I've played both alot on their own and together peronsally i found Lyra more consistent in terms of results overall but Elise has also had some decent results i think both have their merits for sure, Together i've found them abit clunky at times and normally its Elise or the pack i tend to use less when playing both since Lyra fills my hand up pretty well in a decent game but having a pack sitting in your hand is never really a bad thing i just rarely found the need to play it unless i drew Elise and the pack before Lyra.
Now if i was crafting one or the other i would personally still go with Lyra since i'm a priest player and even in future expansions Lyra is going to be value since SW:D SW:P PW:S ect are always going to be staples in the priest decks unless theres a serious shake up so one card which on average should add 3-4 cards to your hand atleast and is a must remove is going to be around for a long time, Ofcourse theres going to be some decks which dont need to run it but theres so much value in that single card that unlike some legendaries in the past which lasted one expansion before they fell out of favor Lyra is a card that has the potential atleast to be seen in priest until it rotates out, Ofcourse Elise also has that same potential and for other classes may become more valuable as the expansions roll out but as a priest player i see more value now and in the future in Lyra than Elise.
I think Lyra is a card that has the potential to make sure priest doesnt drop to bottom of the tier list until it rotates out atleast unless Blizzard seriously screw the class over which is possible ofcourse, Playing dragon priest for example the opponent knows what to expect then you drop Lyra and a few times i've had drake on the board and gone from a 4/8 to a 32/32 game winner in a single turn thanks to Lyra, Even in future expansions aslong as theres minions with big health pools that potential is there regardless of the deck you play.
IMO they are both good. The Un'Goro pack really helps especially with Shadow Visions. BUT with divine spirit and innerfire and all the other spells, PoM, PW:S, etc Lyra can pop off pretty well also.
IMHO, it is pretty surprising seeing the poll's result - having Elise & Lyra neck to neck, or almost : 47%/52% - I naively thought everyone would say Elise, and for 2 mains reasons : 1) Its a neutral legendary (versus a class one that obviously can't be played by other class) : so more versatile ; and 2) In just over 100 games this seasons, I may have seen about a dozen of Lyra, and possibly twice as much Elise : so popularity wise, I was assuming Elise had the upper hand, even if my sample may be biased.
All and all, I was under the impression that the HS-community had a preferences for Elise, as she's a great add to most control decks. Now, seeing the poll's results made me doubt about what I assumed was a certainty. If I had to chose one, I'd still go with Elise first, but hopefully, it isn't one OR the other but rather 'which one to craft 1st'
Awesome discussion, thanks for asking the question OP! I've been considering which legendary to craft myself, but seeing as I don't plan on playing other class' control decks I think Lyra would fit me better. Good to see it's basically 50/50 though.

I'm glad you found that helpful. I ended up crafting Lyra and i'm now playing some sort of Dragon Miracle Priest. I went from rank 14 to 9 losing only losing 3 games: 2 Taunt Warrior and 1 lucky huntard. I'm still trying to go further.
Of course now that I crafted Lyra, I want Elise so bad too.

It's a great thread/discussion. I was actually going to ask a similar question, but not so much concerning Elise. I feel like Elise fits more of a control archetype, which I generally don't run. Lyra seems like a staple in EVERY priest deck(except silence). I'd love to try Dragon/Elemental priest decks.

Lyra the Sunshard can take a game from 0-100 real quick. He's just so ridiculous after you cast a few cheap spells.
Lyra 100%. Lyra alone can make the game. Elise depends on which cards you draw. Most of the time I draw cards which have no synergy with my elementals deck what so ever.
As an F2P player myself, I'd advise "Go for the neutrals first". You have no idea how good Elise will be after future expansions in decks other than Priest and if suddenly there's a new Control Warrior or Handlock deck or something that prominently features Elise you'll feel bad you went Lyra, whereas both Lyra and Elise are good in the same types of Priest decks.
Lyra is probably slightly better in Priest as you can go off more consistently with her (it?) than you can with Elise, but Elise into Shadow Visions is pretty broken in its own right.
Id say Elise. Firstly because she's neutral, second because Elise is more important to dragon priest than Lyra is. Many versions or dragon priest don't run Lyra. With dragon priest it's hard to chain spells because lots of the spells in that deck are high cost, where as in miracle priest you are only using cheap spells. Elise can single handedly win you late games, especially in priest.
If medivh is the value king then Elise is definitely his queen.
I don't play Priest, but from what I can gather, Lyra has more immediate value. You can discover the Elise spell, but I feel like that would require maybe having less spells, or being mindful of your spells so you know when the best time is to play it.
For dragon priest, Elise is better, unless you also have Divine spirit/inner fire in your dragon deck.. in which case Lyra is better (due to more spells).

Lyra is better in dragon priest.
Elise is better in control priest.

Balancing busted cards version 1.0.

Lyra in my opinion: completely due to the fact that the Dragon Priest that I run only runs spells that benefit my Inner Fire combo.

I have a hard time really getting value out of Lyra. Shadow Vision + Elise is just flat out better and accomplishes the same thing.
