nerf Razakus Priest was capable of OTK (on top of being a top tier Control deck).

That's very picky honestly, some classes never had a control archetype, and some never had a combo. I really don't see why priest should have an aggro archetype

Please tell me you haven't just classified Combo Druid and Miracle Rogue as Aggro Decks... Anywyay, setting aside the heresy you wrote above, not all classes can play the same kind of Decks as well as other classes.... Has Hunter ever had a Control or Combo deck? Has Rogue ever had an actual Control Deck? Has Control Shaman ever done anything revelant? The answer is no,cause those classes are not meant to be used that way... Sure you can try and maybe you'll even manage to build a decent Deck but it's not ever going to be as good as one of some other class that has cards and hero power more suited for that gamestyle...

Still, i don't see how priest should have a top tier aggro deck. It's not in their class fantasy at all, and their class identity is completely different.

PS: I meant to write *is* not *in* in the title
Spiteful Priest was able to win at turn 6 because of the great tempo of the deck.
But you are right, after the rotation Priest is the worst class.
It have only slow decks, and not that viable
Leper Gnome
priest can't have good low mana minions because of his hero power. sadly.
Priest did have Murloc Priest which can snowball into winning T5. A Pro player went Top 5 Legend with it (during the post-nerf witchwood times) https://twitter.com/SamDi_hs/status/1011741121863544832 (list here https://www.hearthpwn.com/decks/1133727-samdis-rank-5-legend-murloc-priest)
As aggro as you can get.

Murloc Priest was just a hype that fizzled in few days. Everyone was hyped about it for a week and then nobody played it again.

I took Combo Mecha'Thun Priest to rank 5 earlier this season.
Unbowed. Unbent. Unbroken.

Untrue, Priest has both been able to play lots of Combo decks and Midrange decks trough time rather than just Control.
Force of Nature Druid was not Aggro. It was a Midrange deck.
