So I went to continue my journey toward legend with my janky priest deck. Played around 20-25 games in the last 3 hours and ended up dropping 2 stars and now sit at rank 4.
What happened do you ask? Did you stop getting lucky? Did you stop having the answers for pirate warrior, quest rogue, taunt rogue, face hunter and quest mage? No, no and no.
I only saw those decks 4x, and I won all those games. What I saw instead was a collection of janky priest decks, greedy mage decks, Rogue steal your shit decks, inner fire and any other off brand nonsense people could come up with. And it was glorious.
Sure I lost more than I won, I am not a great player and rank 3 is a good place for me to end the season. But what I noticed more than anything. My opponents were ready for my shenanigans this time. They knew the dangers my deck presented. No more targets for potion of madness, more 4 attack minions than I ever thought could exist in hearthstone, and other people greedily stealing my shit the same way I had been doing to others the past couple of days.
So keep playing guys. Before you pronounce Blizzard retarded and hearthstone dead, there are a lot of fun decks out there being played at the higher ranks.

I've had a similar experience with garden rogue. The past couple of days the ladder has been really janky...but oddly effective in the jank. This jank has been a bit greedier which actually plays into the wheelhouse of garden rogue, but I've really enjoyed seeing the fluctuations of this meta. Heck, I have only run into 1 quest rogue in the past 25 matches which blows my mind considering the insane hype the deck was receiving.
Finally found a follow up to this deck, it's real great actually, I NEVER considered the Medivh amber combo. Only changes I made are -holy novas for another shadow visions and dragon fire for more use of the deck spots. Really appreciate someone making a good deck for me to use my golden Lyra in, it'd be a shame to DE my only golden legends ever
I'm not too fond of Medivh, the Guardian in this deck. It is really contradicting playing him with Radiant Elemental. Although the combo with Free From Amber is nice, it barely ever works out, as you usually need other spells at that point of play and you'll see 2 or 3 mana minions being summoned.
With 2x Kabal Talonpriest and 2x Power Word: Shield you should really give Confuse a try. It's so much fun to punch your opponent in the face at unexpected moments. Confuse made my winrate go up a lot.

I understand your reasoning, When a mind control gives me a nogginfogger and the staff gives me an ancient of lore from the amber it hurts.
But Medivh is not something I play on curve, and if the elementals are still on the board when I get the staff, well, that is a win more situation.
Medivh usually comes into play against control, he sits in my hand quite often in other matchups. But he gives me a win condition against greedy decks. And since the other cards all work just fine on their own, I don't have to combo anything with medivh to win. Quite often I will use my nova's with the staff out if tempo and the board dictate that I do that.
I posted a medihv combo deck a few days ago, been tweaking it and having great luck and fun with it. Not sure how to post deck list as a reply, but named it and posted it as Mammoth spell priest. If anyone could give feed back that would be great. And it is wonderful seeing ingenuity rewarded!!
So, you are telling me I need to use my last legendary fuel (2200 dust) to buy Lyra... I happen to have a Golden The Voraxx as well... would it fit in this deck or would it be too greedy?
Rollback Post to RevisionRollBack
Remember playing Control Shaman with Reincarnate shenanigans? No? It was fun, here's a refresher!
I don't think priests are so good as alot of people here claim it to be. I love playing priest atm, and i'm sure many here do as well. But lately, the winrate has dropped on every priest deck variant for me. In the beginning, people didn't know what they were doing, so a decent priest player could have a lot of fun(since priest players usually are better hearthstone players in general).
The last couple of days, I feel the game has become alot faster. It's rare that I play beyond round 10 now. Adding wild pyromancer has helped a little, but screws up card draw unless you also run cleric and circle of healing and possible also acolyte of pain(and then the deck just becomes another lyra spell heavy deck which is not quite consistent enough).
Priest decks are mainly played for fun really. Or at ranks between 5 and 10. It is and has always been really hard to reach legend with Priest. Most people who claim they reach legend with Priest first played another class and then from rank 5 to legend they play Priest.

Yep totally just fun nonsense decks. Korean players aren't very good at hearthstone anyways.
Yesterday, I faced warriors, rogues, mages, hunters, druids... A lot of druids strangely. Didn't see any Quest Rogue so yea, the meta is moving so fast. I don't remember facing any priest though (played around 15-20 games). I am mainly playing my own secret mage myself.
I really love this expansion atm, a lot more than the kraken year. It's enjoyable because you face a lot of deck variations and with people playing discover/discover from opponent or cards like Elise, you never know what can happen. It look like people are customising their decks, so yea it's really good.
Unfortunately, I don't think it will stay like that for long. Some lists will be claimed top tier and we will start facing the same decks soon.

But please write off a class one week into the meta. Good luck with that.
You are basically confirming what he wrote. That deck was played from rank 5 to legend(almost any deck with any class can do that). Secondly, you base a short clip of a one win and generalize ...what exactly? Try and watch some legend priest play on twitch and see for yourself. I'm not saying priest is horrible, but that people have been overrating it. So in defence of Trump, where people on here was flaming him hard because he said that priest was not going to be good; he might be right. Notice "might", before guys like you throw a hissy fit
The silence variant has some good matchups(like other priests), but is easy to counter if the opponent knows that you are playing it. A few taunts or, removals, makes some matches unwinnable fast. And sometimes you just don't have any minions to buff. Thirdly, innerfire combo is very situational and is the only win condition. If you see the latest video from the man who posted his insane winrate from rank 5 to 20 legend. He has about 50% winrate now.

So what ranks do priest get bad. Top 20 legend? Because this guy was rank 24.
And yes, that clip was just 1 win with purify priest, but this matchup was a very good example of some power priest can have in this meta, a board centric deck that can avoid freezes. It's a good choice against Time Warp mage.

You are making erroneous logic leaps. You can't conclude on a general level(as in "priests are good", "this deck is good for everyone" etc) based on a single instance. That is basic science. You can say that deck at some point clearly did well, but there are so many variables at play that you can't say with any degree of certainty that it will produce the same results next time. If, however, you reproduce the same results many times over where the environment is reasonable similar, then we can conclude on the deck's viability(meaning strenghten the hypothesis of the god mode deck).
If you look behind that one example, you know that it was achieved many days ago, when very few people had even reached legend. This means if you were the first one to reach legend, you would be number 1. If you were the 24th, you would be nr 24th. I'm not saying he was the worst one on legend, but you get my point. Furthermore, if you see his rank on his latest video he is welll over 200 using that deck.
How about just trying out that deck for yourself and report if there's any meat to it? Again, i'm not saying it's not a good deck, I just want some more proof.

Came in to make fun of you for whining, and was pleased to see someone who appreciates the ingenuity going on in the game these days.
Most people at high level already know the meta is very interesting. Global games is proving that. We saw a silence priest put in work.
Well said! I've been trying to mess around with a "janky priest" deck too - I'd be interested to see your deck man cos it's a lot of fun!

I actually am sad now when i dont draw purify,who would've thought..lol
Just Another Legend Player#Kappa
I like Medivh, it's true it's rare when I really have a use of him,
But when I use amber after, and I get 2 of those charge dinosaurs.... THat's love
