They have a shot versus aggro and buff/adapt decks because of all their silence and control effects. They just lack a solid win condition other than building up a wide board to end the game before the other decks have a shot at killing them or using some C'thun+control combo. Will they be worse than Paladin? I don't think so.
Trump has been pretty bad about predicting the meta in the past.. but I am pretty sure he is right. Theres going to be better control options, that priest will just auto-lose to
I think the deathrattle quest will be weak in standard, like he says. (Look at the options!) But I think it could be bonkers in Wild.
Also, I think a spell-based Priest might be decent. I'm not sure what it would look like, as I don't play Priest, but there are some interesting spell-focused Priest cards in the set that look very strong to me. I don't know if there are enough to make a decent deck, but I suspect their might be.
The new taunt dragon is not bad, you can put a Ysera and Drakonid and become a lot easier to find another Drakonid from Historian and Dragonfire Potion will become a lot stronger after Azure go to Wild.
Name 7 good deathrattle minions that you can play on curve without losing board or losing by turn 6.
That is basically the backbone of trump's reasoning
But what if we make a deck where Awaken the Makers is more of a support card, and doesn't rely on N'zoth the Corrupter as a win condition. Like, a Grinder Priest that simply outlasts your opponent, and all the deathrattle cards you have are meant for draw, card generation, and survivability.
That whole video was full of just naysaying except for all the love he showed to Hunter. He's wrong, just as he has been on the past 3 expansions. He also said Midjade Shaman would take over the meta once the STB nerf happened and it stayed right where it was. He's the first to admit when he is wrong though, so at least there's that.
That's an interesting point you have about Reno but I don't believe a grinder play style can exist anymore. Grinder was successful in the past when win conditions were few.
A grinder type style can not last against jades because priest didn't receive anything to handle them if they grow to big. This same rule can be applied to the new quest druid. Priest can not keep up against an onslaught of large creatures (especially when they get reduce to 0 by Barnabus). The deathrattle options available can not hold against elementals, jades, or pirates.
Most importantly 7 deathrattles is alot. That dedicates your deck to be fill with them to allow less variance on when you get Amara. The other quest have options that flow naturally with the deck and doesn't hamper it as much as the priest quest does.
Druid - Summon 5 minions with 5 or more attack: Very flexible and they have many many cards to support this plus even more were added in the set to support.
Hunter - Summon 7 1 cost minions: Wasn't as flexible until they showed the rest of the set but it got the support it needed.
Those are just 2 examples on how the quests that were introduced to the class got support for those quest. Arguably priest got the weakest support for their quest PLUS the existing tools for their quest doesn't offer much to aid.

That is from turn 6 to 10, what are you going to play in turn 1 to 5? Shadow Word: Pain? Good Luck.
Yup. dragon dead, tragically it struggled during the Bahamas tournament compared to the other decks most players brought. Almost felt like it was the pity deck to bring. Since paladin and hunter was such garbage

Mid-jade shaman was super strong after the stb nerf

Is this true?
I mean, surely, there has ought to be something for Priests, right?

Try and build a decklist for it and judge it for yourself.
I have yet to see a decklist for it that I'm impressed with.

Seems ok.
Are you guys saying Priest's rotating out of standard? Already?

Dragon is really dead?

So, I just recently thought up of kind of a combo deck...and it may not be what you expect.
Obviously, highly experimental, and will need quite a bit of playtesting. Any thoughts on how to make it better?
My dream of an elemental deck, has come true.
Servant of Kalimos Stone Sentinel Blazecaller Kalimos, Primal Lord Glacial Shard

let's wait and see what Zetalot can come up with.
Everything that isn't about elephants is irrelephant.
I was gonna type fake news but then i realize you werent talking about junk food
Even then, but I quite doubt so, have you thought about Priest in Wild?
I mean, not so great cards in Standard (apparently) are nuts in Wild. If I were a Priest Player, I would definitely accept the trade.
We will have to see when the meta takes shape.
