I know Dragon Soul is kind of a joke and I haven't seen anyone else use it at high ranks, but I actually made my most successful deck ever with it and got to legend for the first time in 2+ years of playing with it, so I thought I'd share in case anyone else wants to try a different but still successful deck. Basically you fight for the board while drawing cards with your healing on guys you already have or Injured Blademaster. With the cards you drew you can start either finishing the game with an inner fire combo or generating dragons with dragon soul. Lyra provides one more out too. Witchwood Piper makes this deck a lot more consistent than in the past, as Northshire Cleric is the single most important card, followed by Radiant Elemental and it makes it much more likely you'll get these cards at some point in the game. People don't suspect the Dragon Soul priest so sometimes they waste an ooze before it comes down which always feels nice. Plus Spirit Lash is very effective against Odd Pally and Hunter which are pretty popular decks right now. Spirit Lash is also great for draw combined with Northshire Cleric and either Circle of Healing or Divine Hymn.
I'm pretty new to this forum, so not sure how to post the deck as an image, but I've included the link below.
Looks like fun. I had one last expansion but haven't updated it so I will give it a try.
When you go to this link you just have to press the save button on to top right. Then you can find it under your personal decks and include that link in the thread ;)
Thanks for posting! Dragon soul is my favorite card from kobolds and it never worked very well previously in standard but now it looks possible! Will try it and provide feedback!
Just FYI, the link you posted is to the deckbuilder, where anyone can change/save the deck and post it as theirs. You should save it and post the BBcode for the deck, might not matter this time, but it's more of a general rule ;-)
That being said, was Dragon Soul actually important, like at all? I would guess that most wins were from the Inner Fire + Divine Spirit combo. I mean it's cute and obviously "free" stuff to throw at your opponent to deal with, nothing against it, im just wondering if it pulled some serious weight on average, or if it was more of a flavor thing ;-)
I don't actually have Vivid Nightmare in my collection, so didn't have the chance to try it out. I did toy with some other spells like Unidentified Elixir and Mass Dispel. When you get the copy version of the Elixir, it's kind of like a Vivid Nightmare, and very effective. I ended up trading it out for the acolytes though to get a little more draw and have more minions. This deck needs minions to make a lot of its spells playable, so Elixir ended up being a bit of a win-more card. I'm guessing Vivid Nightmare would function in a similar way, but I haven't tried it, so if you do, let me know how it goes!

I just played a game against cubelock where I got the dragon soul and draw comboes off and kept pumpin dragons throughout the whole game to victory. Then I lost to odd tempo mage.

It's definitely not the most important card in the deck, but it does have value. You have to be pretty aggressive with sticking your board, so I spend Divine Spirit without waiting for a combo just to get high health minions on the board that I can use to keep control and heal for draw. Similarly I often use Inner Fire early on just to keep the board, for example to make a 7/7 or even 5/5 Tar Creeper to kill off something. When you use those combo pieces early like that, Dragon Soul is very effective at snowballing the board later and giving you that other win condition. That's the biggest thing - it lets you not care about spending your Inner Fire and Divine Spirit because you have another way to win the game.
I crafted the weapon after your post, just to try out the meme. And also because I'm a Priest main and just want to have all the priest cards for a pointless reason ^^.
Tried two games so far in casual mode and really had fun playing it. Ofcourse just two games doesn't say much but having fun playing a deck does.
I followed your tip by just spending the Divine spirit and Inner fire which helped tons of keeping early board control. Later on I got lucky by getting getting Unidentified Elixir off Lyra the Sunshard, which transformed into Elixir of Hope , which I immediately put on Lyra the Sunshard again. That was a rediculously funny moment.
So kudos! and I'll upvote your deck just because of the fun and meme.
Congrats man! Much respect to those that craft their own deck and don’t just trawl through the net looking for a cookie cutter “take me to legend” deck.
I’m a hunter man myself and am killing it with an odd deck that’s a lot different to the net ones.
edit: You might even try adding Questing Adventurer to the deck, instead of 1 Acolyte of Pain. As the card draw you already have is huge. You'll often find yourself with a full hand of cards. Just a Power Word: Shield alone makes it a 3/5 with huge possibilities.
So based on a couple of games with your deck, I have amended it a little. I'll report the results later on.

