I read lots of comments on both Hearthpwn & /r/Hearthstone & I saw that many of them are downplaying this card by saying, it isn't going to be viable besides dragon priest deck.
I think they just missed the potential of this card. I think it's really a great card even in a control priest deck. People will say it will damage your minion too & to the, my reply will be, It's already happening with another AoE but in a smaller scale with Excavated Evil. But that didn't stop anyone from using it.
It may not be as strong as Lightbomb, But it's way more powerful than many have interpreted . Even in Non-Dragon Priest deck.
IMO It may not be the AoE we all have been waiting for, but it has come close. It's a strong AoE.
It's played like Lightbomb with same or better strength.
- Just like Lightbomb you play this when you don't have a board.
- The fact it doesn't hit Dragons is off set by the fact it can kill 4/5, 2/3, 2/4, 3/4 minions now etc unlike Lightbomb...
- Almost all aggro decks don't run Dragons.
If the text only read ''Deal 5 damage to all minions'' for 6 mana people would be shitting there pants, but because it says ''Can't hit dragons'' it's making certain people go stupid in the head. Many times the Dragon text will have no effect, and even if it does spare a enemy Azure Drake but wipes the rest of board doing a 3 or 4 for 1 still amazing...
It's a very powerful AOE for sure, i could see it having play outside of Dragon Priest decks. Alot of people thought that Darkshire Councilmanwould be a weak card, and yet it's one of the "Must haves" in warlock zoo decks as of now.
I usually don't like to express my opinions on cards before they are released to the general public, since we never really know how strong/weak a card is until it's been tested in the current meta. For the most part, just by looking at it i can guess it will be a somewhat powerful card.
Mostly since with many new seemingly powerful "Dragon Priest" cards being revealed, most people will probably want to try out a Dragon Priest deck. Which could demean the cards value. Dragon Warrior is already decently popular at the moment as well, so in all i guess we will just have to wait and see.
The Dragonfire potion is quite powerful even in non-dragon decks cause of how powerful dealing 5 damage to non-dragon and it is basically a better flamestrike if it is played in a dragon deck so I believe because of it costing one less mana and deal one more damage and can't hit dragons like flamestrike that is why people are saying it is good in dragon priest only when it is also good in control decks.
Ok hold up. Who in the right mind is saying dragon fire potion is bad? This card is flamestrike on steroids in dragon priest. This card is GODLY. I GUA-RAN-TEE you that when this card hits, shamans will run in fear of priest.
I don't understand how anyone can see this as a bad card. Control priest can't even put a minion on board so it doesn't matter if it can also hit its own minions, and 5 health is a top off for most midranged minions.
The only drawback of this card right now is that alot of decks play Azure Drake, but even then the cards priest will be getting in this new expansion will be so good, it won't even matter too much anyway. (Pint Sized Potion + Shadow word horror is going to actually be a thing)
And lastly it isn't strictly worse than lightbomb. Sure it can't clear 8-8 minions, but it will be able to clear shaman's 0-3 totems, minions that wouldn't usually be killed by lightbomb like stampeding kodo, etc.

Most of plebs are almost always off with card predictions. Having played this game for two years - it's the same pattern with every expansion. Twitch chat and reddit just plainly suck at predictions.
FWIW, I personally haven't heard anyone downplay the card at all. Everyone I've chatted with about it thinks it's good/strong.
Never seen people downplaying Dragonfire Potion, we saw people down-playing Grim Patron, Imp-losion, Piloted Shredder and Dr. Boom when they were revealed, but DFP is something i see everyone rating from playable to "superomgwutthehellwuzblizzardthinkin".
and i agree with your review, the card is strong, ylou want to run it even in non-dragon archetypes because the clear is massive and it only "forgives" a very specific type of minion.
The only time this card is weak is when your opponent is playing dragons. That's it. And let's face it, there will be times you run into that. But until we learn how the meta is shaped after the expansion hits, it's too early to say one way or the other. I personally very highly doubt that we'll be seeing dragon decks everywhere which will make this a fantastic card. Ironically enough, I personally feel that the time this card will be at it's worst is when you play against another dragon priest.
However, if after the expansion we do end up seeing dragon decks everywhere, or if dragon priest becomes so strong that it ends up being Tier 1 and as a result, they crop up everywhere, then I can see priests going for alternative aoe to compensate. Until we know though, this card is incredible at face value and I'm looking forward to seeing it in action.
Not much I can add here, its insanely strong, however like everyone has said if the meta becomes dominated by dragon decks its value would diminish greatly.
I just don't see dragon decks remaining viable for other classes after Blackrock leaves next spring. Paladin now has a dragon related 3 drop, priest is getting one, and the cool dragon stuff from Khazaran will help them but not other classes without dragon class cards. So the chances of finding other dragon decks next year I feel will be slim, so dragon priest shouldn't very worrying about facing a ton of dragons.
As for predictions of bad cards, let's all remember that Dr. 7 was lauded as the worst card ever and trogzor was supposed to be king. But what ended up really happening?
i don't think that this card is what priest needs.
yeah, yeah, the card is definitely good, but we have dragon warrior and dumpster dragon paladin which can be quite good in avoiding this AoE.
this AoE does nothing vs giants too. so yeah, any arcane giant deck is waiting for this kind of priests. and if u run 2xDeath, 2xEntomb, you're probably lacking in lategame.

Auto include in every Archetype of Priest.

It is sitting at 68% meta-defining. Where are these people who are downplaying it?
It will be played in all control priest decks, dragon or no dragons.
Just compare it to Hellfire

I changed my mind :)
There once was a man from Nantucket...
i don't think that this card is what priest needs.

i am quite surprising that no one speaks in such bright tones about Kabal Talonpriest in Dragon Priest, which transforms your Faerie Dragons into Laughing Sisters...
Legend x1: 27th season - N'Zoth Rogue only.
Excavated Evil sees play, Dragonfire Potion seems better.
you guys forget that every other class will play dragon deck just to contest priest cancer.
