Priest is surprisingly in a good spot right now (so far). Almost all priest decks are viable to a certain extent.
However, there is a final problem for me, one that I can never solve - whenever I face an Exodia Mage (infinite fireballs OTK), it's an instant concede for me. I have yet to find a solution against it. Since most priest decks are more control-ish, it's impossible to win against Exodia Mage.
So, anyone can share with me how they can beat Exodia mage? Any type of Priest deck is fine for me.
If its the Molten Reflection version of the deck, that matchup is pretty tough. Ultimately, you need to get very lucky. Sometimes you can highroll an Divine Spirit/Inner Fire combo if you mulligan in such a manner. But yet, Dirty Rat would be pretty helpful in these matchups. It's also just a solid card in general, works well with a lot of the Priest buffs and removal that exist in the class.
If you see it often, then Dirty Rat is probably best option since it has some use in other match ups as well, unlike Eater of Secrets.
However I haven't faced one in quite some time because aggro wrecks them, taunt warrior has 2x Dirty Rat and many other control decks teched it in as well. To me it looks like it fazed out of the meta for time being. It is probably not worth to weaken your deck with situational cards for a march up that happens rarely.
Im resurrecting this thread... Since Im running highlander and suffering to these cunt's. Is dirty rat still the way? Or should I try to rush a Velen Combo? When I have, I been stoped by several ice blocks...
Im sure that quest is pretty fun to play but facing it is like watching someone masturbate in public.
Sure, Dirty rat can work. If you pull Archmage Antonidas and kill him, it is very hard for them to kill you. The only Option for them should be to play all their minions and try to kill you with minion damage in the extra turn. If you pull Sorcerer's Apprentice, it's still possible for them if they get the right rng, but it will be more difficult.
But I guess Eater of Secrets might be the better Option for DK Razakus. You race the mage, maybe even with an early Velen, and when you brought him low enough, you play eater of secrets and kill him (after eater you have 6 mana left to refresh your hero power which should be plenty enough). Since you do not rely on minion damage for the last hitpoints, you should be fine with him freezing your board as well.
Edit: Of course, eater of secrets is pretty useless in most other matchups. Against Paladin, you can play him as a 3/5 that kills their secret, that's okay.
Dirty rat is pretty useless now with simulacrum, they still can complete the OTK even if you bring one apprentice on the board so it's Antonidas or nothing.
You need to rush their face and you have plenty of tools for that: Anduin, Raza, Velen, mind blast, even if they freeze the board ten times, you still can deal tons of damage to their face.
If you have a minion-heavy deck and the board clears with freeze + Doomsayer are a problem, you can try Spellbreaker or Crazed Alchemist. Spellbreaker is a useful card anyway; it's not wasted when you play against a different class.

Quest mage doesn't use freezes like traditional freeze mage. It doesn't really plan to clear the board, it only aims to stall you, whereas freeze mage's less impactful combo package means it needs to clear your board most of the time.
So quest mage doesn't really rely on nova + doomsayer together (and if it needs it often in that matchup, it's probably a horrible matchup) and if it is played like that you are piloting it very suboptimally.
My convoluted way of saying silence won't matter much, unless you run big minions so impactful than silencing one of them could be relevant.
One of exodia mage's greatest weaknesses is nozdormu
You don't wanna have to build nozdormu but I found that bone drake works well in big priest, it has a high chance of giving you dragon legends, so does drakonid operative, works well in regular priest
Depending on the deck running a Coldlight isn't a bad option either. Good in Highlander DK. Either try to burn them after they fill their hand up or get them on 1 health and try to hit them when they have 3 cards left in their deck. Let them pop fatigue through their block once they play Time Warp.
Im betting that one the nerfs happen, Exodia Mage, big priest and the fatigue warrior deck that lasts 90 turns will be played alot more than they are now. All 3 of these are insanely unfair deck for new players due to the dust cost so really hoping face hunter becomes strong enough too and played alot (especially fairy dragon and bear shark) with Spreading Plague and Innervate Nerfed.
There are few Exodia Mages in ladder right now and you are playing highlander so you will climb really easy anyways.. If you don''t have like 80% winrate you are probably doing something wrong
I second the coldlight. You can overdraw them really easy, or put them into fatigue to get around ice block. Plus coldlight gets you closer to your combo and likely not help them at all if you only play it when their hand will be full and they mill the two cards.
I try to play with Exodia mage, it is the most unfun deck I ever touch, I know from 1° turn if I will win or lose.
And yes, Highlander Priests are easy targets, every slot in that deck spend trying to counter Exodia mage make a lot weaker vs anything else and Exodia mage is unplayable with so many Keleseth decks in ladder.
Don't try, if you playing with priest just concede when the mage play the quest and move on.

If you steal an Ice Block, and you're running the quest, the mage literally can't win. Other than that, you're not winning that matchup.
I think tech Eater of Secrets and Dirty Rat works

Try this, it may work:

You could try that 2/2 with deathrattle summon an 8/8 as a response to doomsayer.
Just a thought.

Ice Block should never be 'discoverable.'