I did try Stormwind Knight early on, but I realized the #1 priority is sticking a board, and trying to hold combo pieces for later interferes with that. Basically Stormwind Knight only adds value if you lost your board presence, but if you lost your board you probably didn't draw much either, so you're unlikely to have assembled the combo. Also, by the time you can pull it off, your opponent often has a Taunt minion, so you need to have a Silence as well. For that reason, Acolyte of Pain worked better, because it comes down a turn earlier and gives you more consistency. If you're already drawing well, then you don't need to play it and you're probably going to win the game anyway. I do think Acolyte of Pain is the most cuttable card in the deck though, so if you're looking to add different cards and see how they work, that seems like the best bet. Questing Adventurer is an interesting idea that I hadn't considered. My guess is that it also works as a win-more card as it works best if you've already drawn tons of cards, but I'm curious to hear how it goes. As for switching Spirit Lash and Silence out for Shadow Word: Death and Shadow Word: Pain I think that depends on the meta you're facing. Spirit Lash absolutely crushes odd pally and odd hunter which were very popular decks in my climb, so I value it highly, but if you don't find you're playing such decks, then I can see cutting it, though it does have the added benefit of helping you draw a bunch of cards in combo with Circle of Healing or Divine Hymn. Silence is fantastic against Cubelock and generally for pushing through a Taunt for lethal. In some matchups though I just use it as a 0-mana Spell to trigger Lyra the Sunshard or Dragon Soul, which is obviously not a super powerful play.

Dragon Soul is cool and all, but you know what's better than getting one 5/5 after three spells? Getting a 3/3 every time you heal something - If you build a deck around token dragons, you'd think there would be a place for Nightscale Matriarch. You can even put two of them in your deck, in case something happens to the first one.

That might be true, and I haven't tried out the Nightscale Matriarch. But, it seems very late for this deck. You need to get board presence quickly and games are often decided by turn 7. Plus, it's not really turn 7, because you need to play it and heal things right away. If you already have a board to trade things with on turn 7, plus a Circle of Healing to restore them to full health you've generally won, and if you don't, this card won't help. For that reason, this feels like a win-more card. In practice you need to have a very early curve to maintain board control versus aggro and to get your pressure in against control before they get their board clears. For example, Twisting Nether is devastating against this deck, but the game is generally decided before turn 8, so it doesn't matter often.

Your answers are spot on. I only tested a couple of games in casual mode, while you are playing the high ranks. That's a whole different story. I will still test some games with the changes I mentioned but will eventually also go back to your original deck to try ranking up.
Last night I have played quiet some games with your exact deck. It went very well until I came up to the ranks I only meet cubelocks and odd paladin.
My main problem was that Lyra the Sunshard was always killed the turn after I played her. Then I eventually ran out of cards. A single 5/5 dragon doesn't help out well against a fresh board of 1/1 minions every turn against paladin.
I did make 1 change afterwards, which helped me out quiet a bit. I switched out 1 Acolyte of Pain for Zola the Gorgon. If you have a Radiant Elemental on board, you can get Lyra the Sunshard , Zola the Gorgon and three spells out in 1 turn. That's a very effective turn and you'll be sure when Lyra gets killed, that you can play her once again the turn after.

Mad respect for not only climbing ladder with what is considered a meme card, but actually succeeding with it.
nice idea, would squashling not be better than pixie though?
Interesting deck and Ill love to try it tomorrow! Thanks man!
Wow very nice!
I kinda expected the deck would have Vivid Nightmare in it, but it doesn't. Seems like it would fit perfect into this deck.
Thank you very much. I am still hoping for a viable deck with dragon soul und will give it a try

Have you every thought about adding Stormwind Knight to your deck?
At turn 9 you can deal 20 damage instant by playing Stormwind Knight , 2x Divine Spirit and Inner Fire.
Just another win condition.
With Radiant Elemental on board you can even make this combo at turn 6.
edit: You might even try adding Questing Adventurer to the deck, instead of 1 Acolyte of Pain.
